  1. Deus Ex 3

I think the new game feels a little less an immersive SIM and a little more an adventure game. Maybe that's just from the way I'm playing it, and I'm not saying that's bad. But there seems to be a lack of reaction from NPCs. I can jump down from a roof into the middle of a crowded street using the Icarus aug and no-one will pay any mind.
  2. Life

I bought an apartment today. Yay!
  3. Deus Ex 3

Just got to China. Definitely getting a more Deus Ex 1 vibe than Deus Ex 2. I think my main problem with Deus Ex 2, IIRC, was the plot and the fact that you could work for both sides at the same time, kind of. The hubs in Deus Ex 2 were also more cramped, this seems to be between 1 and 2, I think. But my memory is hazy.
  4. Deus Ex 3

I haven't looked at all the augs yet, but I suppose that could be useful in exploration as well? In the first hub there are a couple of areas where electricity was preventing quicker access.
  5. Deus Ex 3

I brought a weapon to the first boss fight because I'd heard I should. Still, I think my ammo wasn't enough to do him in (I think I had two clips of machine pistol ammo + more pistol). I ended up throwing the barrels (but I threw more and it didn't seem as easy as in that video, I'm on the Gimme Deus Ex difficulty). I ended up using an AI dumbness where he couldn't enter a side room that had some ammo and stuff stashed. I was able to hide in a corner of that room so that his grenades didn't hurt me and he couldn't get a line of sight to me. Occasionally I peeked out and shot him in the face, and threw a couple of grenades. I think he may have hurt himself with his own grenades as well (didn't see as I was hiding in that corner). Anyway, it wasn't fun. Thanks for the hints for preparing for the next one, though I hate that I have to do it.
  6. Deus Ex 3

It's good. It seems to combine the best elements from both previous games. So far I've gotten the social aug and some hacking improvements. Haven't killed anyone yet, but in an effort to ghost the first mission, I forgot to a side objective which resulted in some casualties.
  7. Deus Ex

    I spill my drink!
  8. Deus Ex

Right. Now I remember, respawning was the main reason I stopped. After playing and loving Far Cry 2, maybe it'll not seem so bad now? Did you play the whole game without respawning?
  9. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

Hmm... It's not obvious that's was going on. There were also other cut-scenes (or just camera pans) that were not between levels, none of which were skippable. Restarting a level required watching the intro speech again each time.
  10. Deus Ex

I started it somewhere around 2006-7 probably, but for some reason it didn't captivate me enough to make me finish it. I got bored after 10 hours or so. Also, I don't like BioShock much. But I loved Ultima Underworld. I'd like to give it another try some time, though.
  11. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

I'm not getting the refund. I just finished the game and enjoyed it, except for the times when I wanted to saw Eric Chahi's head off. Which wasn't actually that often. But for fucks sake: DON'T MAKE ME WATCH THE SAME CUTSCENE BETWEEN EVERY LEVEL! (at least make it skippable) DON'T MAKE A COMPLETELY IDIOTIC CONTROL SYSTEM (even a slight change -- WASD = move camera, mouse = move breath only -- would have been a huge improvement)
  12. Bastion

Anyone else finding themselves humming that song?
  13. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

This game is infuriating. All these non-skippable videos, some of which are the SAME for EVERY LEVEL! Stuppid buttons that don't always work. So awesome when I urgently need to put out a fire, but the button does nothing because I have something selected. The first level with the fire trees is really annoying me and I want to saw Eric Chahi's head off.
  14. Bastion

Just finished it. I was only at level 5 at the end, so I guess I missed some things (there seem to be 10 levels). I didn't spend much time in the dream sequences, but got first prize at most of the proving grounds. Pretty sweet game. The gameplay is nothing special, but it's not bad either and it's fun getting all the weapons and skills. I think the narrator was almost perfect. I don't think I ever heard a repeated line. For example, he would just be silent if I went back to a proving ground and he had nothing new to say. The music is great. The visuals are good, but occasionally you can't easily distinguish between walkable and fall-downable areas. But it's not a big problem. Also, the WASD keys don't move you exactly along the isometric lines, which also makes it easier to fall down, but there's supposedly a command line option for that (which I didn't try). I liked building the bastion, getting the achievements (or were they called something else, the ones in the memorial building), finding new stuff. The game almost brought out the completionist in me, but since I don't have that much free time right now, I didn't bother getting quite everything -- missing one achievement, didn't try playing with the idols enabled. I chose the second ending, I think -- . It was a good ending, but maybe the other one is better?
  15. Hard Reset

That looks pretty good, but seems kind of simplistic (I guess like Painkiller). Looks like there are so many conveniently placed machines everywhere that it would be hard to just shoot and not make something explode or cause electrical malfunction.
  16. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

It's not absolute shit, but it is a sucky port. I don't like the controls or the camera behaviour.
  17. Bastion

I played it yesterday and had no problems. But there was an update today, I think.
  18. Unity3D

The goal should be to release the Moon from it's Earth orbit and crash it into the Sun.
  19. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

The demo is surprisingly good. This could be the next Chronicles of Riddick i.e. licensed game that not only doesn't suck but is actually excellent. I'm probably displaying my ignorance here since surely there have been a few more recent games like that, not to mention Fate of Atlantis and such.
  20. Dishonored - or - GIFs By Breckon

There are more screenshots in the Eurogamer preview (haven't read it myself yet). You can resume now
  21. Dishonored - or - GIFs By Breckon

I think I killed two threads with one swoop.
  22. I don't remember the episode, but I just played it and kind of liked it. Maybe not fun, but it's not bad for a 7 day game.
  23. Bastion

These Xbox-only games (From Dust, Trenched, Bastion) make me want to get my RRODed Xbox repaired, but maybe I'll just wait for the PC versions.
  24. Recettear: An Item Shop's Sale

Hmm... since I found the dungeon crawling to be a really boring part of Recettear, I'm not interested.
