Is it still in theaters somewhere? Was it a special Christmas screening or something like that? After all that is from 1988. We went to see Narnia 3 yesterday at the theaters. I really hate those Xpand 3D glasses. Makes my nose seriously hurt and it's gives red marks for the rest of the evening. I've written about this before, but I really hope that if this 3D is here to stay (I hope not) then they create a way to look at movies without the glasses like Nintendo with 3DS and Toshiba with their tv's. Also the movie was pretty bad. It's like a poor man's Lord of the Rings, even though Narnia book series is slightly older than LotR. The first Narnia movie was actually pretty ok and I remember that the second one was watchable a few years ago, but this third one was just waste of time. I get why Disney wanted them to lower the budget.
  3. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Haha! Somebody sent me this last week at work and this one is great!

Merry Christmas Thumbs! Got from my wife the last book (Three caballeros) missing from my Don Rosa Disney collection and some other cool things a heavy metal book that teaches english/japanese with metal to metal fans. Also got a special edition Mario magazine from Japan that had three Mario songs on a CD played by a huge orchestra. Amazing music! Also Mario All Stars special magazine and a Super Mario Bros dot character buildbox. Hard to describe what it is, but it's awesome! Already made Luigi and the fish enemy from Mario which name I don't remember. Now I have to kick my lazy ass to really learn the fine Japanese language, otherwise I will not understand these magazines.

Watched Scrooged again like I do every Christmas. Now that is one weird movie that just doesn't get old. Solid directing from Richard "Superman" Donner. Bill Murray is a guy that some people just don't like, but for me he is one of the funniest guys around and in this movie he is real bastard. Like all corporate executives of the world. I wonder if anyone actually started to sing during the end credits when this was in movie theaters, I doubt it...
  6. Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Downloaded the demo of Steam. Will play it at some point maybe in a few years or something... I really have to do something about the Steam backlog, thankfully they haven't had any sweet deals this Christmas for me to buy more in Steam. (Except for "The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom" for 39 cents. That was insane.)
  7. Stacking

Was watching the Gametrailers videos and I am watching the GiantBomb video right now, but these will be the last. Really going to have to drop this off my radar completely, starts to piss me off way too much that Schafer ain't making them PC games no more...
  8. Back to the Future

I guess Telltale is getting ready to release bttf:episode 1 as the main site is closed down right now for "maintenance."
  9. GOTY.cx 2010

Yes, well I'm just mentioning some theoretical games that would've most likely ended up on my GOTY list as I don't play that many games, even though I have ended up buying quite many recently...
  10. Happy Birthday!

Happy belated birthday Miffy and Patters!
  11. GOTY.cx 2010

Deathspank is the GOTY for me this year. Just a really solid and fun game to play and it's great to see that Ron Gilbert is back. You clearly see his influence in the making of this game, the dialogue is gold. I haven't played the second part yet so this is only regarding the first one. Runner up came actually in 2009, but I got to play it this year in autumn and winter time. Maybe the best modern co-op game ever made. That is of course New Super Mario Bros Wii. EDIT: the rest of this post are just theoretic rambling about games that I HAVE NOT ACTUALLY PLAYED YET. I am pretty sure that if I actually would have time to play Super Meat Boy this year, it would become a strong GOTY possibility. Cave Story Wiiware version would've been another also. Sidenote: if if if Limbo would've been released as a PC game like it originally was supposed to(?) then that would've very highly likely been one contender for my GOTY as well.

Where's the Idle thumb in that picture? Great gingerbread cookies, that gives me ideas that now I need to start to be a copycat of Hermie and be a little more clever this year with my cookies than just using regular ones like every year.
  13. Not that I really want to jump into the Assange discussion as I haven't followed up the whole story really closely, but wasn't it proven already through Google cache that the girls had written to Twitter a lot of positive comments about Assange *after* the alledged rapes had happened? Then they deleted the messages afterwards when the prosecutor had opened the case for them? But yeah, Wikileaks is more than just on guy. Even if it seems that Assange is being made/raising himself as the the only guy behind it. And of course there might be some truth to the case that he did do something in Sweden, but as has been written why would the ladies arrange a celebration for him after the incidents if he had done what he is accused of doing? If he is guilty, then he should be sentenced, but if he is not then he should not be. It does look a lot like smear campaign, but it feels weird that for example Visa, Mastercard, Bank of America and Paypal freezed Wikileaks accounts just because Assange is accused of something. Shouldn't he be on trial as a private person and not as a representative of Wikileaks? This thread has moved in to a interesting direction from TED talks.

Daft Punk's soundtrack for Tron: Legacy however was awesome in my honest opinion. Listening to it this very moment while punching in my daily work.

Anvil - the story of Anvil is pretty great, but it's just a story about a band. Same with Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage, whic I have not yet actually seen myself. Metal A headbanger's journey is really awesome, but the second movie Global Metal that Sam Dunn made with Scott McFadyen is not that good. I saw Tron last weekend for the first time and it was a really weird movie with quite unique effects for it's time, should've propably seen it when I was younger to appreciate it more. we watched the Legacy movie on sunday and the second was pretty ok, but nothing like the first one. The worst part about the second one for me was the really badly done cgi Jeff Bridges. Though Kingz did put it quite well in his rant. True, he never does age. But he also never gets any proper job offers. (except for the awesome Hercules series and Andromeda)
  16. General Video Game Deals Thread

Nice, I haven't even had time to play SMB yet and now they put it out for *free* (3,50 is basically free)

Oh yeah, forgot to add that I saw the London office building for Sega while driving the bus ride to Stonehenge. That seemed like a nice almost futuristic building with the Sega logo on one side of it and Sonic image on the other side of it. Is that then where Marek works at?
  18. General Video Game Deals Thread

So I caved in and bought from GoG Another World 15th Anniversary edition for $4.99. Now I got all the sweet extras and I own the game twice. I seem to be buying a lot of games twice these days...
  19. Mario World and All Stars bundle was only for US as far as I know. Damn you Americans. You always get the sweet stuff.
  20. Video Games, and why I might be done with them

Sorry to hear that Snooglebum. I hope there is some workaround that lets you enjoy games again. Well, if you like only fast paced gaming, then that really cuts off all the adventure games for you.
  21. It's in youtube in seven parts. Here's the first one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egcTynu6sBk

Sorry to hear about your loss Thompson, my family also had to put our old dog to sleep three years ago. She was 15 years old and just couldn't walk normally anymore. We do miss her a lot still. I for one would welcome a move to Canada. Something like Vancouver sounds nice, I've only visited the eastern side of Canada earlier this year and everything there was awesome. My wife was in Vancouver about 10 years ago and she tells me it's a pretty sweet city. Tough luck on getting a job though, for example Finnish and Japanese people get six months tourist visa and then we would have to go back. That's not a lot of time to get to know people and places. England was pretty nice, though I have no idea why there was like 500 police officers around the parliament building/Big Ben on tuesday. Is it because of the student riots still? Stonehenge was as amazing as I had imagined it to be. Basically it's just a arrangement of huge stones, but when you see it right next to you in a clear nice weather, it just feels unreal. I have no idea how those stones could've been transported from the supposed location mountains from Wales to that area where the stones are now. Weather was nice +6 degrees celsius all the time, but very annoying that I caught cold on tuesday and now I have the flu and I need to work even if I'm sick. It's the end of the year crunch mode after all... it felt really like home when London was +6 degrees, then at Tampere in Finland the weather was -23 degrees celcius. Thankfully in Vaasa it was only -4 in the evening.
  24. Not played it, but it kind of jumped in my radar when I heard some years ago that Steve Ince (Broken Sword, Beneath a Steel Sky) was writing the script, but apparently even the dialogue is bad. I knew the plot was bad just by hearing the early storyline stuff about a Britney Spears style teenager blonde stuck on some island. Not interesting start for a story at all.
  25. World of Poo

It would be cool if I could unlock the game in Steam somehow. I bought it directly from the developers and also as Wiiware. Did not buy the Humble Bundle as I already had all the most interesting ones bought earlier. One of the best indie games around. I need to invest some time soon to Fluidity, which I hope to be as good as World of Goo.
