Hey, I just remembered that I actually have made a game that has been "released", contrary to what I said before. I had totally forgotten about this, I think it was 10+ years ago. A friend found me a gig with a graphic design company that was hired to do a game for a game show on our national television. It was the kind of game where you reveal tiles one by one and have to match two of the same tile to get points. I forget what those are called. The game was made just for that TV show. I did the programming (although I heard it was mostly rewritten later when they changed some concepts, by a designer who had been learning programming), the pay was ridiculous and I was not even credited (those bastards). Oh, and it was made in Scala, but not that Scala. I don't even remember what the name of the show was, just your average pointless game show.

Something for Samorost fans: http://www.alchemiagame.com/ The puzzles are easier, though, or at least more self-contained.

So I've also gone to the gym two times now and it wasn't completely horrible. But right now I can barely hold up my arms.

Canabalt coming to the iPhone: http://www.offworld.com/2009/09/rapid-runner-semi-secret-porti.html That's going to leave even less of the area ahead of you visible though, so it will be even easier to die simply due to some random placement of elements. Unless he changes something.

Warsow is a free colorful cartoony fast-paced bunny-hopping wall-jumping multiplayer FPS. I played a few rounds, seemed pretty cool. http://www.warsow.net/ vtJKrIngTIs

I've always had a bit of a fascination with words, especially English ones. Not that I know how to use them properly in a sentence I still haven't managed to win a single game of Words with Friends though (lost 3 of them, one to Toblix).

Idle Thumbs PAX 09: Ron Gilbert !!

Whoa... this has got to be one of your best episodes ever! I liked it when Ron started talking about unanswered questions, it made me think of Lost and then he brought it up. -
Yeah, I played Thievery for a while. I don't know, I personally never really missed being "badass" in Thief.

just checked the Xbox settings, the resolution is 1280x768 (says HDMI-A)

I think I have a HD TV. At least, it has one HDMI input (used by the XBox 360 Elite, which came with the HDMI cable I think). I haven't really payed attention to what HD, or HD-Ready or Full-HD or any of that actually means. The TV was won at some raffle and not bought. Maybe I'd have bought one by now if we hadn't won one, or maybe I'd be still playing on an old CRT.

Do you mean that in Thief Garret wasn't as weak as he should have been, or could run away too easily? I guess I agree with that.

I liked the trailer. Music is pretty good too

Really, what the fuck is with the outfit? Hey you there, half a mile away! Look at me, I'm an assassin, and I'm coming your way! I'm on the internets and I already hate this game. Also, WTF, Leonardo da Vinci is your personal weaponsmith? Fuck you.

Aarrgh. I can't watch this. Why is Mona Lisa in this game?
-
Why did they start publishing these before the game is actually released? There was one about Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor And now there's one about Torchlight, a game I hadn't even heard of yet that is coming out Q4 this year. Ok, I haven't read this yet, maybe it's not exactly a post-mortem.
-
yeah, but because it's not a marketing one, that's why it's kind of weird as a gamer to read potentially spoilerific details about a games' development before the game is even out. I guess most gamers don't even read sites that do post-mortems though. [edit] actually, what I meant is that post-mortems usually have "what we did wrong" and "what we did right" sections but I don't want to read that before I've played the game.

Somewhat related to Words with Friends: if anyone likes crosswords, Offworld recommended Crosswords and 2Across, which are supposedly very similar. They download crosswords puzzles from newspaper websites so you'll have an infinite choice. I got Crosswords, before realizing that 2Across was cheaper. They seem really hard though, but I've only done crosswords in Estonian before (used to do them a lot actually). And there's no choose by difficulty so I had to try a few before finding something I could actually complete.

Idle Thumbs 41: Space Boss: The Lord of Space

It's even on Twitter so it must be real. -
Some Robotron games. One was a turn based text-based thing where you were P (or some other letter) and were chased by X-s in a playing field and randomly O-s (holes) appeared so you tried to move so that the X-s stepped into holes. Maybe it wasn't robotron, could have been some weird russian computer. Then in another place were some actual robotron games (some helicopter game; maybe lode runner or something like that; frogger? don't remember them all) The first graphical games I played were Alley Cat & Prince of Persia.

I now also have this T4ffer is the name. I've never played scrabble before, tho.

How long will THEWIZARD code work for the Falcon Thingamajig? I'd like to wait until I hear what you think after using it. And then what you really think next week. -
I'm wondering if this is really completely safe for people, though.
