  1. Portal 2

Yes! Almost every time with that round beam that carries stuff, I forgot that I can just make a portal and walk through it. Only when I thought I was stuck, I remembered I can do that.
  2. Portal 2

Yeah, I think it was a reply to this:
  3. Minecraft

Will do at some point once I've played some more SP. Haven't been there for months. I saw a earlier today. Didn't know about those, only saw it from afar at night and it was too risky to go closer. Thought maybe it was a bug
  4. Portal 2

Haha. If anyone is seriously considering to be an Idle Thumbs reference, you are clinically insane.
  5. Portal 2

Yeah, that stuff was awesome, but I think there was another not so awesome side to that (or maybe unrelated): some debris and collapsed structures were really detailed, but in the physics engine they seemed to be pretty much box-shaped and there was a larger than usual mismatch between graphics detail and physics detail. It's a really small point though, I don't hold it against them.
  6. Portal 2

Whoa. I haven't launched the game again, but the Steam stats now jumped to 10 hours! So it's definitely lying occasionally. I believe I may have actually spent close to 10 hours, 6 is too little as I had a 4-5 h session, a 1+h and a 2+h session.
  7. Portal 2

In my case it's just not compatible with my sense of humour. But I did like everything else besides the writing, and even the writing was ok about half of the time. It's just there were a lot of times when the game was trying too hard to be funny. I've still to try the coop and I wish there were some challenge rooms, but I'll probably not play through it again for dev commentary.
  8. Portal 2

Just finished. Steam says 6 hours but I think it was probably closer to 8. Anyway, not too long, I could have played a couple of more hours, but some areas did have me stumped for a long time: some of them jumps where you have to launch yourself from smaller jumps and shoot a new portal mid-air were somewhat finicky. I really enjoyed the puzzles and stuff, but I have to partially agree with n0wak -- it just wasn't funny most of the time.
  9. Portal 2

Ok, so apparently I skipped a part, I did this (someone made a video of the same thing):
  10. Portal 2

WTF. (Spoiler for chapter 6) How did
  11. Minecraft

Whoa. I had just completed my underwater glass railroad tunnel and was taking a test ride when I heard a horrible noise, like water rushing. I thought there was a leak and looked around. Then I realized it had started raining for the first time! Nice. But the rain is WAY too blue.
  12. Minecraft

Woot! The 1.5 stuff was actually what made me come back to playing it and now it's out: http://notch.tumblr.com/post/4746701552/minecraft-beta-1-5-and-some-thoughts-on-this-blog * Weather (rain, snow, thunder) * Statistics * Achievements * Detector rail * Booster rail * Performance improvements
  13. Buying a New PC

This is what I got: Intel Core i7 2600 (non-clockable) Gigabyte P67A-UD4 mobo NVIDIA 560 Ti Cooler Master HAF 932 case Corsair 750W PSU Kingston DDR3 2 x 4GB = 8GB RAM WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD cheap Samsung DVD Writer Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit totalling about 1280 € It's pretty damn good. Plays recent games like Portal 2 with maxed details (though I haven't tried something like Crysis 2), but my max resolution is 1280x1024. And it doesn't actually heat the room much. When the CPU is idle, the amazing airflow of that case makes the room seem colder near the PC. It's a big case though.
  14. Portal 2

Just made it to chapter 3 (I think it was). It's fun so far, quite like the previous game, and gorgeous. The half-broken testing chambers really add a lot of atmosphere compared to the original's clinical rooms. (I think this isn't really a spoiler if you've watched trailers and stuff, but just to be safe...) (this is a spoiler)
  15. Portal 2

So this actually wasn't so safe to say after all? I think Episode 1 or 2 were longer than 5-8 hours or about the same length?
  16. Non-video games

Played another game as Keeper. This one was really close. But again I couldn't keep track of all the investigator statuses and mostly lost because of ineffective use of Trauma / Mythos cards, though I played a lot of them. I had lots of threat near the end, but the investigators had one good tactic that thwarted my attempts of victory and just as I was eventually about to win anyway, they managed to beat me with the last die roll they had left.
  17. The Plague of Visual C++ Redis.

Um... I think the point was I can't ignore them because they pop up in places like the uninstall panel, alongside stuff I do care about. Witness the screenshot At least windows 7 doesn't try to put every security update into that list, or at least I haven't noticed.
  18. The Plague of Visual C++ Redis.

It's fine that games that need different versions of these actually bundle the different versions but why the fuck couldn't they just be files in the game's bin folder without the need to remind me that they exist...
  19. Minecraft

Thanks, I did find some gravel, but had gotten hopelessly lost by then so I killed myself. Strangely, when I went back there were two portals right next to each other.
  20. Minecraft

I've been playing Minecraft again a bit (hadn't played since 1.2 or something) and I got stuck in Nether without a Flint. Portal went out, how the hell do I get back? I wouldn't want to die, I have lots of stuff (yeah my own stupidity that I brought the stuff to Nether).
  21. Portal 2

It's too bad this doesn't seem to make it much earlier than the actual release date, but maybe their calculations take into account how many people were normally playing those potato sack games and the number of additional people who started playing them for this wasn't really that great?
  22. Non-video games

Yeah, me too, I've only played 3 games. I guess I can't tell you about that until I've played 20 or so. Which might be a long time from now. I'm hoping some fans will figure out how to create new stories without the need for lots of new cards.
  23. Non-video games

I just completed my first session as the Keeper. Even more fun! For me at least. A few turns during the game I missed some things I could have done better and near the end I didn't have very much loose threat to spend as I had to spend it moving monsters to have any chance of winning, but it was incredibly fun trying to control the events and take advantage of every little thing that would make the game go more my way. But the investigators got me. Well, we realized I was pretty much screwed when the timer on the last event card was revealed. I had 3 turns to move a monster 9 spaces. I could have done it if I had incredible luck, but instead the investigators somehow got extra lucky and killed the shoggoth in one turn.
  24. Ok, there's no such subtitle, but HOMM 6 is coming out in a few months. Is anyone looking forward to it? Personally, I'm in between. I liked the series, although I only finished the first two games and got somewhat bored by each of the later ones pretty soon. After playing King's Bounty, I realized what I think the HOMM series is missing: a sense of humour. The games take their generic fantasy worlds way too seriously. King's Bounty was able to get rid of that serious feeling by being wacky and actually made me somewhat interested in the story and world. But I couldn't give a rats arse for any of the HOMM stories.

So it's like Reverse Polish Notation ? Now I'm getting interested.
