  1. Phoenix Wright sticks back!

Resurrected! (Because I liked this thread title the most) Takashi Miike is surprisingly directing a live action Phoenix Wright movie. http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20110526-00000345-oric-movi.view-000 http://www.siliconera.com/2011/05/26/take-that-phoenix-wright-ace-attorney-the-movie-is-headed-to-the-big-screen/
  2. Books, books, books...

Yo peeps, have you ever heard of this kind of website: http://www.betterworldbooks.com/ A co-worker of mine actually gave me that link a long time ago, but I forgot it. She actually ordered some books from there so it seems to be reliable and so on. They seem to be offering free shipping worldwide and be some kind of good doing company by donating money to poor countries and poor children in general to help them learn read and write. At some point I will order something from there to test, but I got myself a pile of books to go through for the next 30 years so that's going to take some time.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

Now that's not good to hear, I was really hoping that this would be better than the third movie was and that movie was really horrible. The second was at least kind of ok and Monkey Islandy with the voodoo lady etc. First one is still a solid great adventure movie, the only one worth owning on dvd/bluray.
  4. Starbreeze's Syndicate

Gah, well I had my suspicions that because Starbreeze is the rumoured developer, that this project would end up being also some FPS thingy like X-Com. Starbreeze is a great developer, I rate very highly the Riddick game(s) and would've played Darkness if it was on PC. Syndicate needs to be all about randomnly named or nameless cannon fodder type guys that you can upgrade and send on missions. Not just one guy. X-Com and this rumoured leaked Syndicate makes me just sad.
  5. General Video Game Deals Thread

I have played Far Cry 2, but that project has been on hiatus for 1,5 years now.
  6. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I join you in that worship. He also made Silk & Stalkings, Renegade and Quantum Leap themes. cA-u32Ck9uY -F_Tk3Ep8oU 9VCfBPoVTnY Oh dear, I want my childhood/youth back, holy crap these were awesome shows.
  7. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

Yeah it would, but I have to keep myself in control. No time for that when I have the mountains of PC, Wii, DS, PSP and older stuff still to play... Old me would've propably already bought that and kept growing the pile of backlog.
  8. Movie/TV recommendations

We watched Clue from 1985. Tim Curry steals the show as the butler. I had no idea that this movie about the boardgame Cluedo (as it's called around here) even existed. Also Christopher Lloyd as Professor Plum is one of the characters in this movie, but compared to Tim Curry's awesome delivery, Lloyd is relegated into a supporting role here. I really liked the
  9. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

Gah, still the XBLA keeps tempting me. Why oh why must all the great Saturn and Dreamcast games appear there! 360 itself has no interesting games for me, but they keep striking gold with these XBLA releases.
  10. Happy Birthday!

    Happy Birthday Thunder!
  11. Duke Nukem Forever Canned [and then not]

I have a boxed version of Duke3D at home, but it's the regular version. The GoG version was the Atomic pack with the 4th episode, which I have never actually played. I tried out eDuke32 and the highres pack, the HRP texture packs and ugly new 3d objects looks like crap so that's going to the trashbin very quickly. It is and looks like a crappy fan made enhancement pack. eDuke32 however is nice, it's cool to be able to get high resolutions out of the game, like 1920x1200 on my rig. I do appreciate the original game a lot, I also like playing Doom with totally original settings without any modifications, but it's fun to test out with "modern" controls. Also original Duke3D seems weird as the controls can't be changed and it's arrow keys for movement, home and end key for looking up and down, A to jump, Z to crouch, space to interact. Really messy controls. Duke Nukem 2 is awesome, that intro brings so many good memories from my youth. The "I'm back" audio was spoken by 3D Realms employee back in the day, they talked about that in one the podcasts. The real way to do this would be actually to play Duke 1 and 2 and then Duke3D in order to get ready for DNF. Gah, why don't Bobby Prince and Lee Jackson still do music for games, especially big games. I miss those sweet tunes.
  12. Duke Nukem Forever Canned [and then not]

So I went and bought the Duke3D Atomic Edition from GoG in honour of DNF gone gold. I wonder what is the best way to get some high res action out of this without getting the ugly fan made 3d models? Proper mouse control would be sweet also. I was reading about the high res pack and eDuke and JFDuke. The last time I played Duke3D completely through was propably 12 years ago so I think it's about time to go play that again.
  13. Questions about PSP and PS2

I need to create a strategy to actually start playing these games. I'm going nuts and I'm back to my old ways apparently as I've already bought eight(!) games in few weeks. Also I have managed to not play most of them more than a few hours so far. GoW:Ghost of Sparta (came with the system) Little Big Planet (came with the system) Patapon LocoRoco Wipeout Pulse Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Half Minute Hero Lumines II (arrived today, whee!) The most expensive game I've bought was MGS for 11 euros. I'm really liking the price range of PSP at the moment even though without the internet I could not be able to buy almost any games as no shop has PSP anymore. I have so far noticed that I still suck with rhythm games like Patapon. The chants are insane and really do stuck in my head after just a short moment of playing. I have also noticed that I don't like GoW. The game reminds me too much of Prince of Persia 5, aka Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. Too much manly rage and bloody blood blood and not much else. The game feels very smooth to control so that is a plus. LBP is awesome, just pure awesome. LocoRoco is happiness. MGS has too long cutscenes, but I knew that as I did play MGS1 on PC ages ago. Also the controls suck, I have to try to change those so maybe it will become easier. For the rest I can't really say yet, as I haven't played enough to give comments.
  14. Life

Thanks Hermie, these suggestions will surely help!
  15. Life

So... 12 days to our second Norway trip. This time to Oslo, if the Icelandic volcano will let us fly. Any ideas what would be best to see there in two days?
  16. LittleBigPlanet 2

I'm just hoping Frederick Raynal would get a publisher and a new game done. Also I hope that LBA1&2 would get re-released in GoG etc.
  17. Duke Nukem Forever Canned [and then not]

DDHRJfl5ZOc Demo comes out for First Access people on 3rd June, so I'll have to play it on 5th when we come back from Oslo.
  18. The great Valve re-play

Miffy's writings are starting make me want to do the same kind of run with the Valve games, though I would skip Blue Shift as that's the only of the bunch that I don't have in Steam. I did start HL1:Source some time ago, but that has been just waiting for a long time now.
  19. PSN Hack

Well, that's not a hack. It's just an existing flaw in the system they re-built.
  20. Portal 2

Final Hours of Portal 2 now available in Steam! For just 2 euros. Instabought!
  21. Minerva's Den, coming to GfWL and Steam near you on 31st May. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/05/17/bioshock-2-minervas-den-graces-pc-at-last/ Also hot scoops on the making of Minerva's Den! http://www.2kgames.com/blog/behind-the-scenes-of-bioshock-2-part-one-the-history-of-minerva-s-den
  22. L.A. Noire

Many cases at the moment seem to mean with DLC, a feature that was supposed to be in the actual game, but was cut out in order to cash in as DLC. Oh well, that's a business decision, although a quite lazy one. The worst cases are when DLC is announced even before a game is released. Then we have the hats, but I'm not touching that subject. People can buy all that useless stuff if they want to and also choose to not buy if they don't want to. This is all just useless internet raging...
  23. PSN Hack

Eh, so I made my first PSN login now. I don't get the welcome back stuff, but I don't care anyway, the only thing interesting there was LBP PSP and I got that one. What I did notice is that PSP is pretty much useless in PSN if the store is not open and that is supposed to open next weekend I guess. Also I made the login for Finland as in European region and no extra stuff seems to be even open for Europe or more specifically Finland? I doubt I'd even use Qriocity, but that's not working here. Do I presume correctly that if I make a second login for example to USA, I have to use different sign in ID (different email) and a different PSN account name?
  24. L.A. Noire

So what's this talk I hear about DLC before the game is even released? Granted it seems that this is only "a free DLC" for first day perch people. I tell you, the worst disease in gaming in this generation has been DLC and I hope it dies quickly and as painfully as possible. I'd like to play this on my PC someday, but as with RDR and Alan Wake, these games just are not for PC gamers and I got enough games coming this year anyway in addition to all the old unplayed games.
  25. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

There isn't anything comical with this, but these videos of Alex Roman are amazing. All done with computer graphics and by one guy. The Third & The Seventh: AQ-3aRhvFwU Above Everything Else: iWE18YjLA8U
