Hey, that looks like an authentic Scumbag™ cap on the table to the right.
  2. I always derided nerds who bought stupid shit like Master Chief helmets and full-size stormtroopers, but now I've found myself joining the ranks of awkward forever alone nerds who line their dusty bedroom shelves with pervy hentai figurines and Darth Vader pez dispensers. I bough this from here:

PUBIC ANNOUNCEMENT Three of us (excluding Dan) are doing our thing, playing our prologues, and it's quite fun! If you're interested in playing or learning to play, please join us! It's fun and a good time. It's like a video game, only there are no graphics and you have to read what's happening and you have to write what you do instead of using a controller.
  4. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

Actually, there were two weirdly hidden artifacts, but the cavern holding one of them was indicated on the map. The other one had no indication at all, and was discovered only by trying to enter all the you-know-whats. I guarantee you, if it had been the last one you were looking for, you would experience a burning rage.
  5. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

Yeah, but the artifacts and bonus stuff aren't indicated anywhere. After killing the boss, I was missing 1 artifact and two bonus things. Since there's an achievement for finding all the artifacts, I really had to get that last one. After searching around it's quite offpissing to find it's hidden in a one-off way you really have to be extremely lucky to discover without cheating.
  6. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

Just finished this. Turns out I could go back and use the save point to heal, which made the whole thing easy. That whole dark electric section was terrible, though. Also terrible: hiding collectibles without so much as a hint as to their location, leading to the inevitable chasing around the map for the last one, and then finally turning to the web, discovering it's in a ridiculous, stupid place. Shadow Complex did this too: instead of making the collection stuff something fun they turn it into this terrible, terrible epilogue where you're really done with the game, but since you got almost all the things just by playing the game, you really want the remaining ones, but there's no hints or clues or indicators or anything. Just a huge, depressing map. Fuck that. Anyway, I give this game 3,56/5. It would've been a 4,26 if they hadn't broken the collection thing.

  8. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

More like insanely shitty shadow planet. Fuck this game right in its stupid face. Have any of you gotten to the terrible ? It's where the game suddenly gets impossible and frustrating and shows you nothing and has a thousand enemies that are almost invisible and require you to mess around with its ridiculously horrible, buggy physics that only lets you grab the god damn thing you have to pull with you everywhere half the time you try, all the while some fucking dark squid creeps in from the side and pulls it away, and the power you need to use attracts all the enemies and since you're trying to ah fuck it. What a disappointment – if you haven't bought this game yet, don't.

  10. Plug your shit

Nicely shitplugged, Peels! I didn't know you were doing this thing. What is Residual? Are you working at LucasArts black ops?

I want to get on board early and join your riffing on this new thing! Give me a sec.
  12. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

Bought this yesterday, and it's really fun. It's like a smaller, lighter version of Shadow Complex. It seems really short, though, based on how quickly I'm revealing the map, but that may of course prove a terrible metric.
  13. I completely understand this, and although I haven't really used the server much, it's been really cool to be able to visit at times and see all the men jumping around, build huge amazing things. Also, in addition to the money you've spent, I also understand you've spent a great deal of your time on maintaining the server, upgrading it and so on. Thanks for that too, as well.

How are they rasterized, then, if there are no artifacts?
  15. Iron Brigade

Base on the following two data points: It's a game made after 1998 "fans of those old adventure games will like it" ... I conclude it is an action adventure game. And by adventure I mean abstract puzzles.

OUTCAST REFERENCE DETECTED Outcast was such an awesome game! Jesus Christ.
  17. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

Sweet, another awesome game that went completely under my radar and is now available for me to play without having to wait for it for months!
  18. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Well, other than not using the word, it sounds like voxels to me. There's probably some neat technical thing they're doing that makes it technically not voxels, but I'll be calling it voxels until they come up with a cool, fresh name for it, like PowerPixels™ or trupiXL™. You know they will.
  19. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Voxels, and a lot of them. A number of things make me suspicious and doubtful that this will have an impact on games in any way: There is no animation at all, It's just a million copies of very limited set of shapes. It's very obvious, which leads me to believe this reveals some sort of crippling limitation of the technology – if not they would surely have come up with some more elephant statues for their tech demo! There's something suspicious about a company coming out of nowhere making huge promises without properly demonstrating anything. That fucking guy!

  21. Feminism

Well, what other words ending with -philia refers to raping and molestating the stem? As far as I can tell (and I feel sort of backed up by a quick Wikipedia perusal) the definition of the term really does fit with all the others, and – understandably, to be sure – the horrors of child molestation are tightly linked to it, but I think it's a shame that those who suffer from it (and what a terrible fate it must be!) gets the rapist rep compounded onto them automatically, even though there are bound to be otherwise healthy people that have "successfully" struggled with it, and the associated shame, their entire lives; not being able to talk about it with anyone, even to seek help or treatment. And of course, there is no proper help or treatment. Anyway, this should probably go in a thread called Pedophilia (certainly bound to be a popular one!) since it has no bearing on the matter of feminism.
  22. Feminism

I'm all for a society in which both (all, even) genders are given the same opportunities, the same recognition and reward for the same effort, while at the same time recognizing the actual physical differences between the genders. I'm pretty sure this is the way most of us feel (though I've been known to be spectacularly wrong about things!) My little, unimportant issue with feminism is with the word itself, and is similar to my problem with the word pedophile (wait, let me explain!) and it simply has to do with what I feel the word actually should mean, and what it actually means. To start with the latter term, it always irks me when people get all riled up over pedophiles, when I feel they should be riled up over child molesters. Philia means love, not rape. Similarly – although not very – the word feminism to me suggests something more than the the sentiments I described initially – to me it sounds like it's aiming for something too far in the other direction. As I said, these are some minor, unimportant issues I have with the term itself. I think measures that "force" the norm (affirmative action, I believe it's called?) are justifiable, but only to balance the scales faster, so to speak. I'm going to post this, even though I think it's a bit lame, looking back.

That music... it had an English sound to it, but I was unable to decipher it. Sort of like this: Ov_UksYViOc
