Cutter Slade is definitely not ripped, but I think the others are new recordings as well.

I don't really have that intention, and as I understand there is no other difference between the K and not-K CPUs. By the time I'm lacking CPU power there will probably be newer CPUs available for the same chipset, no?

So I got most of my pieces now, and tomorrow will get case and psu. What I got: Intel Core i7 2600 (non-clockable) Gigabyte P67A-UD4 mobo Cooler Master HAF 932 case Corsair 750W PSU Kingston DDR3 2 x 4GB = 8GB RAM WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD Samsung DVD Writer A 8GB Mem stick Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit totalling about 940 EUR (ok I should exclude the memstick but whatever) Now it looks like I'll be exactly under budget if I go with the NVIDIA 560 Ti video card, or about 90 € over budget if I go with 570... Hmm... but if I've spent this much already, another 90 € doesn't sound that much.

I think I've entered this mode i.e. I've postponed this upgrade for almost a year, but now that I started planning it I want it TODAY! Ideally I'd get an Intel Sandy Bridge based mobo/CPU, but not sure since all the MOBO-s supposedly have SATA issues (but not in the two main ports and I don't plan on having more than two hard drives in there). This is what I'm thinking of getting: Intel Core i7 2600K Some motherboard that goes with it from Asus, Gigabyte, MSI NVIDIA 570 (or maybe 560 Ti, depending on what the other costs will be) 8GB RAM Cooler Master HAF 932 case or something of similar price range 750W PSU 1TB 7200RPM HDD I'm going with the manufacturer suggestions that were in the huge table in one of the older threads.

Also, are any of you using 64-bit OS-s? Is there any point in installing a 64-bit OS? Without it you can't go over 4GB of RAM, but is 4GB enough? I know 2GB isn't really enough for my everyday work, and maybe in a year 4GB won't be either...
-
BTW. Is the choice of socket / chipset important at all today? One can never keep up with that stuff. There are like 50 possible chipsets in a local price comparison site. I probably want an Intel i7 and a NVIDIA 560, but don't know about the other stuff. Budget is probably 1000-1200€ or maybe more if there's a good reason to spend more.

I'm also starting to build a new one. And I'll link the older threads here just so I can look them up more easily: I think it's time for me to upgrade my PC... Suggestions? Crap, apparently I don't have enough HD space to download the Crysis Wars Trial needed for this. Firefox seems to need TWICE the space that the file takes (one for the .part file). And I can't be bothered to try other downloaders. I gotta start building a new personal computation machine anyway, guess I will save it for that.

The "Duty Calls" demo/mock fails to install. Is it worth it to still bother with trying to get it running somehow or is it just a few minutes long joke on Call of Duty and other shooters?
-
Back to topic, the Open Outcast team has released the second tech demo - Oasis 1.1 some time ago. I'm gonna take a look to see how it has improved.

So this is another dead Outcast sequel? Weep. Haven't heard anything about it since 2007. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totems_%28video_game%29
-
This didn't deserve a new thread, and this was the closest one to put it in: I'm glad RPS is so consistent in recognizing Outcast as the 57th most important PC game of all time.

Some more footage n_Cn881LSnI This time with less ugly, and some actual interaction, and windmills. The previous RPS interview was odd due to the screens/video contents was very far from what the developer was saying. PS. the video says "this is only three weeks in". So they just started the project? This blog post confirms it: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2011/02/valley-without-wind-screenshots-and.html So basically what we can deduce is that the uglyness in no way portrayed the final product, it had been in development for less than 3 weeks!

IMHO, the shooter genre should die like the adventure genre did (ok, they're not dead but you know what I mean). Don't see that happening, though.

I haven't left the first area yet, but I remember the game telling me you can come back to any area.
-
And if the low-frame animations bother you at first -- you'll get used to them.

I stopped paying for the hosting, and the domain I bought started pointing to someone elses IP
-
Just finished it. I liked it a lot, but I'm a bit confused...
-
Thanks for the idea, that sounds good. But I'm not working on it any more at the moment I may pick it up again in a few months, depending on when a thing related to it will be planned. When it comes up, I'll try to complete a 'lite' version that is actually useful.

This is quite a cool little puzzle game. hhg2AmZ6ldc I don't remember buying it, but I discovered this in my Steam library. Possibly it came with some other game? When it comes to recent games about balls, I give: NightSky:tup::tup: Obulis:tup: The Ball:tmeh: (so far, haven't finished it)
-
Yeah, it's the stackingest game ever! My only quibble is that the movement controls are a bit sensitive.
-
I hope this Park guy doesn't turn out to be another Molyneux. The second part of the interview (I put the link in the original post) makes it sound like they have all these ideas but are not sure if they can actually do all that.

I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but the Adventure mode has never crashed on me (but is slooowww occasionally). Don't know if that says anything about whether they are fixed.
