  1. Should I do it?

I was actually thinking just loading new messages immediately into the existing page, not refreshing. But a notification would also work, and clicking on it would load the messages.
  2. Should I do it?

Yes, those are some of the key things I want to do. Live threads refreshing even every few seconds actually. And all replying & editing would keep you on the same page. I would like to optionally support threaded discussions but I haven't thought much about it yet. I'm not sure about providing a no-JS fallback though. Does anyone really have JS disabled? It's a core part of the web nowadays.
  3. Assassin's Creed II

How are the console controls? I really want this game but I think I'd prefer the PC version.

Dragon Age, I haven't played Ninja Blade. My criticism was tongue-in-cheek though, I know they mean by original IP that it's not a sequel or based on an existing license, not whether the content is derivative. So which one do you think is good? I personally liked Dragon Age a lot.
  5. Should I do it?

How are these built for community forums made? Coded from scratch or based on some existing open source code? When I ran The Crow's Nest (if anyone remembers or even knew about that site when it existed) I also made a custom forum in PHP. It had some features that seemed ahead of it's time, for the few people who got to try it, but I lost the code in a HDD crash I'm now having doubts after seeing some boards like Invision PowerBoard already improve so much over vBulletin that my additional improvements might seem minor. Or maybe they wouldn't. My solution would be modular/plug-in based, you could install only a "core" package (and not even get the UI for disabling the features you don't want because they won't exist in any form in the core version) that has a minimal UI that you can easily customize with a HTML editor. Gee, I hope I'm not spewing bullshit, I haven't figured out the complete architecture yet. Anyway, do you think such a solution could be a good base to build on for someone who want's to build a forum around a community? Or will the kind of forum you mean be so deeply integrated into a community site that the code will be interwoven?

And the joke of the year goes to: http://www.gamespot.com/best-of/special-achievement/index.html?page=21
  7. Should I do it?

Hmm.. seems that the Invision Power Board already does a lot of the things I had in mind. I'll take a closer look at it.
  8. Should I do it?

I started working on the forum. The internal architecture will be somewhat complex, so it may take several weeks or even a couple of months (depending on how much of my free time I'll spend playing games instead ) to set up before I have a simple working prototype.
  9. Should I do it?

yeah, I think vBulletin is pretty good from users viewpoint, especially with a good skin like Idle Forums. But I think a good forum UI could be better with more ajax stuff and maybe a bit more modern skins if it doesn't break the navigation with back/forward etc.

My game of the decade is: Outcast I know it came out in 1999, but I think it's the game I've most replayed this decade. I can barely go a year without replaying it. Nothing has ever really topped it for me -- even if lots of games have done some things better, the style of the game and how it mixes genres really Appeals to me. Beyond Good & Evil is most similar to it I think, but I prefer Outcast's world. Also, if I could go back in time and change one thing in the history of gaming, it would be to make Outcast sell gazillions so Appeal could have kept developing Outcast 2.
  11. goty.cx 2009?

That was one of my favourite parts of the game, actually.
  12. Red Dead Redemption

It's like Far Cry 2 meets The Witcher meets GTA meets Outlaws. PS. What's the IGN quote? I didn't see it.
  13. Red Dead Redemption

Wow. That may turn out to be amazing or in fact The Game That Erkki Has Been Asking For Since GTA III
  14. Saira

I actually do find the platforming a bit difficult, and I have to retry segments too many times. I happened on a couple of puzzles I have no idea what to do about as well.
  15. Saira

I love it so far. The story seems more interesting than Knytt already. I can't remember if I finished Knytt or not, but it was pure atmosphere and not much story.
  16. Tales of Monkey Island

    (Warning: spoils the ending)
  17. Fresh Indie Game Compendium Extraordinaire

  18. GOTY.CX 2009

I should probably play TT, I lost interest in that "trilogy" after Warrior Within. But people keep saying it isn't as bad. Sands of Time was amazing.
  19. GOTY.CX 2009

But he isn't a prince. Yes, that actually does piss me off. This shouldn't be a PoP game. I think it's a good game, but it has little to do with PoP. And the main character isn't even a prince (hmm... I'm not actually sure the original PoP character was a prince though).
  20. GOTY.CX 2009

Am I the only one who enjoyed the last PoP game? Certainly it had flaws, but I thought it was a good game. At least I liked it more than Warrior Within.
  21. Sam & Max 2010

    amen
  22. goty.cx 2009?

I have no idea. It uses the Source engine if that's any indication.
  23. goty.cx 2009?

[nitpicking]The first decade A.D. was year 0-9? There's no such thing as year 0[/nitpicking] Actually, I think it isn't really important to think about year 0, and it's easier to consider 1990 as part of the nineties etc.
  24. goty.cx 2009?

Still forgot one: Zeno Clash (how many more of these posts will I have to make?)
  25. Open Pandora finally here?

Yeah, I may have been overly negative before. It definitely seems cool and I might even want one some day. Maybe the games will come someday (besides the ones you can already run on linux).
