  1. Woohoo! my first thread in these forums ( ) If you've read all that shit about GTA San Andreas, what do you think they will do next? One of the things I can see in my crystal ball is a MMO GTA, but it's covered in mist and I can't tell when that will happen. Is there any place they can/will take the series before going for Massive Multiplayer?
  2. Quote of the Moment - Doug Lowenstein

Game sequels are often even better than their predecessors: Thief 2, GTA 3 & VC, Hitman 2, Gothic 2, Baldur's Gate 2 etc.
  3. What's next for the GTA series?

Well, I imagine the MMO could have gangs you can join, fight gang wars with others in order to control some territory. You could also fight for ownership of the businesses. And the businesses could provide access to weapons, vehicles etc. Haven't really thought about this as I haven't played any MMORPGs myself (except a few trials).
  4. Tell Us About Yourself

I'm a 24 year old informatics student from Estonia, currently looking for work as a programmer. I found this site thanks to false advertising. I was trying to buy a rubber boat but ended up here. I've been a semi-hardcore gamer for some 8 years I think. Currently I don't really have a favourite genre, but I have become bored with many existing genres and am more interested in games that mix genres together. My favourite games are the GTA series, Outcast, Grim Fandango, Thief series, Deus Ex etc.
  5. Hitman: Contracts.. anyone played it?

Bah, they just have too much time on their hands.

Yeah. I only remembered Tony Hawk's name so I used that. And I haven't really played any other games of that type besides Tony Hawk.
  7. Hitman: Contracts.. anyone played it?

Yeah, those Hitmanforum.com guys are crazy. Here are some videos for those who are curious 1. regular all-zeroes silent assassin play throughs http://www.hitmanforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11656 1. suit-only (no changing clothes) all-zeroes silent assasin speedruns (ie. really fast times) http://www.hitmanforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12578 Some of those latter ones take advantage of bugs though. --- personally I got bored with the game after doing all the levels with all-zeroes SA. Hitman 2 was much more replayable and interesting to me. I just liked the levels better I guess.
  8. GTA3 aficionados, listen up: NPR Yakuza story

Yeah, I don't like RealPlayer or MediaPlayer 9 either. Sorry.

They'll probably add some Tony Hawk style stunts too, seeing as San Andreas will have rideable bicycles. I wonder what other new types of vehicles there will be. It was mentioned that the range has grown bigger in both ends (previously it was from small planes to mopeds).
  10. The, "Oy fuckin' oy!" moments

Ok, I just installed GTA3 and did some of the first missions. I hadn't played it for a long time and to my surprise, it actually kind of looks and feels better than Vice City in some ways. But maybe it's all because of that blur effect (VC doesn't have it).
  11. What's next for the GTA series?

A good amount of info on San Andreas can be found here: http://www.freepgs.com/bigbadron/gta/ The scans are not very good -- tiny text -- but I managed to read it. [edit] the scans seem to have disappeared. Just as I was getting to the final page (10), I got a 404. So read this eurogamer article that sums up what is said in those scans: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=55550 (the same that was linked to in the news section)

I just have to say OMG once more. OMG! I can't believe this game is heading in the exact direction I envisioned and secretly dreamed of while playing VC the first time. Now I have to buy a PS2 again because I can't possibly wait for the PC version.
  13. GTA: San Andreas (Screenshots)

San Andreas is starting to sound really good! http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=55550 allegedly six times the size of Vice City, unlocked gradually over the course of the game, and besides the cities it also features all the roads in between, allowing you to race through the desert, countryside, and even over a mountain... This was actually exactly one of the things I was hoping to see in a next GTA game. four-character drive-bys "Obviously you still have missions you have to do," he tells Game Informer, "but when you're not on a mission, not only are there a thousand things to do, but what you can do relates to where you are in the story." And besides, that, you pick up skills." "There are hundreds of skills to learn in this game so you can't have hundreds of tutorials. So each mission you learn a new skill. In every mission you'll be doing something new." And that something could be recruiting gang members to fight alongside Carl, gambling in a casino, robbing the much more pregnable (and thoroughly modelled) buildings for cash (something which requires careful planning - "If you don't do very well, someone's going to shoot your head off, and if you do it well, you'll get away with plenty of loot."), carjacking as a group, swimming, scooting around on a bicycle ("it just feels like a bicycle"), or even building and running a casino. OMG THIS IS BECOMING MY DREAM COME TRUE!
  14. Dreamfall blows

Ahem.... I'm sure there are clubs for this sort of thing...
  15. The, "Oy fuckin' oy!" moments

Aahh... you are making me want to play GTA3 again. I just finished Vice City for the third time a week ago. Now I've been trying to find new challenges in Hitman Contracts as I've done all-zeroes on all levels except the demo level where I always get an alert no matter what I do. And I don't have enuff time or patience for those all-zero suit-only speedruns that the crazy folks at hitmanforum.com are doing. But it just isn't as fun as Hitman 2 and I'm already bored with it. So maybe I'll install GTA3 tomorrow. KJAH! One love plus one love make two. So this is studio two.

I disagree. I really feel like Vice City added a lot to the series: even more freedom (motorcycles and helicopters etc.); a minor hint of strategy provided by the purchaseable businesses. One thing I really hope from San Andreas is that they take the businesses even further. That was for me the strongest point in Vice City that set it apart from the previous game.
