Played some more Riddick and the stealth seems totally broken. I don't know if Dark Arena introduced new bugs or what, but I remember it being better. It was probably never the best stealth game, but now it's like this: I hold the Shift (walk) button which is supposed to roughly mean "walk silently" or else there is no point to it at all, and a fucking noisy mech guard can hear me from 30 meters away. Only crouching makes any kind of silence happen. In another situation, I moved behind a guard who was scripted to have his back to me until I kill him, as silently as possible, and a when I got to a couple of meters distance from him, he turned around and attacked me. I guess it is possible that there was a camera that caught me and he noticed the camera doing funny things, though.

I decided to play Arena while Skyrim is still not available here.

pressed new game instead of save game

Also noticed I have some Steam gifts that are not given yet: Half-Life 2: Episode 1 Puzzle Agent

Crap. I made my way out of the first dungeon, then accidentally the ... Also, finding that these old school interfaces are a bit much to tolerate nowadays, so I guess I'll try to find my Morrowind savegames instead, if they still exist. Meanwhile, local retailer says Skyrim is coming to their shelves, but there are supply difficulties. I think Steam might have the same problem -- they ran out of copies.

Is the motion detection really that much better with MotionPlus? I didn't notice any problems with the Twilight Princess' controls.
-
Does it require the MotionPlus thingie? I'm not buying a peripheral just for this, otherwise I'd play it.

Cock fuckering shit cock! The PC version has now disappeared from the local retailer's website where I saw it before. So has the PS3 version for some reason. Another store's website shows a fucking Russian language version (priced at 15€ btw, as Russian games are always way cheaper). I'm still willing to wait a bit to see how this resolves (I will probably ask the local retailer), but looks like I might have to go through some hoops to get it (ordering from abroad; pirating and donating the money to Mojang, the creators of the game; using some kind of VPN trick to unlock it in Steam or another digital service)

I'll be mailing the games requested so far in the next couple of days. If there are no more requests within two weeks or so, I'll offer the remaining games to other people as well (probably my colleagues as many of them happen to be gamers).

I played Daggerfall when it came out (not for long, because it seemed too overwhelming), but haven't played Arena. And I didn't know Daggerfall was free as well. Actually I found out it was before writing this post and installed that too, but even the tutorial doesn't work. Maybe it can be tuned in DosBox settings, but mouse swings barely work (seems that holding a button registers as several presses). Anyway, I'll probably play Arena for a bit just to get a taste of how the series started. Actually, I should probably (re)play Morrowind some time because I never finished that (think I was close to the end, though). Oblivion is the only TES game I did finish.

Hmm... I'm playing Riddick now and I just can't be bothered with the stealth somewhy. I remember enjoying it when I played the original (non-Dark Athena version). Perhaps it's just that everything is so familiar that it's no longer interesting, so I'm just cruising through the action parts, shooting heads off. Also could be that I played on hard previously, which made stealth more important.

Some interesting well-written blog posts about RDR: http://brindlebrothers.blogspot.com/2011/11/assassination-of-rockstar-by-coward.html WARNING: THE POST LINKED BELOW CONTAINS A MAJOR SPOILER ALREADY IN THE SECOND SENTENCE: http://ambientchallenge.blogspot.com/2011/10/dead-end.html

You could post such things in the Random Ramblings thread

I have skipped most of your posts in fear of spoilers. I read that elmuerte had some crashes, but are there many bugs besides flying mammoths? even if it shows up in local stores in 2 days, maybe it would be smarter to wait for patches?

I played Grubbins on Ice last week and I must say the combat is somehow more boring than in the main game. EVERY battle except two went the same way: (targeting healers first) normal attack normal attack normal attack - normal attack normal attack normal attack - special attack (maybe defensive) special attack special attack - normal attack normal attack normal attack (less a few attacks if the enemies died quicker) (none of my guys died)
-
Yeah, it's kind of fun, but I prefer my stealth to be slower. Trilby: Art of Theft was more enjoyable.

I assume you meant re-enter not remember? Anyway, I've been doing it at least since 2005 and it's not that much of a hassle to do it every 40 days (or less often as you probably don't need a crediit card every day). It's also really more of a debit card masquerading as credit card because no actual credit is involved.
-
Ah, a local store is saying that the PC game will be in stores on the 16th of November. Not too bad situation then.
-
I've never had a physical credit card, I use virtual VISA credit cards that are valid for only 40 days and have a limit that I set. I don't know if that's commonly offered by banks elsewhere, only one bank offers it here. They become active immediately when I order it from my online bank.

Lalalala. I can't hear you. Fucking shit. [edit] That quote may be incorrect. Anyway, I'll wait for more info, maybe it's just delayed here. [edit 2] Oh, from what I gather from various posts on Steam forums and what seems more likely than the above, is that 1C (a Russian company) has some time-limited exclusive distribution rights for the PC version in our region and the game will appear on Steam in a month. Hmm... if that's true, I might wait. Or I might get the PS3 version instead, which is already in stores here, I think. Or I might pirate the PC version, but I'm concerned if that could somehow fuck my steam account.
-
But it's not like the region blocking is better in any way than DRM. Seems worse. Again they have found a way to screw legitimate customers, and meanwhile my search for "skyrim steam" on google already brought up some thepiratepay results so I'm assuming it has been pirated already and this blocking didn't in any way prevent that.
-
It seems so. I guess I see some reasoning behind it -- many people here still pirate games. I don't know the percentages or anything, but it seems like most do that for PC games. I searched on google, the steam forums have been offline for a while, but I found some cached posts: "i am from Lithuania , RAGE , ES V Skyrim, Dirt 3, Fable 3, Dead Rising 2, SSFIV, Lost Planet 2 are locked in my region for no reason. " Seems to be the same in Estonia -- I'm not seeing those games either (no search results).

Hm... Why is it that my Steam client has no idea whatsoever about Skyrim. Even if I search anonymously on store.steampowered.com, nothing shows up. The game is on Steam for most people, right? Could it be just that it's not on Steam in my country or what? I think I saw it there a month or so ago, but I might be wrong. Maybe I should get a Direct2Drive account...?
