Yeah, it's a bummer and I'm not going to believe Bethesda this time that their AI will be amazing (not sure if they said that). But I do believe it's going to be more believable, maybe almost like Gothic... Anyway, as far as I understand, non-game AI research hasn't made much progress, so on one hand it's not surprising that game AI (although not technically AI) hasn't improved, but on the other hand I think developers just don't see it as a priority or don't want to spend CPU cycles on them. I would love to see games that have vastly better NPC AI than normal, but spend less polygons and stuff for graphics.

Sorry, I think you meant one PLASTIC waste-producing currency that is the worst fucking idea ever* * I live in a country where I can't use my credit card for points purchasing so I always have to get the plastic version, which is just a whole lot of fucking useless bullshit packaging (even if I buy it online, someone else bought the plastic and scanned the code I think).

I bet that it will be so, because what other reason could they have to store your saves in the cloud, or advertise that feature? You probably won't use the same PSN account on multiple PS3s.

I bought it too. Some really clever puzzles in the Alternate mode. And I like the various machines. PS. I've noticed Estonian words occasionally in Nifflas' games. For example the "Ranna Caverns" level. It takes place in beach/caverns and 'ranna' is the possessive form of 'rand' which means beach. I wonder if he uses words from other languages like that as well. Or could be just coincidence.

I love it that developers keep coming up with new uses for physics in games. Swarm looks super fun.

Actually it seems the Steam version is patched too.

Cool. I guess I'll replay Arx Fatalis. Is it available on Steam or somewhere? I think I played this last when I still used to pirate games. It's on Steam for 5€ but I guess the patch doesn't apply to that version? ZeniMax seems to be picking up cool studios. oh, this wasn't a new thread

Sorry, this is more than a week old, but I just noticed RPS's 2011 list. A lot of promising games, more than I'm comfortable with. And that's just for the PC, which is dead.

I'm curious whether they took a lot of inspiration from HOMM or is it all from the original King's Bounty?

Bah, pcs schmcs. I meant non-Apple PCs, whether Windows or Linux. Ubuntu might be more usable than Windows as a laptop OS(?), though I haven't used it much recently. BTW I still prefer windows on a desktop PC. I'm generally ok with the Dell I have but it has some things that annoy me: 1) built-in sound much worse than my mac 2) pressing keyboard volume buttons take you out of a game 3) trackpad is ridiculous compared to mac's, to scroll you have to hit the edge of it 4) in/out of power saving mode takes quite long compared to mac 5) changing the viewing angle even slightly can drastically change how colors appear 6) etc.

This is the first time I heard the word inter-railing. No surprise, on their map we don't even exist: http://www.interrailnet.com/countries But if you do come to Tallinn I may be able to offer a couch. The old city here is pretty cool, not sure what else to see nearby, we have some sweet bogs I guess (where murderers are denied entry so you know you will be safe).

I would second (fourth?) the MacBook Pro recommendation. I have been a Windows user forever, but I got a MacBook Pro from my previous employer last summer and I wouldn't want a PC laptop ever again (although I'm also using a DELL now, which I got from my current employer). I can't believe how many annoying little things there are about PC laptops that the Mac handles much better. Also, recently there are more and more games released for the Mac. Many indie games, Valve games, TellTale games, DeathSpank, Ass Creed II, Civ IV etc. I haven't done this myself but you can also install Windows on Mac with dual boot AFAIK. That said, the Macs are expensive, especially the ones with larger screens, and I probably wouldn't have bought one for myself if I had had to pay the full price myself. Well, I am paying for it now, but I got a sweet deal where I do a bit of work for my previous employer and get to keep the Mac in return.

Has anyone here played it? I suspect that it sucks, but I'd play it if it compares well to Gothic 3 or Risen.

Have you seen this feature-length GTAIV machinima? http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xfhffw_the-trashmaster-nouvelle-version-nouvelle-voix-off_video games#from=embed Quite impressive, but the bad voice acting is a bit of a turn off.

Ok, played the second one too ( ). Lovely game, I can't wait for the 3rd chapter. I really like the claymation style, the setting of the game and the puzzles.

I loved the first episode. Too bad one can only buy it via PayPal I'd like to avoid using PayPal if I can.

Just finished playing it. Man what a crappy story that drags on and on. There is no interesting gameplay really and yet the same story could be told in film in 1-2 hours. Still, something gripped me enough that I kept playing (it could also be that I'm sitting home with pneumonia and not much else to do)

No I'm past that bit, after "the truth" was revealed, it went to a loading screen, and then threw me into some white/gray place with pillars or something around me in a circle. Then it started loading again after a second or less and loaded the same place, and then again and again and again. I can't move in there and can't even open the menu screen easily without good timing.
-
Damn, I did The Truth after completing the story and now my game is stuck in an infinite loop in the animus. Got only 64%

Finished it. The structure is quite different, but I'm not sure if I like this more than AC2. I wonder where the next game will be set. ?
-
So I just started this after finishing AC2. Rome seems more interesting than the cities in AC2, and there seems to be even more stuff to do so that's cool. I realized I'm most into the exploration aspect of the game and Rome has more unique looking areas so that's cool. I'll probably ignore side missions (assassinations etc.) but try to collect all the treasure and stuff.

Yeah, I did them all but to be honest I didn't like the prince of persia style tomb sequences. It's like they took me out of the main game. I just started Brotherhood and the similar sequences there are better, though, at least the two I've run across so far.
-
Just finished it, and watched some making-of bits and a stupid prequel movie that game with the version of the game I bought. I have some very conflicting opinions about this game. But I don't feel like detailing them right now, maybe after I've played Brotherhood as well. In short: it's definitely a pretty damn good game, is enjoyable and improves on the first one quite a bit. On the other hand, I got bored of the gameplay about mid-game, at which point I stopped doing most of the side missions. My favourite bit from the game was searching for all the statues around the Montewhatever villa.

Quite a few Massively Multiplayer Online Playing Games there. Are those still successful besides WoW?
