Hoho! (Best) On a note slightly related to the entirely unrelated note in the post above, if you look at the ScummVM page you'll see they were working on Another World support - for a while, until they took it out. Mmm, tasty.

Sorry to be pedantic, but it was always a talkie game with a floppy version for cheapskates, the same as other adventure games of the era. Er, wasn't it? I loved the talkie version of SS1 - one of those games where the lines being spoken actually improved them - but SS2?! Who was that they had replacing Chris Barrie?! Ugh. I thought I'd spare myself Simon 3D, so I couldn't possibly comment.

That blur effect broke my eyes so I turned it straight off. I prefer the look and feel of GTA3 too. It's moodier (especially around Portland) and the cars aren't rubbish or from the 80s (apart from the ones that are). And the terrain is more fun, and Chatterbox is BEST.

Hey punk! I don't know what "USPs" means, but I'll just pretend I do and argue against you anyway. Granted it used a modified version of the Quake engine, but that was still pretty sexy back in '98. It certainly wasn't ugly. Don't you remember the animated faces of the characters, the huge tentacle-monster, the intricate machinery on show in the cavernous, erm, caverns, in the intro? The beautifully animated monsters, the turbulant (yes I can't spell) water in Team Fortress, all that mad alien stuff on Xen? It may not have been "groundbreakingly gorgeous" but it had a certain graphical awesomeness that other games of the time hadn't yet achieved. Maybe you didn't have a 3dfx card. I did. I was special.

Cavefish territory? WTF?

I agree up to a point - Vice City added helicopters and bikes and, er, that dull business-purchasing stuff, but it was essentially the same game as GTAIII. What are they going to add in San Andreas? Rocket-powered skidoos? I hope so! But you're right, it's just going to be more of the same. I hope GTA4 is going to shake up the gameplay entirely, the same way as GTA2 was completely different to GTA1. Until then, let 'em milk a successful formula.

At first I thought the bike was a Chopper and we were in for an excellent 70s adventure, but that was just me being stupid and bad. I hope for copious amounts of Bullitt subgames though. Even though that was the sixties. But late sixties, at least, the best kind. :devil2: Hmm, pretty smileys.
