  1. The Witcher 2

Does GOG also encrypt the files so you can only play once it unlocks?
  2. The Witcher

Ah, fuck it. I'm going to replay this again, to prepare for Witcher 2. If I already have the normal European Enhanced Edition, there's no point in getting the Steam Director's Cut version, right? [edit] Argh, my Enhanced Edition installers are corrupted. Have to redownload. However, I can't find the two additional stories any more: "Side Effects" and "The Price of Neutrality". Does anyone know where they can be downloaded from? [edit2] Aha, found them by searching by the file name. Linky
  3. Mount and Blade: Warbands

Argh, the Warband multiplayer is tough. I haven't played it much in almost a year so I'm rusty, and I'm getting my ass whooped all the time. Lost 20 duels in a row. Only managed to win some by well-timed but lucky chamber blocks.
  4. Mount and Blade: Warbands

Probably not worth the purchase. I bought it mostly because I'd like to give them money as last year I spent more time playing Warband than all other games together probably.
  5. Mount and Blade: Warbands

Yeah, the World Map is especially bland. And you spend maybe half of the game there, waiting for your guy to reach the next town/village.
  6. The Witcher 2

Didn't know that. But that's probably not enough reason for me to replay it again. I've already completed it twice (or was it thrice). I ended up making most of the same choices anyway.
  7. The Witcher 2

    Maybe, if you push it
  8. Hacking

Yeah, that was one of the few things I loved about Doom 3. Thanks for reminding me.
  9. The Witcher 2

Well, there seemed to be a couple of things in there that other games haven't done, like people gathering around fires. At least I can't rememeber any other RPGs besides Gothic* that have gone beyond the: in the morning, get to work, do your stuff there, in the evening go home. But it will probably be as transparent as you think. As to the quality, I'm sure it'll be better** than The Witcher, which had bugs which were eventually fixed, and some aesthetic dialogue and character model issues, but on the whole was awesome! Have you played the first game? I forget. * and I think even in Gothic everything more intricate was scripted? ** based on that this is their second game, which might mean they are better at doing thing, unless they fall into the second system trap, which they may have because they made their own engine (which probably means more bugs [trying to lessen my expectations here]). [edit]I edited this post like 6 times.
  10. Bitchy thread tags

Damn, this thread now has the maximum number of tags and I can't tag it any more.
  11. The Witcher 2

So, it's coming out in a week. I'm getting really excited. From what has been said so far about it, it looks like it might be my favourite RPG ever. Man, I'm setting myself up to disappointment. Some new videos, via RPS: xJ0-ogRF8KU wbluGI47VUQ
  12. Hacking

Yeah, I think it's just that the world is seeing that maybe most of the web shouldn't be all that Flashy. Or that you can get similar results with JavaScript and stuff and that still integrates better with HTML.
  13. The great Valve re-play

Played Episode 2 today. Still my favourite Half-Life. I played both Episodes on easy to save time and avoid save/load in the few big fights. It became too easy, but I can't imagine completing that final fight with the Striders and Hunters on Hard. It seemed very close even now. The games are definitely more interesting on Normal or Hard, but I'm glad I played easy because I wasn't really looking for a challenge this time. Now I can't wait for Episode 3 again. It better be awesome!
  14. Games News and Gaming News

Hmm... I don't have time to read comments usually. In RPS there seem to be always so many comments, maybe a small part of them are interesting discussion?
  15. Mount and Blade: Warbands

Warband is that version currently, judging by that forum poll I linked to. It's also got very decent multiplayer. I played 400 hours last year! (shudder)
  16. BRINK

This looks like a decent take on parkour, even if it seems a bit clumsy: Q21y36x4dsc Of course, not quite like in this trailer: NgjHO1lEsIs I might also buy this if people say it's good, but more likely not as I don't really play multiplayer shooters. Is there any single player component?
  17. The great Valve re-play

Played it. I didn't remember half the stuff that was in Episode 1. According to Steam I played 103 minutes, but the game crashed in credits so maybe that's why it's lying. I probably played for more than 5 hours.
  18. The great Valve re-play

Just completed Half-Life 2. Took me 16 hours. I'm thinking of going to Episode 1 or 2 next... but I can't remember if I thought ep. 1 was good or not, because I can't remember which parts where in what episode. So, what was in Ep 1? I remember a trudge through citadel buildings(?) with Alyx and coming out of a cave and seeing a bridge collapse... and...?
  19. Bitchy thread tags

I can! Unless it goes over 100.
  20. Mount and Blade: Warbands

Oh wait, apparently With Fire and Sword doesn't have tournaments, ruling your own kingdom and some other features from Warband. I hear it's mostly because it was originally based on the original Mount & Blade, not Warband. Read it from some comments here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,168249.15.html Not sure which game to play now...
  21. Bitchy thread tags

IMHO, as these forums are not very actively moderated, it's better to remove the tags than to start moderating them in some way. Personally, I'm like Dan and never notice them unless someone points them out.
  22. Mount and Blade: Warbands

The new game, With Fire and Sword is out. It kind of seems a bit shit at first glance, though -- at least the multiplayer, firearms seem to bring an unbalance into the mix. They seem less precise than bows, but instead of aim getting worse when you hold it, it gets better, so it's really dangerous to go too close to a firearms guy before he has fired. And he probably has two guns because the reloading takes a while and so you don't know if it's safer after he has fired, either. And they didn't fix my only big problem with the single player game: the waiting around when travelling big distances on the map. And I'm not sure I like the firearms in SP either. But the map and era are different and more connected to the real world. They even have my home town (Reval) in there. And it looks like you can send caravans to earn money for you without being in the caravan yourself. For that, I might play this when I get the urge, instead of finishing my Warband game.
  23. Far Cry 3

Do we even know if it's a (spiritual) sequel to Far Cry 2 or if it's more of a sequel to the original? They are completely different games.
  24. The great Valve re-play

I'm replaying Half-Life 2. Some post in another thread made me want to play the Water Hazard and Highway 17 sections again, and since I didn't have any saves I'm playing the whole game. Man, it's much longer than I remember. And occasionally boring. I'm not a big FPS fan so the sections where loads of soldiers are coming at you are tiring. But it still plays great and I love it. But this thing where they always have you in control, plus the fact that I already know the story: it means I'm messing around a lot when the NPCs are speaking which kind of breaks the immersion. I might play Ep. 2 and 3 after this and maybe Half-Life Source. Though I've tried to replay Half-Life several times and never got to the end. I just don't like the original game that much, although I respect that it was doing great things at it's time.
  25. Risen 2: Rise Harder

Here we go again. And they even admit there might be a problem with that, and then cocksurely wave it off: I hope it doesn't turn into Gothic 3. Man, I'd be glad if it was smaller than Risen 1 but more packed. Quotes were from Eurogamer interview.
