Gotta try that. I play texas hold'em with some friends. They play every weekend, but I've only been there about twice. I play like shit though.

Shit. we've been stormed by people who can't spell.

That's a Terry Prattchett quote?

OGRE is only a graphics engine though, it's probably not even half of an entire game engine.

Do a google search for any of the process names -- there are a few sites that tell you what it is, and they should show up as the first search matches.

Some people were saying the PC should change more than 10 years ago. And the basics are still the same. It's all for backward compatibility. I wish someone took that bold step and let it go, but then we'd have to have at least 2 PC's : one for old stuff, and one for new.

So I bought GTA San Andreas for almost fucking 60 euros and borrowed a PS2 from a friend. Now it turns out the controller is fucked up and the left analog stick will move to the right by itself (not physically of course). Even if I hold it left, it will still sometimes go right. I don't think cleaning will help either because I already opened it and there didn't seem to be much dirt. Seems the potentiometer for the left/right control is just not working any more... FUCK I don't know if I'm cursed or something, the EXACT same has also eventually happened to every PC controller I've bought.

Thanx, baconian. I went and bought the original one (ocean blue) and it's much better. It's damn small, though.

How do I get rid of the bombs without blowing something up? I could move that plank, but then I can't get it back... nevermind, I think I figured out ...
-
Shit, I think I'm going to have to buy a better one soon. I just got to the point where you have to learn to fly and it's nearly impossible with those lousy sticks... Or maybe it's meant to be? I did manage the RC Baron mission somehow though, but took me some 7-8 tries. Can anyone with a normal (original) PS2 controller and San Andreas tell me if for example the car wheels are supposed to turn smoothly as you move the controller? For me it's quite difficult to get them to any position between straight and the most right/left. Is the Sony original the best one to get? We don't seem to have a lot of selection here... or I don't know the right stores. In other news: I moved my furniture around today and it was my mother who figured out how to get the bed into a geometrically-challenged corner at the time when my father and I were about to give up.
-
Yeah, in retrospect, I should have gotten an original or just a better one, but I wanted it urgently so I could play GTA: SA and that was all the money I had to spend at the time.

Certainly it is concept art. They couldn't have just added some advanced lighting thingamajob and made it look like that. Or could they? (Actually, after looking at it more closely, it could possibly be a screen, but the background couldn't and it seems too seamless)

This controller I bought, it has extra buttons besides the standard ones: "slow", "auto" and "clear"; and is advertised with "slow motion and turbo fire" modes. There isn't anything said about how to use them though... The "slow" mode would actually make manual aiming manageable, but for some reason it starts to toggle the "start" button couple of times in a second. I could hold down the start button while in slow mode but that would kind of suck... Has anyone here used a controller like this (UPXUS DualShock2)?

I was just coming in here to post that exact quote So I'll add the images instead:

Try staying a bit further from the train if you can -- Smoke will have a better shooting angle.
-
Sorry, but you will. The Big Smoke fork seems compulsory. And you will get a couple of harder missions than that (see the one i described). Or perhaps there is another way I didn't find -- making a certain amount of money perhaps? Not sure if they have that in the latest GTA games.

I hate zombies in games. Except when they have some kind of electrical helmets on their heads, with a lightbulb and a buzzing sound.
-
yeah, and the left one turns the character relative to the camera, while right one moves the camera (and char)
-
Of course. I wasn't expecting to be able to aim more easily than with the mouse or something like that. I was expecting that I wouldn't have to tap the analog sticks like you tap keyboard buttons when you need to turn the car just a little bit, but I could push the stick just a little. But that doesn't work. And it's incredibly difficult to keep the player walking slowly, especially if you want to change direction while doing it.

Congrats!
