Umm... why are (were) you playing it for so long if you don't enjoy it? Anyway, I kind of like it. Although the faults are obvious. The missions are like from an old school hack'n'slash game (I was reminded of Mordor I and II): they are really generic, with only a few variations. Especially the side missions -- only the location of the target differs most times. I also don't like the respawning guard posts. The least they could do is make the respawn time longer (for example they could only come back the next day or something). Most annoying is that everybody is willing to kill you. You learn pretty early on that when outside of the cease-fire areas, you should shoot on sight to not give any advantage. The checkpoint save locations seem pointless, seeing as you can even quick-save (or do they disable that with a harder difficulty setting?). But the game is certainly beautiful and the open world aspect of it is nice. Better than S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which was disappointingly linear (with some exceptions).

Does anyone here play this? I think someone mentioned it in the DeathSpank thread. I just played it for the first time last week with some colleagues and it was really fun. And I don't play any pen and paper RPG's or card games like MTG or whatever. The way you can combine the cards may produce some quite funny results. In the last game I was a three-handed Orc-Gnome half-breed Wizard with a chicken on it's head, riding a flatulent fire-breathing armored tiger steed (who has nine lives). I'm even thinking of making a computer game out of it (or a similar game with original rules and cards, to not infringe on any copyrights). Already started coding a prototype, but time will tell whether anything comes of it...

Hmm... I just had the thought of making the prototype be an Idle Thumbs / Video Games themed variant (Thumbs alone is probably not enough material or too insidejokeful? or is it?). It would be called "Thumbskin". It's apparently coming to the PS3 as well as the PC, but yeah looks like mouse is the best input for this.

This hasn't hit me yet, but I think it is a possibility during the next couple of years (on the other hand I think I'll always find a job as a Java developer in Tallinn). The whole dev. team (though not a big one) of a gov. institution I used to work for got laid off recently. But the company that hired some of them (and me, starting next week) was happy that finally the gov. was making more developers available on the job market

Yeah, this bothered me in The Witcher, where you'd start reading a book, then a notification about a quest update or somesuch immediately popped up, which often was a differently worded summary of the book's contents, but sometimes not.

So I beat the game and now I'm trying to get better times at the time trials. Have you guys tried racing against some of the world's best times? I don't get how they are able to maintain such momentum. I'm losing 2 seconds in the first leg of Playgrounds One already.

Holy shit, I didn't know something almost like this actually exists, as an additional co-op mode for the PS2 port of Half-Life, which was unofficially ported to PC Half-Life (not the Source version). Except they don't get killed by headcrabs (probably) and I'm not sure how much of an adventure game it is.

So far the game looks awesome, BTW. I just finished with the tutorial part. There are occasional slowdowns on my PC though, and they seem somehow random. Don't wanna turn the details down either 'cause most of the time it runs fine.
