  1. There's some kind of weird feature at GameSpot. It's called "blablablablabla". The author starts out with "blablabla", then says that academia is boring and that she will use her skills to challenge that notion, then writes a couple of pages that are more boring and confusing than academia ever could be and perhaps then it will get better, I hope. I'll get back to reading it.
  2. Fable gone gold

No, strike that. I just read the IGN's 8-page Fable review, and now am reading the other 8-page review that they linked to. And I'm getting pretty damn excited. I never paid that much attention to Fable so far, deliberately I think, to ignore the hype, and somewhat because I never really intended to get an Xbox. So I'm not really disappointed that it misses some of the hyped features. I simply have to play this and I am almost certain I will love it. San Andreas will come out on PC/Xbox later anyway, and I've always played the GTA games on PC. So I might get an Xbox after all. Then I might even join you guys in drooling over psychonauts. But I just checked that the consoles aren't that cheap after all, I only saw a temporary discount on Xbox some time ago, but I don't remember where And I don't know where they sell Xbox games here either.
  3. The Madrid game (newsgaming.com)

No, the game's creator said somewhere that the game could be won. I suppose it's by really fast clicking, which I think sort of defeats the game's motive.
  4. Academia, gaming, blablabla

Update: I found the point where it starts to get interesting. Somewhere in the middle of Page 6. Edit. It's starting to bother me that the author refers to "game theory" several times in relation to video games. Sorry, but the term has already been taken.
  5. I hate that you hate so much. And I hate that I hate that and that you are not using your hate powers for awesome.
  6. Afraid of Doom3, join the club

That's a scary thought. But it must be true because I don't remember any other game ever doing that.
  7. Afraid of Doom3, join the club

Whoa. I was just playing Doom3, looking at some ugly growth on monorail walls, when I felt a slight tingling on my hand... There was a huge spider walking on it. It totally freaked me out for a second and my instincts made me kill it. Usually I like spiders, for they hunt the more unpleasant bugs. Doom3 so far feels like a good game, but it got a bit repetitive a long time ago (I'm somewhere in the CommTransfer), I'm not even sure why I play it any more.
  8. Afraid of Doom3, join the club

It has to be fake (the Doom3 one). But it is pretty scary, and much better of a game than I would have guessed.
  9. Fable gone gold

The consoles have gotten pretty cheap. But I think I'll buy a PS2 for San Andreas, rather than Xbox for Fable.
  10. I had a dream...

I haven't played much of it, but yeah, navigating the world gave me similar feelings.
  11. GTA: San Andreas screenshots

Holy shit, those San Fransisco screens look awesome. If San Andreas had the vigilante missions a bit more complex, like True Crime, who would play True Crime any more?
  12. The Dirty Minds Club

    That's awesome
  13. Hitman - Codename 47 sucks ass

Did you like the H2 and H3 demos though? One thing remains the same in all three games -- you'll come to success by trial and error. I don't remember a single mission that I've completed on the first try. Actually, as I remember, Hitman 1 does get better after the first few missions. But there are just 3 or so that are really worth playing.
  14. Misse & Murre in space

Has anyone played Misse&Murre lately? I hadn't played for weeks and now gave it a few tries, but the physics seem different. I can't get a good start at all. Maybe it's just that my skill is gone (I thought it would be like riding a bike ).
  15. Thief Gold is full of shit

Hehe... I just had a similar reaction when I recently finally found Thief Gold as well. And indeed, much uglier than I remembered. But hell of a good gameplay, although it's a bit annoying to play -- because of my brigthness-impaired computer I have to use shortcut keys to turn up brightness a lot since the game will forget the current brightness each time it switches screens.
  16. A nice glitch at GameSpot

If you remember an older thread I posted about a month ago, I decided to try GameSpot Complete for a month. I just gave it up though, because although I liked the benefits, I decided that at the moment it isn't worth the money for me. Actually unsubscribing didn't go without problems, it seems. I used a form on their website, but received no reaction (or the reaction got accidentally deleted among spam). Then a day later I received an e-mail that they couldn't charge my credit card (I actually used a virtual debit card that acts as a credit card) and I didn't respond. Now today I finally am not a gamespot complete member any more. But the glitch I'm talking about is that I still have the Ice skin (that is supposedly for Complete members only), can still download from their FTP etc. I hope I don't accidentally click the "ice off" or "log out" buttons. I fear the benefits might disappear if I don't stay logged in. Or maybe it's their policy that I can still use these things for a few days or something? EDIT Hmm... actually now it shows again that I'm a GameSpot Complete member. I swear, for a moment it was "GameSpot Basic"
  17. A nice glitch at GameSpot

They can't bill my virtual debit card. I set a limit to it for exactly the amount I needed to buy Gish and subscribe to GameSpot. However, I do find it strange that they showed no interest of stopping *trying to bill the card* even though I used their web-site form to inform them that I want to cancel my subsription. I've received two notices about this, the last one: So I guess they did intentionally give a grace period. And I've already not been able to download from their FTP for a few days.
  18. Agreed. Any installer should be simple. And instead of adding music and custom interfaces, they should let me choose the name of the start menu folder (I think probably less than 50% of installers do this).
  19. NOLF2 could've been great also

I hate respawning too, except in Hack'n'slash games. But I agree with trep, that the humor wasn't quite the same as the first one and that had more effect on my opinion of the game than respawning. But it was still a pretty good game. Everybody stay away from Contract Jack though. That's an awful piece of shit. I only played the first one or two hours, but it was like this -- you move along a linear path, reach an invisible trigger point and enemies appear and start running at you. You kill them, move on to next trigger point, repeat.
  20. Misse & Murre in space

Yeah, that's good. It was very annoying before. But now it also does not flash your name if you only make it to Todays top 20, but not the all time top.
  21. Inverting Survival Horror

After seeing the FEAR movie, I was wondering is it possible to make an interesting game based on an inversion of the survival horror concept. By the inversion I mean that the player character would be doing some scary things as part of gameplay. For example if the player would play the part of that little girl in the FEAR movie. If this would work, then probably only in first person. But I can't quite imagine what the gameplay would be like exactly. What do you think?
  22. Inverting Survival Horror

Yeah, I've played Ghost Master demo. And indeed that's not what I had in mind.
  23. http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/forgottenrealmsdemonstone/media.html Just watched a couple of movies of this on GameSpot and this seems very interesting. It's an action-RPG, very cinematic and the story is supposedly well integrated with the gameplay. The developers made a LoTR: TTT game before this and frankly, if I'd seen similar movies for a TTT game, I'd think -- this is complete crap (because it would just be a cheap license exploit), but in this case I'm interested.
  24. Secure Delivery my ass

The GameSpot Secure Delivery is a really weird piece of shit. I'm trying for the nth time to download the Horizons free trial (1006.74 MB!). Now the sick mofo is stuck at 1005.74 (1MB missing). It keeps going up to 1006.74, then falls back 1MB. Infinitely. What the fuck is this about? And I can't download via FTP either, some kind of bug at that GameSpot page.
  25. Misse & Murre in space

Breaking news: 10432, broke Aino's fancy showing-off four-row high score.
