  1. New people: Read this, say hi.

7113 reversed is 3117 which is the BEEP protocol, therefore the answer is BEEP*.

Uh... Byzantine calendar, Time of Troubles, 7113, Dmitri Medvedev... I got nothing
  3. Deus Ex 3

Yeah, it wasn't that hard. I also played on the hardest ("Give me Deus Ex", was it?) and didn't find it too hard when I played stealthy (but I did load a lot of games when getting killed by just a couple of shots)

What has Actinides to do with it.
  5. Rock of Ages

Yeah, I think the state is saved any time you get a key, probably. Agreed. I'm trying to collect all the keys now and it's annoying, especially the FIRST wait. At least one should be able to start rolling right away at the beginning of the level.
  6. Rock of Ages

Finished the campaign. After a few levels, I thought I'd seen most of what it has to offer and would get bored after a couple of more levels. The first part of that was true, but I didn't really get bored. It didn't get a whole lot more interesting either, but it was captivating enough that I played for a couple of hours straight. The art history theme was less prominent than I expected, because the things you mostly look at are repeating from level to level. Only a few levels I rememeber as being rather distinct. The boss battles are kind of too easy, but not too boring. Compared to Deus Ex, The balance seemed good, most levels were pretty close. I thought I'd try some levels without building defences, just focusing on the rolling, but that didn't work because what are you going to do while your ball is being rebuilt? The pause there is kind of good and kind of bad. Good because it makes you play defense as well. Bad because what if you really don't want to or just don't have enough money to spend the whole time building. Most of the time I quickly built a few defences in a single place and then found out I was out of money, and just waited for my rock to be built. The defences building kind of seemed a weak part of the game, even if the above wasn't an issue. Usually they didn't buy me more than a few or a few tens of seconds, rarely were they enough to change the flow of the game (like de-syncing mine and my enemies roll times). Smashing things was fun, though. Getting all the keys on each level wasn't usually possible later in the game if I wanted to win as well, but you can get them separately and still keep them if you don't win.
  7. Deus Ex 3

DON'T SELL OFF THE MINES. And maybe buy more. 10 frag grenades/mines should be more than enough. Mines are maybe better because they don't roll. EMP is useful against some bosses too, stunning them. I think it's easier to just spam them with mines rather than using some cleverer strategy.
  8. TerRover

There's the King's Bounty remake. And Vangers (a quite old weird driving action/RPG). I don't know more off the top of my head. Don't see anything that would make them near being the same genre.
  9. Minecraft

Liking it so far. Found a ravine, some endermen, haven't found a village yet. Do they appear in old worlds? It seems the game has become easier -- food is easier to find and damage seems to be reduced? Or it could be just the regenerating health, but I was much less scared of monsters and was never close to dying when walking around at night. I like it.
  10. Rock of Ages

So I tried to play it, but I can't get past the first tutorial. I can't select any other level (or don't know the magic button), so I'm stuck playing the first one again and again. [€dit] haha, there was a small arrow button that appeared next to the FIRST tutorial after I completed it (or maybe was there all the time). My bad. Except that it's stupid to make me click on the level I completed instead of the next one.
  11. Deus Ex 3

Considering the state of AAA games nowadays, I think it's a miracle how good (and PC) it is! Not saying it's necessarily better than the original, just has better graphics, sound etc. The original Deus Ex was kind of an outlier (considering the breadth of systems/mechanics), and DXHR is pretty close to it.
  12. The Witness by Jonathan Blow

Brainy Gamer interviewed Jonathan Blow http://www.brainygamer.com/the_brainy_gamer/2011/08/brainy-gamer-podcast-episode-35-pt-3.html Well, it's more of a series of tangents and segues than an interview, but it was interesting.
  13. Deus Ex 3

For what it's worth, I played through the Standard Edition and it didn't feel like anything was missing.
  14. Deus Ex 3

Not really. At least not if you are like me and turn off the object highlights as the first thing you do. I even turned off the targeting reticule. Found no in-game mention of DLC either, though that doesn't mean there wasn't any.
  15. Deus Ex 3

I actually did that part with the tranq. rifle, standing where I landed. And even without the aiming aid, which I had but had not discovered how to use yet.
  16. Deus Ex 3

I found frag mines and frag grenades to be my best resource in most boss battles. For most of the game I dragged big automatic weapons around in fear of the bosses -- Heavy Rifle + Combat Rifle/Laser Rifle/Machine Pistol (remember, I was playing a stealthy, non-lethal guy!) but in the end it was just a waste of inventory space, mines + grenades were what saved me (although EMP to stun + heavy rifle probably helped in the second one).
  17. Minecraft

Yeah, but timing might be important in these cases. I think anger at not getting the product you wanted sooner would be justified if there were some explicit promises (including dates) made before/during purchase (like, on the website). I don't remember if that was the case. But I kind of understand the disappointment. It's getting close to a year since the single player Minecraft got a major update, I think?
  18. Minecraft

I don't think any complaints about speed of development are justified. I've only noticed them on this forum as I'm not really participating in Minecraft community. Minecraft has given me more hours of fun for $10 (or whatever the price was exactly) than most other games. With $20 it would still be so. I really don't get where this entitlement is coming from. It smells a bit like envy. And what if he does (not expressing any opinion about whether he does or doesn't)? That would be great. I would love to work 4 hours a day. If someone manages to do that and be successful, I think that's great. Programmers working 8h are usually not really productive for more than 6 hours a day anyway.
  19. Deus Ex 3

    Do all the endings ?
  20. Deus Ex 3

I think I'm going to start a second playthrough now. I was playing stealthy non-lethal tranq/stun guy mostly, but programmed some bots to kill enemies. Might try a ghost approach, i.e. just avoiding enemies. The lethal weapons approach doesn't interest me somewhy. I wonder if there are differences in dialogues if you don't upgrade any augs?
  21. Deus Ex 3

Finished. In just 28 hours according to Steam. I liked it that the ending depended on
  22. Deus Ex 3

Is anyone else experiencing crashes with the PC version? They happen every 2 hours or so for me, sometimes more often. I even had a quicksave corrupted once.
  23. Life

Well, there was a peak in 2007 or so when it was 1600 € to 2500 € per square meter for large-ish apartments that I looked at in Tallinn. The prices fell, and haven't really rised a lot again, and now I payed less than 1000 € per square meter. But that price was rather exceptional for a new or renovated apartment, most that I looked at were 1300 - 1900 €. I haven't really looked at the centre, where there are some way more expensive ones and prices probably start at 1600 or so.
  24. Life

The bank owns about half my ass. I think it's the left cheek. It's not entirely awesome. I just didn't find anything that had all the properties I wanted and be affordable without a 20-30 year loan, so I settled for something that is more or less ok and I could pay off in a small number of years. It's not too small and is close to a forest/park where I like to go running/biking, which I haven't done a lot lately, so I hope to start doing more of that once I've moved in. I'm generally happy about it, the only real issue is that it's on the edge of town and not well integrated with the city space. But at least buses go to the centre every half an hour or so.
  25. Deus Ex 3

Yeah, I think I am. It's been a long time since I played Deus Ex.
