  1. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

At least batman seems to be in euclidean space in that one.
  2. Movie/TV recommendations

He is so super biased that the head cannon is really a minor feature.
  3. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

I had to do an image search to understand what that suit was supposed to be. Looks tiny bit less insane here:
  4. List of things that must be in blah

The best is that on some graphics options, they should give us Ultra setting between Very High and Ultra High.
  5. Risen 2: Rise Harder

Sadly, this is not the title of the game, just the RPS post. Risen was my first or second favourite in the Gothic legacy (except for the boring final third and godawful ending), I will play whatever they do next. The game is pirate-themed and is actually subtitled Dark Waters. As I understand it, there are going to be islands that you can travel between and sea monsters.
  6. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I recently discovered The War On Drugs and really started listening to them and fell in love with a few tracks this week. "An Ocean Between The Waves" and "Red Eyes" are my favourites. They sound a bit like less energetic Bruce Springsteen with more dreamy and spacey guitars and obscure lyrics. (haven't actually seen this video, I mostly listen on Deezer/Spotify)
  7. Life

Yes. Where did you hear about it?
  8. Life

Just got back from a company trip to Mexico a couple of days ago, still jetlagged, going to a 3-day salsa cruise tomorrow, kind of in crunch mode to release a new product soon, and next weekend will have a 2-day housewarming party (two years after moving in, but so what) that I have to prepare for during the week. Also still trying to work out almost every day. But really all I want this moment is to sleep a lot...
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

So I've been on an Adventure Time binge for a few weeks and finally caught up with the current season. That is one awesome cartoon show! Discovered it through Pendleton Ward's involvement in Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight and I kind of immediately liked his sense of humor.
  10. Movie/TV recommendations

Saw the Grand Budapest Hotel and noticed for the first time how much Wes Anderson uses right camera angles. In this the camera was always at a right angle (with possible up/down tilt) and could only turn 90 degrees in place or pan left/right/forward/backward in a straight line, wih only a couple of exceptions I think. In retrospect, his previous films (I haven't seen all) also used that a lot but not exclusively as here. The hotel was almost a dollhouse and the whole world felt like a projection of the real world with half a dimension lost.
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

I saw the new Joss Whedon movie, but it was the most boring thing I've seen in years. It didn't even deal with any really interesting questions about what would happen if the premise were real. And the whole movie was just telling the story without using any visual language, the camerawork was awful.

I was horrified for a moment that someone had uncensored *********, but seems all this filth here is using a loophole (zero-width space?).
  13. Hipsters

At first I thought this thread was dumb, then I started thinking that maybe I'm in fact a hipster, then I thought this thread is dumb again. So I also take pleasure sometimes if I manage to find something interesting that people around me don't know about yet and I think they should. But on the other hand I don't like convincing people about something so I don't necessarily want to make the thing more popular. I might just mention it a few times and leave it at that. And sometimes the thing becoming popular changes it or some aspect of it and it becomes less desirable. And sometimes I think my taste is just weird and no one else I know would like the thing I like. And sometimes I might take pleasure in a thing I like becoming popular or in starting to like an already popular thing. However, I'm really confused as to how any of the above could define me or make me belong in some group of people rather than another.
  14. Idle Workouts

Is there an alternative to the couch to 5K program when I'm not starting exactly from the couch? Maybe I could skip the first week or something? For years I've been thinking of starting running but each year gave up after a couple of attempts and went back to bicycling. A program like this could help but what if I wanted to keep doing the other exercise I'm doing as well?
  15. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Thanks for sharing, that whole album is awesome, been listening to it a lot.
  16. Idle Thumbs Spot The Difference

The I didn't find, otherwise I found the 3rd set easier than second
  17. Life

I think I was also depressed without realizing it at the time during most of my university years and that is probably why I didn't graduate. I hope I might recognize it now if I ever get depressed again.
  18. Life

Yeah, I feel pretty good, although I'd like to be lighter & less fat. I want to do all the exercise I'm doing and I'd do even more if I had more time. If I feel really tired one day I'll just skip that day or something. Maybe my muscles are growing indeed, most of my exercise was also probably above the fat-burning heart rate (I haven't measured all of them).
  19. Life

During the past 3 weeks I've worked out almost every day (only missed one), including dancing, yoga, bicycling, football, running. Not losing *any* weight, though. Well, I'm not that surprised because I haven't changed my eating habits and have been drinking a beer or two almost every day as well. I'm still a bit surprised that I haven't even lost half a kilo, though. But at least I've stopped gaining more. Next week I should really start to resume the low-carb diet I was on before I quit smoking, that really seemed to work.
  20. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

A friend recommended Deezer over Spotify. Now I've been using both (mostly Deezer) and indeed it seems Deezer compares rather favourably: * better sound quality * better radios * better recommendations Better recommendations/radio is great, it has mostly only recommended songs/albums I liked listening to. On the other hand I might not find something totally unexpected, which happened a couple of times with Spotify. The only issues I have with Deezer is with the software architecture: * on desktop, runs in a browser not an app so it has the advantage of being able to open many tabs, but on the other hand a separate application is easier to manage (Spotify has better shortcut keys etc.) * on my old iPhone 3GS the mobile app's UI is slow slow slow, I only have patience to use it to start a single playlist on my 30-min commute. (on an iPad Mini it's ok)
  21. Life

So my quitting smoking since New Year has been successful. Now I feel like I have left it far enough behind that I can deal with the consequences of quitting, mainly weight gain. I gained 20 pounds over 3 months since I quit. Now I'm going back to a low-carb diet and starting to get some exercise (well I always seem to start exercising more in Spring) -- last week I managed to do something every day: started going to yoga, had salsa lessons, went running, bicycling and played some football (soccer). This week I started drinking less alcohol, started another dance course (bachata -- seems kind of difficult with the particular teacher so not sure if I'll stay) and will try to keep up with the other stuff. Next week I also start playing soccer regularly once a week, so the next few weeks should be full of exercise.

You can also just follow cool people and retweet them, if you have no original thoughts like me.
  23. Life

    Disgusting!
  24. Life

I started learning salsa recently, but all the parties* seem to play mostly bachata music instead, so I guess I have to learn that next. * even the ones with "salsa" in the name, such as "salsa night".
