I used to play this and loved it but stopped when Zynga bought it. Is there a non-Zynga alternative?

Awesome! From Binding Isaac I got 50% off Trials Second Edition, which I already own, and which is currently 75% off!
-
Apparently Binding of Isaac needs a 3rd party app to sync achievements to Steam. http://forums.steamgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2216833 [edit] yay! it worked!
-
Argh, now I actually managed to do the Binding of Isaac achievement (was very lucky) but Steam didn't recognize this It did recognize the Psychonauts one a bit earlier, though. Also crafted a gift, got 33% off any THQ game. I guess it would be useful only if the next Metro came out while the coupon is valid. (I don't know what the relase date is, was supposed to be 2012)

I want my crappy gift back, Steam! Damn you! I bet it wasn't even a coal. I think the servers were overloaded at the moment when I was supposed to get something. I also didn't see my coal in the inventory for a while and once it even showed up completely empty.
-
Also I hadn't played Binding of Isaac before and man that game is hard. I doubt I'll get the achievement. Edmund McMillen is perverted.

Crap. I connected my facebook account to steam, then saw a notification that i had something new in my inventory, but there's nothing new there
-
I was kind of leaning towards joining the Stormcloaks, but didn't want to pick a side until I find out more about
-
If you didn't have that, that's an awesome thing to receive!

You running a coal mine or something?

I suspect that personally I play games in almost the most boring way possible. Mage is usually the most interesting way to play RPG's, but I'm not a big fan of mages. I also usually play the good guy. I would prefer 'true neutral' (as it was in Baldur's Gate), but Skyrim for example doesn't give you that choice often. Some quests are good, some are evil. Sometimes you can make a very obviously good/evil choice. Most people in Skyrim play warrior (don't remember where I read that) and so do I. I think it's just the obvious way to play -- this game is about Vikings, after all. I do plan to actually go Thief and Assassin after I'm done with the main quest, though (and feel kind of bad that I decided to forgo the opportunity of getting a certain powerful dagger that would probably be perfect for the latter).

Hmm... I wonder if the gifts are truly random or does it give more other things than coal at first and later gives more coal. Before I even did anything conciously, I received Dota 2, then 25% off Stronghold, then Garry's mod. And at that time I had only 3 coals. Now I have 11 coals (it was a busy evening) and haven't gotten any other things after Garry's mod. ps. fuck I keep writing 'goal' instead of 'coal'. I don't know why.

Did you ever play Thievery UT? It's an UT mod, heavily inspired by Thief but multiplayer -- some players are thieves and some are guards. (Nachimir worked on that I think). I played some of it, but it was less fun in practice than in theory.
-
Do you want Garry's mod or 25% off Stronghold 3 (currently 33% off) for Hoard? (i also have puzzle agent, half life, hl 2 ep 1, but I assume you have those) PS. I started doing the game achievements, unfortunately I have very few of them installed and Steam servers are too busy to download the others BTW Aren't those X% off things cumulative? e.g. if the game is currently Y% off and I have an X% off item, it would be (X+Y)% off?

A coal

the following is safe to read for elmuerte but spoils a previous posts

Can we trade coal for coal and then get an extra coal for that? Bleh. I'm kind of ignoring this campaign, but I'll gladly trade away * my single piece of coal * Dota 2 gift??? I don't know how I got this * Half-Life (1) gift * Puzzle agent gift * Half-Life 2 Episode One gift * Any Team Fortress hats or stuff, since I don't play that game BTW Alice for 12.50€. Sounds good? I'll probably not getting it though, as I am very unlikely to find the time to play it.

So I completed the Mages quests . It was probably the most interesting quest line so far, but Tanu, good to hear, I will try to unbork a couple of broken quests later as well.

It seems I'm no longer getting souls from killed dragons At least I definitely didn't get from the last one, and maybe the one before. And so much cool words to unlock.

I missed these behind the scenes videos earlier: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/11/16/risen-2-creators-on-exotic-pirate-setting/ http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/12/23/the-drunk-the-orderly-risen-2s-factions/ Getting excited about this. I hope it will be smaller than Skyrim, but I doubt it if they have several islands the size of Risen 1.

I have almost the same feeling about dungeons. I love discovering unique or cool-looking ones, but I hate the ones that take 30 minutes or more to complete. I wish that the dungeons were generally smaller, so that I could be done with each in 10 minutes or less.

Holy crap, I've played 75 hours already. I've explored a big part of the world now, though. I think Solitude is the only major town I haven't visited. I went to the Mages college and started dabbling with magic -- I hadn't even touched it so far besides using Healing a few times. It's really strange how the mouse controls work for magic -- left mouse button for the RIGHT hand and right mouse button for the LEFT hand. How the fuck does this make sense? Also, I can now put some level-ups to Magic because there's no real need to increase Stamina any more -- I got the heavy armor perk that reduces its weight to zero and removes movement penalties. I also got my inventory management somehow under control (less potions mostly and I gave up carrying single-handed weapon and some staffs that I almost never used), and surprisingly have been able to pick up mostly anything I want and haven't even got close to weight limit in two real-world days. I guess it's because I haven't killed a lot of dragons recently. Have ran into some slightly broken quests where I have picked up the quest item too early and the game won't recognize that; and then some quests are done but I can't remove the unused quest items from my inventory or otherwise get rid of them.

Good, that gave me some ideas for my own wish list. I had trouble keeping it at 10 or more.
-
I did that too, and I looked for a long time for an alternative, even quick loading a couple of times and using Become Ethereal to look around while avoid getting killed by that guy. But there wasn't an alternative, or at least I didn't find it.

Yeah, the Steam sale seems underwhelming this year. Probably because there have been so many sales already.
