  1. Why so serious?

    Cool
  2. Ziggy! Nooooooo

Hehe... a simple bug in the code that sleeps until the time a next post can be made. I accidentally made it so it could sleep infinitely unders some conditions. Will fix ASAP!
  3. Ziggy! Nooooooo

Not sure what happened. I can't get to it remotely from work so I'll fix it when I get home.
  4. Ziggy! Nooooooo

Thanks guys. I'll do my best to keep it running smoothly from now on.
  5. Ziggy! Nooooooo

Most of the coding is done! Ziggy should be back rather soon!
  6. Ziggy! Nooooooo

Update: started working on it again. Will rewrite some parts in Scala because the current code is overly complex and I can't even remember what it all does (hmm... deja vu, but I sincerely think this time it will work out) Not that it's bad code, but I originally meant to make all the separate parts usable outside of Ziggy (such as a desktop app for running the games, running the games in IM and IRC, giving other functions to the bot etc.), that's what made it complicated. But I don't care about that other stuff any more and am focusing on getting the core functionality working as well as possible. Already got the Infocom VM interface rewritten and it's working fine. Still a lot of work ahead, though. But I'm hopeful of getting it done within a month.
  7. Fully ramblomatic reviewer releases game

I started playing this again. Finished 5 heists so far, the 6th one is quite frustrating. Even a restart option that wouldn't kick you out of the level and reset the math puzzle would help here. The concept is cool, but as I already said earlier based on very little play time, smoother (and simpler) controls would help a lot. It takes too much time to start moving in another direction. If you miscalculate a step and get seen by a camera, it's very difficult to quickly step back. I guess the AGS engine is quite limiting for this type of games, being more suited for point'n'click.
  8. Crock Band

I finally got Rock Band this morning, without the instruments though (they won't ship them here and not available locally) so I'll just be playing the guitar.
  9. Ziggy! Nooooooo

I hope to whip Ziggy into shape some day. Can't promise any specific time right now. It turns out some of the multi-threading issues I ran into that made Ziggy crash every now and then are a bit beyond my current skill in dealing with concurrency issues (or I'm just lazy and looking for excuses). I'm thinking of rewriting those parts in Scala using Actors, which seem to be touted nowadays as the solution for reducing complexity of multi-threading.
  10. Mata Hari

Thanks for the info, Dan! I'm mostly interested in the community stuff that has done interesting things with dialogue. Do you remember any specific modules that stood out in that regard? (I started working on a 2D game engine and will want to look for ahem... inspiration for a dialogue system at some point) PS. sorry for the off topic
  11. Mata Hari

Sounds interesting... I didn't play NWN, the beginning of the game didn't seem that interesting. Are you talking about NWN or NWN 2? Have any links to the mod community stuff? Perhaps I should take a look.
  12. Macarena of the Missing

Cool game! Will play more tomorrow. One technical note: the sound goes away when the window loses focus.
  13. I accidentally a fleshlight (NSFW)

The Microsoft Visual Studio Express download page tells me that I can several videos. I think it's almost like I could the entire thing. "How-to Reference Library is where you can several videos that show how to use common controls." http://www.microsoft.com/express/vc/
  14. Lame

That sucks indeed. But I hope your intention of starting your own thing materializes and you'll make something awesome!
  15. Grand Theft Auto IV

I'm also adjusting it constantly. But a different angle would probably mean you wouldn't see as far and miss some of the great views. Still, I think they should have given it as an option.
  16. Microsoft does not want my money

I had problems with this as well, being in a really small country I had to actually pretend to be from somewhere else when I registered my account. The same goes for Wii's online services, but at least they accept my credit card for buying points. I'm not sure if the PSN is any different?
  17. coign of vantage

Cool game! I think I agree with Nick's comment about the small pixels, though I'm not sure if it would actually improve the game.
  18. Braid

Just finished it. The final world was crazy! The difficulty is less than previous worlds, but the way the time flows there messes with your brain, in a good way. I laughed pretty hard at a couple of tricky places.
  19. American Mc Gee's Grimm

Slightly off topic: holy shit, I've never used gametap before and thank god because their software is a real piece of shit. Firstly, the download of Grimm fails (and goes to paused state) every 10 to 20 seconds, requiring me to resume it manually. Hurray! I guess it's a little better than having to accept an EULA for each individual bit downloaded. Secondly, the interface is a little too overwhelming. Steam looks much clearer. [edit] oh wait, actually it isn't that much better than accepting an EULA for each bit, if you have the game's screen open. See attached screenshot, you have to close an error dialog and then click resume (still happens about every 10-20 seconds, but 49% done now). It almost seems like they haven't taken into account the nature of the internet (some packets might not arrive).
  20. Braid

Article about the art in Braid on Gamasutra . The game itself is great. The trial version convinced me to buy it in just a few minutes.
  21. Snuff Box...

Damn... this had me laughing out loud:
  22. Limbo Of The Lost: EPIC FAIL

Fandango of the Forlorn Disco of the Disappeared
  23. Pieces of Eight

Heh, I always thought pieces of eight in Monkey Island was an entirely fictional currency, but turns out it was an important historical currency. Did everyone but me already know that?
  24. Fallout 3: Proving the haters are right?

Based on what I've seen and your comments, looks like I will have to wait for reviews before I decide whether to buy it or not.
  25. A Prince of Persia?

I have to admit the game looks like it could be fun, though, judging by the trailers.
