Oh man, this is very sad to hear. I've been certainly aware of Bowie my whole life, from my dad's records, then Labyrinth, then Nomad Soul, and so on. I only recently started listening to his music for real, and now it'll be hard for a while to continue getting to know his new stuff. He definitely was someone to look up to and yes, Mangela put it well and I can't really add much right now.

Fuuucckkk... I've been using mubi.com for free for a while, I didn't really think about it, and even assumed that maybe I had payed for a longer time than I remembered. But it was due to a loophole... I hadn't launched it on the PS3 (where I first signed up) for about a year and now that I did, it stopped my weird limbo-subscription on all other devices. A sad day, but I guess I'll pay up. Also extra sad because I just got a friend to sign up, which would have given me a free month or something, but I guess the limbo-mode canceled that.

I thought I didn't like The Wind Rises that much when I saw it, but I find myself thinking about it occasionally and want to rewatch it. I think I watched the dubbed version, don't remember exactly. Changing topic... I think mumblecore might be my thing! I really liked Frances Ha and immediately made a list of about 15 mumblecore movies I should see. Today I watched Your Sister's Sister and loved it. Although, I don't exactly think it it's a five-star movie like for some reason, although I can't pin down why. Maybe I disliked that they shot most of it indoors while having a few really gorgeous nature shots.

I have to do a computer upgrade anyway in 2016, but yeah, now I'm imagining Vive with controllers will be around 800...

Wow, as of today we finally have Netflix in Estonia! Also, I saw Frances Ha and it immediately made it into my Top 5 or so films of this decade!

Can't always please present and future versions of all people. Life sucks (because I haven't eaten bibimbap in 19 days).

Besides old soviet films, I now somehow got into watching Fritz Lang movies. M was amazing, and so is Scarlet Street. I think I'll watch Metropolis tomorrow.

I had this page open from before and was about to go over it again -- it seemed like you were right. Then I refreshed just in case... So there were not two correct solutions?

Happy new year! Went to sleep at 6:30, woke at 11 to suddenly feel really drunk. Need to get back to sleep.

I'm not sure I like SquareCells. Even if I arrive at the solution perfectly, it feels like I did it by chance. And there's probably usually one moment in the very beginning of the puzzle that takes a long time to solve, and then it all flows naturally. Hexcells made these moments more numerous and spread out in different sections of the board.

Nono, it's just that I couldn't resist reading the spoiler because it wasn't obvious how these two would compare... but anyway I already forgot what it said but maybe I'll get the game. [edit]Or, well, more likely not as it's not on Steam.

I just watched Kin-Dza-Dza!, a 1986 soviet movie about two people who accidentally end up on a rather weird planet and are trying to get back... It's really weird, but maybe worth watching.

Now I'm both suddenly curious about Steins;Gate and worried that I've been spoiled it.

I saw Kumiko The Treasure Hunter, about a Japanese girl who thinks the money buried under the snow in Fargo must be real, right after finishing Fargo: Season 2 (which was great!). Now I want to go back and rewatch the original Fargo to make the circle complete. Kumiko is kind of an ok movie, looks real pretty occasionally, but is slowish and very lonely.

I think AAA games tend to appeal (among other things) to the gamers' desire for a great time/$ ratio, including e.g. The Witcher 3, which I guess is the only AAA I played to any significant extent this year. Now, this actually goes directly against what I'm looking for, because I'm looking for a memorable experience I can get from just a few hours, and I don't care that much about the cost of every minute. If the whole experience takes more than a few hours, it really has to justify itself. Hmm... I guess, not that I've thought about it much. From my list, SOMA is a nice exception to that, I think, although I wouldn't say it's exactly opposite of character-driven. As for games in general this year, I kind of agree that it was a slightly disappointing year. I'm hopeful for next year with The Witness, Firewatch, Tacoma, No Man's Sky, VR. But then again if those end up the only significant ones I'm going to play it may again seem like disappointingly thin year.

To answer my own question, it is possible to get a longer list of recently played games in Steam: go to library, the list view with columns, sort by last played (or whatever the english column name). Unfortunately having lots of categories like I do will be a hindrance here as each category will have it's own sorting. [edit] And I did actually find a couple of more I had played for any longer period and enjoyed, but not really gamse of the year: Gravity Ghost, Grow Home, The Beginner's Guide. Actually Grow Home should have been on my list. That's a really unique little thing and is fun to 100%, except one annoying achievement.

Surely it should say Gamse in the title? I feel even less than last year that I have any business making this list... I've played so little. I think most game time went to The Witcher 3 and Mad Max. 1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt -- even though in hindsight I can think up many faults for it, at the time of playing it felt really refreshing, the best open world RPG that I've played to date. 2. SOMA -- what an excellent next title from Frictional and still keeping with their own trademark style. One of the best sci-fi stories told in games. 3. The Talos Principle -- I didn't finish it yet, but am impressed so far. 4. TIS-100 -- writing assembler is cool again! 5. Life is Strange Runner-ups/good games, but not great: Mad Max, Broken Age, Feist And of course there are a ton I wish I would have played but didn't. PS. It feels like Steam really should help me remember by having a list of recently played games where I could select how long I want to go back (e.g. "Games I've played <since 01-01-2015>"). Anyone know if this exists, maybe as a 3rd party service? [edit]Wuxtry, Wuxtry, as a bonus category, mobile gamse of the year: Alto's Adventure! That shit is awesome and a real challenge compared to most modern games. I spent 2 weeks trying to conquer the last level, until got a hint to try on the iPad instead of the iPhone, and then solved it on the first try.

I finished all of the hexcells with perfection, except the infinite ones obviously. Great little games, I got addicted, which hasn't happened to me in a while with games. Now to squarecells! [Edit] When searching for hexcells on steam, for some reason also Cross Set came up, although HexCells, SquareCells and Cross Set seem to be made by different people...

Man, what an ending to the season. I may be under influence, but I so enjoyed that! Also, you know what's also great about that show? It lets a fat(-ish) person look fucking hot! Lindsay is seriously the hottest-looking person on that show.
-
Oh god, the second season of You're The Worst is even better. This show is really hitting the spot for me. Episode 7 had me jump from laughter to tears and back (and back) within seconds. And Episode 8 was just great fun.

Yes, me! Except now at one of the last levels of Hexcells Plus I was actually grateful for the one-mistake allowance. I had spent two hours staring at the puzzle, then took a break, came back and solved it but made a wrong click almost at the end by accident. Glad I didn't have to redo it.
