  1. Capsized

This reminds me so much of Exile on Amiga. I've been following this project for the past few months and I will get it at some point. I wanted to test the demo first, but at least on friday it was giving some weird error that I own the game already and that's why demo can't be downloaded even though I don't own the game. Also I downloaded the release trailer from Steam and the size was 600 megabytes, what the hell?
  2. Movie/TV recommendations

We saw Scream 4 some days ago. It was quite a bad movie. The time for such horror movies has passed I think.
  3. Life

Here in Finland every possible media outlet is streaming that whole extravaganza live. Propably all the elderly people are watching it right now while the rest of us are working and not giving a damn about the whole thing.
  4. Other podcasts

I stumbled upon the Played podcast awhile ago after a long time and noticed that they did record one "new" podcast sometime last year before Metroid Other M came out. I guess now with Elizabeth Tobey moving to California last year and Chris being in east coast the podcast is pretty much done with. I noticed recently that www.dukenukemforever.com has some new podcasts with Elizabeth Tobey talking with Allen Blum and other fellows from Triptych/Piranha/Gearbox/2k Games. Some pretty interesting stuff there about the everlasting project.
  5. The great Valve re-play

One of my friends values System Shock the most and still says that no other fps game since that has been as influencial and had as good story as that had. I can't really say anything about it as I have never played System Shock more than 15 minutes, it's really difficult to get running on modern computers and I hope that someday GoG will release both System Shocks Win7 compatible.
  6. Back to the Future

At least I read some news posts that it would be released this week. I wouldn't mind if it came next week or even later as I'm really busy right now and don't really have time to play it.
  7. Back to the Future

Double Visions, Ep 4 is coming out this week. I was almost expecting it to come today as the previous ones came also on Wednesday if I remember correctly?
  8. Nintendo 3DS

I keep wishing that the regional locking for 3DS game carts is some software thing only that Nintendo will unlock soon with some firmware update. I don't recall asking from you guys who already own a 3DS, but isn't it so that DS games are still region free even on 3DS? Like I have bought Phantom Hourglass from Canada and if I were to buy a 3DS from Europe, I could still play the game?
  9. Telltale Jurassic Park

    Wee! http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/26/jurassic-park-delayed-to-fall-on-pc-pre-orderers-get-free-game/ Also http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/04/27/dinosore-telltales-jurassic-park-delayed/
  10. The great Valve re-play

I linked the steampowered thread in my previous message, there is the link that downloads the high res pack, for me it downloaded it and installed it, but I don't know where and how as I only have the Source version and there the models look really low res still. Randy Pitchford and Gearbox made the high res models for Blue Shift and Valve enabled those for the normal HL also. Shame that Opposing Forces don't have high res pack, but it's still a sweet game. I like that actually more than HL1. I should've bought the original HL when they had sales, $9.99 as regular price is just too high for just HL1.
  11. Life

I have to say, for a regular pen pusher like I am, it was really fun to work during the easter weekend on fixing our bikes. The summer is coming so I fixed our bikes and changed the tires and checked brakes and did some paintjobs etc. Some good honest manual labour and things are looking pretty good right now.
  12. Nintendo 3DS

We doublechecked yesterday and you are right. 25 games released so far, so I was a bit over estimating the over 40 games bit. Still more than western countries. They were supposed to have around 40 games out now, but some have been postponed because of the recent tragic events. I was looking at the charts and seems that the only higher interest games coming out are Dead or Alive Dimensions at the end of May worldwide in every area and Steel Diver in EUR/Japan. Even Japan isn't getting that many games during next month, only 6 games coming out. Steel Diver, DoA and couple of Japan only games.
  13. Nintendo 3DS

Well I haven't been there to see it myself, but that's why my dear wife told me when she was reading the news from Japan. I know there have been a lot of delays and even cancellations as an after effect to the tsunami, but still they seem to be getting more releases than the rest of the world.
  14. Nintendo 3DS

Has there been any new game releases in US and Europe for 3DS? I know there are no new great games released since launch, but has there been even any shovelware? As I heard last week that there is already around 40 games in Japan, and like always Japan gets the most games for these platforms in total, but it's interesting to notice that there seems to be almost no releases before June in the western countries.
  15. Portal 2

Gah, I'm missing like 13 achievements in Portal 2 in the single player mode, but that's ok. I've never really cared for achievements anyway, but if I someday do, then at least I got something to go for. I didn't get any special achievements in Portal 1, just got the basic stuff.
  16. The great Valve re-play

Yeah, there was even a schematic for this somewhere in HL2. Where they showed changing of a human being to a Combine soldier.
  17. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Yeah, around here the radio channels also burn through their playlist every day. The same stuff every day, so it gets boring during day 2 already.
  18. The great Valve re-play

There was some high res texture pack for HL1 in the Steam forums, it was supposed to be an official, but optional thing. I've always wondered if it is for the original or for the lazy Source version. I have only the Source version. I have currently everything installed from Valve except Blue Shift and TF2.
  19. Recently completed video games

Yes true, but due to the utterly stupid videos they've released recently, I have been losing faith in DNF and Gearbox. I think it will be a fine game, but Portal 2 is just mad perfection. Late EDIT: I was listening to the DNF Podcasts from the official websites and Allen Blum and co. have given back confidence to trust in DNF being good.
  20. What is the Mystery of Scoggins?

Awesome. I'm still in the middle of the first game and it is my favourite already of all the games Telltale has made. It also feels the most original somehow, even though the base is clearly Professor Layton games. The voice acting is top notch in the game. Thumbs up to the persons responsible for hiring the voice talents.
  21. Portal 2

The thing is, made me also first think of Chris Remo/Idle Thumbs and the game he will make at Irrational in a few years. But it was cool and insane and still made total sense. Slightly annoyed that I missed a few really cool achievements just because I didn't push hard enough. so I thought that is just a background art and not an actual interactive section. Also the , I was there checking out the place and didn't really think with my brain that Did you guys have any problems sometimes starting to think only with the new ways of completing the puzzles, sometimes I forgot that I can just actually use the portals and not always rely on the other stuff?
  22. Recently completed video games

Portal 2. GotY.cx for me. Lots of games coming this year still, but I'm calling it in. We're done here.
  23. Portal 2

GotY.cx for me. I loved every bit of this game. The environment was so amazing, every part of the game felt really different. They made all the parts really unique and it worked! The dialogue was the best I've seen in awhile in games, I loved the expanding of the Aperture Science backstory. JK Simmons was more than perfect in delivering his lines, as Thompson said, this was also my favourite bit. Stephen Merchant was great, it's really insane how much dialogue he and all the other voice actors had in the game, there's no way that I got to experience all in my first playthrough. I was laughing my ass of all the way from the beginning to the very end, such a thrill ride. I really happy that I had tuesday to thursday off so I could really dedicate some time for this game and I did finish it off on thursday. There's also quite a bit of easter eggs and achievements that I did not get... so there is still things to experience in the game when I play it again. My gametime clocked to Steam was 8 hours, but I'm pretty sure the actual time is closer to 10 hours. Co-op I have not played and lets see if I ever will. The loading screens were a bit weird, that's my only negative comment about the game. I can bet $60 of hobomoney that was because of the console versions. Alright, we're done here.
  24. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

  25. Good Old GOG

I love Star Control! I am weird but I have never played Star Control 2. I have tested Ur-Quan Masters for maybe 15 minutes or so some years ago. This one like the AitD trilogy is a must buy! There's also a retrospective of AitD there now that I did not see earlier. I wonder what the other "Atari" releases will be? The hints were given earlier. I really wish that hero question is about Little Big Adventure 1&2. I will die of happiness if those two are part of the games released soon by GoG.
