  1. Good Old GOG

Gahhh, I always make that same mistake. You are not first to correct me on that word! I doubt I will ll ever learn my lesson, the wrong way seems to come from my subconscious.
  2. Good Old GOG

Dungeon Keeper 2 and Wing Commander 1+2 are here to stay. http://www.gog.com/en/news/the_great_ea_classics_are_back Six more coming in the pipeline. Propably still no System Shock, but seems like Wing Commander 3, 4 and maybe Prophecy could be coming up. I wonder if these are now the talkie versions, I know that the talkie version exists at least of WC2. Also there are some special missions that were in the Deluxe edition of WC2 that I have somewhere.
  3. Hahah, I kind of feel the same way. I'm still in S&M 1x04 and I played it to that point years ago when those were released, then I just somehow stopped and now that I started replaying those I stopped at the same point. I really don't know why as according to what I've read here, that's the point when the games actually started being more and more better. BttF is the only Telltale series that I've finished so far. I was waiting for the Monkey Islands really lot, but those are still sitting there in the huge backlog even though those might be good games. I guess I'm still scared because of Escape from Monkey Island. I do buy a lot of games, but usually only from discount bins in Steam/GoG, not so much physical copies anymore, but I do have some of those also gathered from years ago still unplayed. I have bought in the past full priced games that were really bad, really horrible. Like Rebellion from Lucasarts. I tried playing that but it's just so unplayable that I saved a lot of time and nerves to just quit it and uninstall it. It's basically a pile of shit compiled into a form of a game. These days I don't buy that much full priced games anymore because those will just end up in my backlog. (Except for many Telltale games which I have bought and not played). Last full priced game I bought was DNF and I'm playing that right now and next will be Rage and I will also play that immediately when it arrives. My own personal shame is FarCry 2 which I kind of stopped in the middle, partly because I upgraded my PC 1,5 years ago and I stopped the playing FC2 and haven't found time to continue the game and have instead played other games. I never intentionally quit playing games unless they are completely shit, like Rebellion was. Sometimes some games are really boring and I just can't find strength to completely those and some of the latest Tomb Raider games were like that so I instead lazily just went to Youtube to watch the rest and even after watching Youtube the games were even more boring because the story wasn't that good at all.
  4. Deus Ex

http://www.gog.com/en/news/back_to_the_old_school_with_ea_classics Dun dun duunnnnnnn Hopefully something awesome happens later today.
  5. Deus Ex 3

There has been weirdly increasing amount of really stupid moves coming from several publishers and retailers recently. Ubisoft, EA, Gamestop... what's next? Every time they try some move, the consumers will find it out quickly.
  6. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

Wait, I thought we had already a dedicated discussion for this game? Oh well, today's news tell us some glorious new exciting news. Eric Chahi's game is coming to PC and Steam in addition to the originally announced PSN and Xbox Live Arcade! This was confirmed by RPS. That reminds me, I wonder where is my activation key/download location email for Another World. I bought it back in 2006 from Eric Chahi's webpage, but I was searching through my old emails and couldn't find it, would be useful to get it unlocked in Steam if possible. Not really interested in buying again a game twice, though I would be supporting Eric directly.
  7. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

I bet they won't patch it further. The 30 fps limit etc. are still going to be there after this DRM removal patch is released. It would be very surprising if those other issues would be fixed as well. I won't buy it unless they fix up the PC port completely. Shame in a way, as I would've really liked to play Chahi's latest.

  9. Movie/TV recommendations

Haha, ok well I go the same feeling from Lost when I was watching it as in why am I wasting my time on that? Still for some reason I watched all the seasons and was massively disappointed the further I got, go figure... I'm done with J.J. Abrams movies and tv shows. Those are just not for me. The only one that I *might* watch in the future is the next Star Trek, because he probably has his hands on that again and that remake was pretty ok. And Star Trek is Star Trek, I can never miss out on that even if the director was McG / J.J or some other guy on the same level. Spielberg is known for directing child actors in many of his movies, and in this one I personally had problems with watching the whole bunch of them. Not really solid performances from any of them.
  10. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

I was waiting for Chahi's game really a lot and now thanks to Ubisoft's absolutely amazing shitty decisions I am not buying the game unless it's fixed and the DRM is removed. Unbelivable behaviour: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/08/18/ubisoft-edits-forum-keeps-from-dust-drm/
  11. Deus Ex 3

I really hope this kind of bullshit region locking isn't spreading. It does really look like it's not legal to do these kind of moves. Region locking in general is a disease that shouldn't exist in these times anymore and must be killed.
  12. Movie/TV recommendations

Arietty is still two and half months away for the Finnish premiere and propably they will only show that in the bigger cities. I saw Kokuriko-zaka kara, the next one "From up on Poppy Hill" advertised quite a lot in Japan. That will take again a year to come to Europe/US. Director is Goro Miyazaki in that one and screenplay is again done by Hayao. My wife informed me a few days ago that apparently one next project from Ghibli will be a documentary about young Miyazaki or something like that. It will be interesting if that is done as animation also. Would like to read some more info about that. EDIT: And now that I tried checking english websites, at least in those it has been said only that the project is about an autobiography.
  13. Unity3D

I hope the game locations include the Moon.
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

I watched Super 8. To summarize it: Crappy Lost creator and Spielberg with kids. Should've listened to the other peeps who saw it before me that it is crap as that is exactly what it was.
  15. Steam Cloud

Resurrected for a good reason. The steam gameplay timer sucks ass. I remember many people complaining during Portal 2 release that it doesn't count all the time that you have spent playing it, but I noticed it does that all the time. For example I have put many hours to DNF recently and it's stealing about 45 minutes from all my sessions. So it's several hours less and the latest it didn't even count at all! The time stayed the same as when I started my session. Steam is syncing something, but the gameplay time doesn't change.
  16. Rage

Yes, you use the cd/dvd key that is in the Rage disc or manual and enter it to Steam. Then Steam will add the game to your game library. I used this last with DNF. I bought the collector's box and just used the key in Steam and didn't have to use the discs at all other than to check the key code. Only reason it would fail, would be if someone already opened your box and used the key on their own Steam. Then Steam would say that this key has already been used. This happened to me with an old used copy of Gunman Chronicles.
  17. Rage

So, Rage will use just Steamworks on PC. That means there's no point in buying it straight from Steam with the 49,95€ price tag. Amazon.co.uk is selling for 29€ and game.co.uk is selling some exclusive collector's pack for 37,50€ including shipping costs. The thing I don't get about the collector's pack now that I was just about to pre-order it is what the pack includes. Two prequel comic books and a making of dvd. Well the comics are cool most likely and the dvd is always nice to have if it actually includes new stuff from behind the scenes and not just the promotional material clips they have posted on the internet in the past months. BUT the pack has only two comics, the prequel comic is three comic books long? So why not include the third book that is coming out next week? What the hell? So collector's pack people don't see the conclusion of the prequel story? 52 days to go for Europe and 49 for USA. I would really like to know why these days still some releases come a few days apart in different continents? What is so difficult about releasing the product everywhere in the world at the same time?
  18. Life

We will have 73,5 square meters so basically three rooms+kitchen+balcony and a proper toilet with a lock. It cost a little bit over 100 000 euros so the bank owns my ass now, but at least we will be paying it off now instead of just giving cold hard cash to some landlord. Also the plumbing was just done as it's around 40 years old building so the plumbing will be good for the next +40 years.
  19. Life

Had some fun yesterday when me and the mrs. drove around the town with normal bicycles and went around an 80 year old artificially created lake at the edge of the town. Total for the trip was about 25 km, so it was about twice longer than I had originally planned because at the moment we live in the center of the city. Shame that I wanted to record the whole thing with Android's Nokia app Sports Tracker, but I had too many GPS assistance things ticked so it ate my phone's battery way too fast. Also the battery wasn't full to begin with, so around 20km mark the phone went dead. Funny thing that when we got home, I charged the phone and noticed that the damn program didn't save the result when the battery died. So I got no record of our great adventure on bicycles... Oh yeah and I didn't tell this earlier, but 1,5 weeks ago we bought an apartment. No more rental living. Finally our own place! The actual moving is going to happen a month from now so we still have to live in the small rented cave we live in now. EDIT: Lets add some frustration to the mix. Sometimes my workplace seems like a fucking lottery place. Again got information that my manager is changing. I have had two different managers every year and this year all three of our managers have changed. Same was last year. Where the hell is the continuity in this environment?
  20. Happy Birthday!

Happy belated birthday Rodi! I wasn't really online during the weekend so I missed the actual day...
  21. de Blob

Wow, Awesomenauts looks really good. I like the art style a lot, the only disappointment in the end is that there's apparently no PC version planned.
  22. de Blob

RRRResurrected Because of sad news that the developer Blue Tongue Entertainment has been closed down by THQ, because apparently de Blob 2 was a commercial failure and the HD versions didn't sell like was hoped. http://www.arnnet.com.au/article/396911/game_over_thq_shutters_thq_studio_australia_blue_tongue_entertainment/ Also THQ Studios Australia was closed down at the same time. Shame, I really liked de Blob on Wii. Did the original Dutch team work on the Wii versions?

In my opinion out of the Build games really worth mentioning after Duke are: Duke Nukem 3D (1996) Blood (1997) Shadow Warrior (1997) Redneck Rampage (1997) All basically inside a year's time. Things changed quickly to people using more Carmack tech after Quake came out. I was really amazed how good the Build engine was for it's time, I'm not dissing it even one bit. 3D Realms had all kinds of cool stuff happening in almost every level of Duke3D to show the power of Build. It would've been great to see more development coming out of that and having a real Build 2.0 or so and to have new games from 3D Realms using that engine etc.
  24. Nintendo 3DS

The red 3DS would be the only first generation 3DS I would like to buy. I saw it in Japan when they released it and it looks sooooooooooo gooooooood. I already wrote to the Ocarina thread, but I hope there would be some details from big N about the western release of that red one. Still, I'm almost sure I can't get over the region lock and battery issues. EDIT: Wawoot! http://www.vg247.com/2011/08/10/nintendo-to-release-flame-red-3ds-in-us-on-september-9/ So Nintendo is doing the same as in Japan, releasing Starfox 64 3D and the red 3DS on the same day. In Japan it happened 14th July and in US 9th September. I wonder what will the suckers at NoE do then? Propably release next year.

Duke Nukem 3D  Can't give more thumbs, I only have two and one of those is still not in great condition! An absolutely blast to play. Immediately after I got the cast off, I started playing DN3D, good exercise for the thumb I hope. So actually I finished it about two weeks ago. I think I had not played the three first episodes since around 1997. I had also had no idea before that there was an Atomic edition with an official fourth episode added in. So I played the fourth episode for the first time. It was pretty cool, but not as great as the original episodes. I did like however the Area 51 and couple of other maps. It was amazing to see how good the Build engine really was. It was huge leaps more better than the doom engine feature-wise. But of course Quake was already coming so 3D Realms engine got kind of beaten to death quickly with Carmack's next creation. There were so many jokes inside this game that I was constantly grinning when I found all kinds of easter eggs I had never even realized before. I played it almost with the original setup, but I did use Eduke32. So higher resolution and mouse look were enabled. I unfortunately wasted a lot of time with shit ugly High resolution pack, because it makes the game look really ugly compared to the 2d sprite heaven that it is originally. Also with Ati cards the shitty HRP makes your computer use over 2gigs of memory due to some leak, so the game crashed like 3 times per each level so I wasted two weeks in completing the game. If I just would've played from the beginning with just pure Eduke32 I would've played through the whole game in 2-3 days.
