Gamespot's preview of the game makes it sound pretty awesome. Seems like every quest can have quite a number of different outcomes. I didn't play more than a demo of the first game, though, because the combat seemed badly implemented.

I finally got this game (and a PS3!). I'm enjoying it so far, more than I thought I would.

So, I finally got a PS3 (Xbox360 RRoDed and warranty was over, gonna get it fixed soon but it was a good excuse to finally get PS3). I'm Taffer-4
-
Finished it. Not bad, ignoring the bugginess and interface issues (though occasional crashes on Mac seem to be common to most games for me). Feels very much like BTTF and the puzzles were interesting enough.

Before playing it, I somewhy always had the opinion that DeathSpank was a short game. Well, it took me 17 + 22 (Thongs of Virtue) hours to complete. That's about 40 hours, which is relatively long by today's standards and even not very short for an RPG. I'm surprised it was priced that low. I got both parts for 12€ each just a few days before the Steam holiday sale started. [edit] I'm not saying there should be a strong correlation between price and length. I guess what I'm trying to say is that DeathSpank seems to have been mostly underrated in both its size and how good a game it is. Or maybe that's just my impression. Well, at least it got some humour awards.

It seems like Telltale is working on too many games at one time and is not able to maintain their standard of quality in all of the titles. Except for the sound quality standard of course.
-
Wow, the game looks amazing and fun.

That HUGE goal popup in the HUD is annoying, especially as I the game asked me if I want goal popups and i said no.
-
Actually it started working now. (I just downloaded it half an hour ago so probably didn't need to redownload) [edit] oh, now it doesn't work again . aargh

I don't know if the mac version is buggy but telltalegames.com seems to be having problems and launching the Mac game brings up a pretty much blank window... does this mean TTG games can't be played offline?

A good idea might be to use one special weapon and one high damage normal weapon. This way you still get the special attack when the justice meter is full. I usually have one set where both weapons are melee and another set where one is ranged. If you can't find any crossbows for a while, I think the separate bolts probably don't require a crossbow? I'm not sure if you can put the bolts into weapon slots, I put them in potion slots and used from there.

I'm adding DeathSpank / Thongs of Virtue to my GOTY list.

The Bethesda Podcast featuring Nick Congrats Nick Breckon is pretty good.

http://www.theballthegame.com/ Has anyone played this? Could be fun but the trailer makes it seem like there's more combat than puzzles. And 18€ seems a bit much for this to me, is there likely to be another holiday sale on Steam beyond the current treasure hunt?
-
It's 9 euros on Steam now. I was hoping for that, so I'll get it.
-
I just made a deal with myself. I'm not going to buy anything from the holiday sales just because it's something I would want to play and it's on sale. I simply won't have time to play them anyway. I'd like to play Fallout 3 again with all the add-ons, but realistically I won't have the time in the near future. If I ever do find the time to play them, I'll buy them at whatever pricetag they have then. But still, I might pick up a few truly sandvich-priced games that I've been curious about for a while. Like Titan Quest. I still probably won't find the time to play them any time soon, but 2-3€ is low enough to get them just in case TL;DR I'm only buying sandvich-priced games from this holiday sale.

According to this, The Ball is going to be in the Christmas sale: http://savygamer.co.uk/2010/12/18/steam-christmas-sale-leak/

What I love about this game so far (over 30% complete I think) is how it uses and makes fun of RPG cliches while somehow seeming more original just by not taking those cliches seriously.
-
So the Mac version finally appeared on Steam and I bought it. Really enjoying it so far, I was expecting something much worse based on some reviews. Thongs of Virtue is a separate game, right? not a DLC?

Limbo Minecraft Amnesia: The Dark Descent Call of Pripyat I also don't remember if Pripyat was this year, but it was in IGN's list so maybe it was. Honorable mention: Mount & Blade Warband. The only multiplayer game I've played for hours and hours in recent years.

Still, I don't think this matters much when you just use it to point at the screen (like in the World of Goo example). I'm much more excited about the iPad World of Goo.
