  1. The Godfather: Why Even Bother

EA's unsavory practices hardly end at the employee abuse, their production-line mentality towards games basically insures it will suck. If you don't have a strong producer who has a vision, the game can aspire to nothing other than mediocrity at best.
  2. Piece of Silence *early spoiler*

I just appreciate a concise idea. Though overblown treatises have their own appeal.
  3. Piece of Silence *early spoiler*

No one's going to read that, sucker!
  4. Extended Family

...his neck isn't nearly as long as I've been led to believe.
  5. Extended Family

Who is that anyway, one of the staff? I'd hate to get clobbered with that left-jab, letmetellya!
  6. Kurt Cobain

He was a heroin addict, in case you guys forgot. Most people are suicidal before they start the golden brown. EDIT: Thank you, although his Amelia Airheart fixation was just as troubling.
  7. Extended Family

Its begun the transformation to Courtney Love. :awesome:
  8. Keep the pachinko coming baby.
  9. Tim's Beard Speaks

CGW is always woefully behind on their coverage, they must've been absent at the signing of the "magazines get things first" pact, because their information is often erroneously old. Still the best gaming magazine though.
  10. Psychonauts PC Specs

No I have no problem with spyware (unless my scanning isn't detecting it) or one huge resource hog, its just that I have 40 processes running, ranging from the understandable "explorer.exe" to shit like "LogWatNT", "wdfmgr", etc. And I have no idea what they do and I'm pretty sure only about 10 of things on the list are needed.
  11. Psychonauts PC Specs

I suspect Alienware's sales are almost entirely powered by their shiny cases.
  12. Psychonauts PC Specs

Yeah, I kind of forgot about this whole aspect of PC gaming because mine has been behaving normally for quite a while now. But either way its so nice to play a game in a high resolution and close up as opposed to on a large, fuzzy TV screen. Its not even the PC I like so much, just the monitor. Even though this a slightly off-topic addendum: one thting that really bothers me about the PC is how many apps start in the background...dozens and dozens. I'm having hundreds of MB of my RAM used up by all sorts of shit, does anyone know of a program to manage this, r if Windows has anything built in?
  13. Psychonauts PC Specs

No the game won't be different, but I thought that 29.99 was like a tentative pre-order price just thrown up by gamestop. But if the Pc version really is just 30 clams, I don't know why anyone would buy the XBox version.
  14. Psychonauts PC Specs

All looks good on the spec side, but how well will the controls translate into PC? I wonder if doublefine is handling the PC conversion...I've already preordered it either way, but it would be nice if I didn't have to buy a controller. ....6 gig installation is pretty damn huge
  15. "Bonjour Mainstream"

Yeah I think the bad advertising was a big fault, one of my friends said it just looked like Jak\Metal Gear Rip Off, which it is. The strengths of the game are barely rooted in the gameplay. Also they should've just bit the bullet and made the main character a wild talking pig, the 'independent woman' character did nothing to establish the game as unique. EDIT: I agree the demo was piss poor.
  16. "Bonjour Mainstream"

    Yeah we're fucked.
  17. "Bonjour Mainstream"

Yeah, its pretty sad when the consumer community becomes dilute enough to drown creativity; it's an unsurprising trend that appears in all media, but it is almost always overcome by some creative individual once in a while. It would be nieve to think that game developers could even produce innovative titles faster than the the current rate though. So all in all its not so bad.
  18. Seen any good movies lately?

The Life Aquatic was great, made me go and get all of the older Wes Anderson movies to watch them again. He's probably the only newer director I know by name...besides for Uwe Boll, but for entirely different reasons. Sadly it was pulled from my theater too fast for me to see it again, so I have to bittorrent a bootleg, for now.
  19. Get your portrait with Shrek 2!

    You may borrow mine.
  20. Majesco interview

Let the good times roll. But Infected's virus gimmick is basically a high-score sharing thing, it's pretty lame.
  21. Resident Evil 4

RE4 is a good bit of fun (at least the first 8 hours), but the amazing review scores are kind of head scratching. The atmosphere and graphics are great, but besides for the swarming-enemy style gameplay, there is no innovation...sometimes it almost feels like a GunCon game. It's well balanced difficulty-wise though, and better than any other recent action game.
  22. TFT monitors

Its wierd how this cheap-product consumerist frenzy arose, people are looking to replace rather than repair, and for no good reason. They're ending up with more of a bad product rather than one 'something' that lasts, it's in everything from construction to shoes....and I don't really get it. Anyway, this bit from the article was interesting. Does anyone have any idea how it compares to other companies?
  23. Piece of Silence *early spoiler*

I'm finding myself hating alot more games than I used to, in all genres. And perhaps the adventure genre is just small enough to not let through anything exciting these days. Hoping for a break-through adventure at this point is like expecting to see grapes grow on a withered vine; all of the money and resources are invested in other genres. And while the fruit is often grotesque, it's the only place you'll ever find anything ripe. Or something like that.
  24. Resident Evil 4

Woah, your massive avatar adds a huge swath of empty space after your sentence...its like post modern posting.
  25. Take me on the last express

I've never been able to find a copy but I really want to play it...I don't think I ever saw it on suprnova either .
