It's the attempt at viral marketing that gets the backlash not gizmondo. I've never actual seen a real one but it seems normal enough (besides for all of the tacky shit they slap on to it--), the really wierd part for me is this. (Taken from Gamespot); "The Gizmondo will launch at two different price points on August 11: $229 and $399. If you choose the $229 price, you'll be asked to view at least three ads per day...When you first power up the device, you'll encounter a brief introductory screen where you'll be asked about your ad preferences, in addition to your likes and dislikes. And from then on, Tiger will try to send you targeted advertising." Pretty bizarre.

Gee wiz, I can't believe I had such a harsh outlook on Gizmondo! What a great post! I'm going to go pick one up right after work! I'm not sure if it's the cutting edge graphics, or the prospect of free baby sitting courtesy of Gizmondo that I love so much! THANK YOU GIZMONDO! They could theoretically have a sort of free-rental system, where you have one game on the revolution at a time. But Nintendo is way too greedy to do anything for free, especially when they know they could make the easiest cash of their existance with priced web distribution. Yeah, 98 was probably the best in terms of quality...Half-Life, Grim Fandango, Zelda 64, Metal Gear Solid. I'm sure there's more, maybe System Shock 2? It's been down hill since then.

I think the problems Chris pointed out can be stretched out into every aspect of the movie, including design and plot. There's no mystery, the whole thing feels like it was made to sell cereal and video games. The first movies were fantastic partly because you were just dropped into this crazy world and you gleaned all of the backstory and character history just from the plot and good acting. And about the acting, when you go into filming a star wars role you should be prepared to be typecast your whole life as the character, because that was the mark set by the old series. Really Hamill, Ford, Fisher, and even Alec Guiness were cemented for life in their roles because of how well they pulled it off, they really got it. How many of these new characters are good enough to be typecast? None. The emperor maybe but even he was better in the original trilogy. If the actors aren't even buying it how is the audience supposed to? At the same time I feel wrong blaming the actors. This movie seems to really proove that blue-screen acting may be the worst thing to happen to cinema. Obviously you don't need that to make a bad film (see: Hollywood), but these movies feel so damn empty, and George Lucas foisted it on the whole cast. And even if they recast and changed the format of production you have to face the rotten script Lucas made for the film. The whole thing is just sad, inconsequential cheese. Its a fucking children's movie.

It would be funny if you could download all of the old classics but have to play them with a bizzaro squishy controller. That would be boss.

I think it looks pretty awesome, but it's sad to know that it will be way overpriced until another even more ultimate gameboy comes along, as is Nintendo's nature.

Are these trailers for real? Everything seems mysteriously nebulous in terms of gameplay footage. Like: I think that the Killzone footage was real though (judging from the boring gameplay), so maybe the above footage was too? Oh and Xbox is getting Final Fantasy XI, you know...the one no one bought. I'm talking about a single player-60 hour long-rotten script-fantastic graphics Final Fantasy that will make every salary man in Nippon smash open his piggy bank and run down to the store.

Yeah, but we really won't have any idea what kind of graphics we're really talking about until we see something. Xbox claims to be oodles more powerful, but I would say it looks only marginally better than existing PC hardware configurations....PS3, I don't know, if that 'Motorstorm' is actually gameplay footage it may very well be 35 times more powerful. I hope that Nintendo isn't doing itself in with half-assed technology.

Yeah that Killzone bit was pretty amazing looking. And there was one thing I'd forgotten about Playstation that automatically puts above the rest: Final Fantasy. As long as you have that franchise you will probably win in sales. I'm sure just the prospect of a remade, fully 3d FF VII will get people buying the hardware.

I had a hard time beating those last few challenges/bosses because it was crashing my computer, played so smooth up until the end. I beat it a shade under 13 hours and now I feel like I must have missed alot . I have to admit there were quite a few times where I felt they should've just went into full on adventure mode, because even though the game world was fleshed out more than any platformer or action game it still felt, I don't know, less than Grim Fandango, for want of better description.

How dare you guys insult my bounty of street cred. I am a card carrying member of the Morphine Generation. In more civilized terms: I think we should hold off on our system slathering, chums, regardless of our ages, and perhaps wait until we've got the bo-jangly in our hands with some games.

I'm sure millions of twelve year olds are holding their mouths agape this instant, waiting for Microsoft to mince up to them and shit in their mouths with derivative sequels until their tiny food bags can hold no more. But the rest of us are waiting to see good games, not shiny plastic.
