  1. Dead Space

Yes, the horror, more action news tidbit had big negative impact on me as well. If they lose the horror and make it action the game will be more like everything else and nothing special. But of course not much is known of the project so we just have to wait and see.
  2. It's back! Instantly downloaded and now I'm off to work to listen to the Podcast.
  3. Lucidity

What did they promise to fix? I was never interested in Lucidity so I passed the cheap offers.
  4. OMG NEW SHOW?!

Idle Thumbs ??: What is game? I saw this appear in my iGoogle.
  5. Far Cry 2

I first posted this on Nachimir's other thread, but I guess this is the main one. I've been playing Far Cry 2 for about 2,5 hours so far. The progress shows that I'm now 12% done and the game has not really convinced me to really start playing it. It feels like a very normal, not that special shooter in many ways. I'm thinking that mostly it's because my computer is 4½ years old. I have to play with everything set to low and everything just looks very ugly. Tomorrow I'm upgrading the motherboard, getting a good Core2Duo processor and 2GB memory that is propably more than 2x faster than what I had before plus I will get to finally use my SLI setup with the GF 8600 GT graphics cards and combined 2GB memory with those. After that I will give Far Cry 2 a new try and lets see then how things will look like.
  6. Google Streetview UK launches

Sooooo... Google Earth arrived to Finland also finally at the beginning of this week. It's weird, I can see my rusty car in various places around the town. I knew this would be coming as I saw the Google car driving around in August 2009 in Vaasa. They even went to the yard of my family house basically, I can see the backyard of my brother, haha. Pretty much everything has been mapped that is south of Oulu. Even the small 200 people towns are in Street View.
  7. Sequels, Sequels, Sequels

Agreed. Also Activision is of course doing the same crap decisions with sequels and so on. http://shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=62315
  8. Dead Space

I think the main reason they are not really highly thinking of a PC version is the piracy case. Apparently sales of the PC version were not that great. Oh and they are saying that Dead Space: Extraction will be ported to Xbox and Playstation for 15 $/£/€. I wonder how that will work with the normal gamepads?
  9. Sonic 4

Yes, Sonic 4 is the previously known Project Needlemouse.
  10. Extremely Vincible Tiger...

Ahh, Rag Doll Kung Fu. My first game bought from Steam. Not that good game, I can easily believe how the PS3 version can be better if the controls were changed a bit.
  11. Sonic 4

Yeah, he is the Sega of Europe's head of content I guess. I had some really nice feelings about the teaser trailer as it did have that oh so good classic "SEEEEEEGAAAAAA" logo and voice in the beginning.
  12. Dead Space

Didn't play the demo. I heard yesterday from Shack that DS2 isn't apparently coming to PC at all? Well looks like I'll never get to play it then, but it's not a big loss as so far what I've heard about the project has not made me much interested in it anyway.
  13. Recently completed video games

Just finished Dead Space finally this morning. Had some hardware problems in the beginning when I started to play this back in December. Play time was around 12 hours which I guess was quite normal. Played it on the medium difficulty and apparently it is even more survival horror on the harder difficulties. I had no problems getting ammo and medikits with medium difficulty, almost felt like they had put too much helpful items everywhere. The story had suspense and I really liked the whole atmosphere in the game. I think this would've been even more disturbing to play during the night, which I didn't do... As said in the Dead Space thread, I want to buy the Dead Space: Extraction game next. I actually watched yesterday Dead Space: Downfall so it's a real DS crazy momentum going on now. Dead Space 2 doesn't sound that interesting, I get the feeling this game works as it's own already enough well. I have the same feeling about Bioshock 2 as I have about Dead Space 2, even though Hot Scoops Gaynor is working on Bioshock...
  14. Mass Effect 2

Weeeeeeell here's a basic question. How long do you think Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are in average if I would go just by the main quest? I haven't played either of these, but just in case if I will in the future it would be fun to know about the size of these games.
  15. Dead Space

Played until the 11th chapter now. I can feel that I'm close to the end now. I'll finish the game tomorrow. It's been a good experience so far, I'm happy that I sacrificed time to play Dead Space. Next I need to put on my list the Wii Dead Space.
  16. Movie/TV recommendations

It was great! Viggo and the kid were really good in the roles. No wonder that there was even talk of Oscar nominations, which in the end didn't actually happen for Viggo.
  17. Books, books, books...

I remember watching The Running Man as a teenager and enjoying it...
  18. Bad Games

I bought and played Fahrenheit around the time it was released so I paid the full price, but I wish that I would've never done that. The damn demo sold me the game. The demo was actually really good, but almost everything after the demo scenes was really, really bad. When I sold it away I got like 5 euros for it as the price went down the drain really quickly.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

Has anyone watched The Road yet? I'm going for that tonight. I haven't read the book and I've heard the book is better, like they usually are, but the movie is apparently also pretty good.
  20. Fucking PC gaming!

So I guess this one goes in here. I just tried to install my Limited Edition of Dreamfall to my Windows 7 64-bit. I didn't know that the European release had the annoying Starforce protection system. It brought down my whole Windows and after reboot Windows started some repair program and I thought now the whole installation is damaged. Windows 7 doesn't like drivers like Starforce apparently. Is there anyway to get this to work and get around the god damn Starforce? I think I need to go to Funcom's message board to check if there's some way to play this game. Not really interested in buying it from Steam because it's 20 euros there and I'd like to play my legally owned dvd of the game damnit... EDIT: Apparently some patch might work with this or a no cd fix. Lets see...
  21. General Video Game Deals Thread

Freedom Force and Third Reich add on for only 2 dollars/pounds/euros All the damn X-Com/UFO games for the same price! I had already the X-Com games so instantly bought the Freedom Force pack, backlog increases once again.
  22. General Video Game Deals Thread

I didn't have any problems with Meat Circus either and I usually have a lot of problems with platforming games. Had to buy this yesterday, I have the CD's and the retail box on the shelf, but for 2 euros it was a must buy.
  23. Recently completed video games

Broken Sword: Director's cut, the DS version. Don't know why I never completed the original on PC, I played 5-7 years ago about half of the game, got stuck and I guess I just forgot about it then.
  24. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

"hold on Marek!" The voice acting in that video sounds almost as horrible as the Finnish dubbing in animated shows.
  25. Movie/TV recommendations

I watched the whole show some years ago when they ran the all the episodes in Finnish tv. It was pretty good, I've always been a fan of Ted Danson.
