I will also upgrade after 4,5 years of using my current machine. I had plans never to update again, or more likely to buy a laptop, but well... plans change. My friend bought a quad core so I'm getting his old Core2Duo 8500. That means I have to also buy a new motherboard and I'm going for ASUS P5N-D because I have a SLI setup that I'm working on. (Although I think my older graphics card might be dying, I have had problems with shit flying in the screen during Dead Space and I got blue screen of death while trying to watch a HD trailer from Apple webpage two days ago.) Old setup: ASUS N7V-SLI Deluxe AMD64 +3500 Socket 939 2GB DDR 400Mhz GeForce 8600GT 2x1GB SLI'd One old harddrive New setup: ASUS P5N-D Intel Core2Duo E8500 2GB DDR2 800mhz GeForce 8600GT 2x1GB SLI'd One old harddrive Going to cost me only about 200 euros and that's fine by me, I'm not aiming to spend a lot of money anyway. This rig will let me experience Batman and couple of other games during my holidays in February. Nice nice nice.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet's movies are quite awesome. I've seen all his five long movies and two of the short movies. I own all long movies on dvd except Alien 4 which was a brave attempt at a different kind of Alien movie, too bad it was butchered by bad production and a Joss Whedon script that was changed too much from what it was when Joss wrote the text. (No wonder he will never go back to Hollywood after that "experience.") I've seen Foutaises and Le bunker de la dernière rafale from his old short movies and pretty much all of Foutaises is clearly used in Amelie 12 years later. The latest movie Micmacs à tire-larigot is apparently coming to Finland in March so I'll propably see it then. I didn't really know that there is a new movie coming, this great news!

What is the best way to get older Windows games to work on 64-bit Win7 setup? Dualboot with XP? Not to use 64-bit and go back to 32-bit Win7? I still need to install stuff like BG&E and Dreamfall and all sorts of older stuff in the future so something I need to figure out here. What is the the best and least painful solution. I know BG&E is in Steam, but in order to get that I would have to sell the boxed copy away and I'm too lazy for that.

Was the original 320x240? I don't remember anymore. One more game that I should dig up from the closet and play again...
-
Is it so that with 64-bit Windows 7 the old 16-bit installer games don't install correctly? I tried yesterday to install BG&E from the three retails cd's that I have and at the end of the install it did nothing, I couldn't find the installed files anywhere...

Why do I remember that there was a high resolution version of Outcast released back in the day? I think I have both the CD and the DVD version of Outcast somewhere in my archives, aka closet.

I wish I had only played the first third of that game and not the whole thing like I did...

Some months ago we bought some crappy Cabela shooter game, which was a big mistake. My wife likes Resident Evil and rail shooters so we've been thinking about buying one of the Resident Evil shooter games at some point. Which one of those two is actually better?

Well that's a shame. Kind of waste of 2,50 euros then, but what the hell it was only 2,50 euros.

I bought Half-Life: Source for 2,49€ yesterday. Never really tried the Source version so I guess now would be the time.
-
I then went it in and got the Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. I played the original back in the day, but this is with the new chapter so I'm thinking it will be fun to go back to this game again. Price was 6,97€ Also got Osmos and SW: Kotor for total price of 6,28€. I got myself some games for the january marathon, heheh. Both Max Payne games would be instantly bought, but I have both games already as boxed games so I don't need to buy those again.

Yeah, they look kind of hippo. There's quite many characters in the Moomin universe in addition to just them and "the scary little girl". As toblix said the characters were created a looooooooooong time ago by a finnish woman called Tove Jansson, not a guy. She died a long time ago, but the characters keep on being famous. The Moomin are really frigging big here and famous for the generation that is same age as me in many countries like Finland and Japan. My wife is a big fan and she is from Japan. Yes the two animated shows that they did were made by Japanese, just shows a bit how big it was there. I've only seen one of them as the other one was only screened in Japanese tv and the other one partly financed by Finnish people.

I could've bought Prey when I woke up yesterday, but didn't. It was quite a surprise to see it sold out, but I guess for about 2 euros everything goes. It was a fun ride when I played it around the time it came out, but the game was really mediocre after the quite good beginning. The jukebox and everything was really nice and got me in the right mood.

That sure was a good deal. They never even sold RB2 instruments in Europe at all I think and in Finland The Beatles are only sold as a band pack and limited edition pack for all consoles and both are selling for 100-200 euros. I had to buy my RB2 guitar for Wii from eBay and to top it all I even had to pay the damn taxes because the price+shipping was over the limit.

I bought Braid about 1,5 to 2 weeks ago. So before they went and put it on sale in Steam for 2,5 euros. I've tested it a bit and I am nowhere near to completing it. I will take a total gaming weekend in January and will plan to dig in to this more then.

I think I remember that scene as well, but as the movie is supposed be in 2154 (I think that was the year?) that by that time they could've developed 3d photographs like that.

Saw Avatar yesterday in glorious 3D. It was quite, quite jawdropping. Amazing technology developed, I bet in the future many movies will have 3D made this way. Now 3D has truly arrived to my little town. Me and my friends agreed that Quaritch is the old school Man. I have a problem with the 3D glasses, I experienced the same in Japan when I saw in the Disney parks the Terminator 2 3D and the Honey I shrunk the kids 3D shows. My nose hurts because the glasses feel kind of heavy and not totally user friendly because of that. These are the brand new glasses we have now at the Cinema: http://www.xpandcinema.com/

Going on a bit of a horror movie streak lately because my wife is fan of the genre. I've been watching this year a lot of different types of horror movies, both Japanese and American ones, there was also one Finnish one in the mix. For this week / next week we have plans to see the whole set of movies about Child's Play, the old Chucky movies. I've never seen any of the original three. I'm very excited as I learned that Brad Dourif is at least in the first movie.

Well... ten years is a long time... and I did have to check this: Max Payne release date: PC - July 25, 2001 Max Payne 2 release date: PC - October 15, 2003 I remember the day I bought Max Payne. It was the release date and I had just finished my high school and I didn't even have a good enough computer yet to play the game. I actually played it in autumn 2002 when I got a new computer and I could've got the game a lot cheaper then if I had just waited, but I decided to support the developers. Ohh crap. I've had a plan to replay Mafia for years and years now. I only once completed it around the time it came out. Now when free time is very limited these days I kind of doubt I will have the chance.

If I'd have to chooce a game of the decade just based on how many times I've played through them, then my choice would pretty much be Max Payne or Max Payne 2. Played both about 5 times through. Both are superb games by the way, and not just because these are from Finland.

Downloaded the demo yesterday, have to try it in the near future as I don't have time yet.

I have a really horrible memory. I don't remember in which thumbcasts the guys talked about it. Mark Hamill has always been awesome voice actor. I haven't played the whole game of Arkham Asylum so I don't know if there's difference between the animated stuff and this. I hope they get Kevin Conroy to voice Batman again because with Hamill he forms one of the best "dynamic duos" in the voice acting industry.
-
Where did you hear that? I've always thought that he is proud of being the voice of Joker? EA is really milking it with the return of Medal of Honor. The trailer makes it look like it's Modern Warfare 3.

For me PoP, especially PoP 2 and PoP:SoT where the greatest of this series. I have never played the latest one, because I lost my interest because of Warrior Within and Two Thrones.
