  1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Yes, it does require the Motion Plus because Miyamoto and Aonuma have tried to build the game to take advantage over the better movement that the Motion Plus brings with it. I gave away my old original Wiimotes last year and bought from Japan while I was there the new ones that have Motionplus built in. Shame there aren't more games that have required that. I wonder will the limited edition gold wiimote look good, or will it be cheaply done? It's really strange that they are not offering golden nunchuks at all, that should come with it or at least as an option to buy.
  2. FM transmitters for cars

I found the same Nexxus one from Amazon, all the customer reviews in play.com and Amazon seem positive about this one, but I'm still not sure. There is also another choice from Belkin, here also the reviews say it's good. The first one is supposed to have a well functioning hands free microphone etc. The second one doesn't, but then I have a third gadget Supertooth Bluetooth Visor Car Kit where the reviews again say that it should work. I'm really troubled that should I just risk it and buy the first one or buy the two other devices. I got some stuff ordered already yesterday, the cigarette lighter splitter so I get two there instead of one and also a windscreen holder for the phone/mp3 player, but these transmitters/hf devices are really troubling as I really don't want to buy bad quality. I would really want the sound to be as good as possible.
  3. (IGN.com)

Haha, yeah my friend just sent me this yesterday also. I laughed at the Tom of Finland reference.
  4. Life

Interesting weekend. First of all I got an eye infection on my right eye on thursday, so friday morning was mostly spent at the company nurse and doctor appointments. They confirmed it was eye infection as my eye was completely red and had a lot of blood veins appearing over the white areas. So they prescribed me some special eye drops for a week and also some weird lotion to put during nights inside the lower eyelid, creepy. At least I got a sick leave day out of all that, it was impossible for me to look at bright lights or at computer screens during friday. The eye is feeling better, no idea what caused it and the good doctor didn't investigate it further, nothing new there. It might the flu I'm having now and if I've by accident touched the eye with my fingers for example when those have been not clean. Also it could be because of my contact lenses, which have never caused anything like this in the past 15 years that I've had contacts. Saturday was fun, I went early in the morning to a local computer store to get rid of my Ati HD5770 as I've grown very pissed about it as it's causing too many problems lately relating to OpenGL. So the guy there offered me a super deal to change the Ati to Geforce GTX560Ti overclocked card. Mind you, this is the only place in my town that still accepts old junk in exchange to new junk. The day continued with more success, my brother called and said he had found a car for me, I have been searching for one for over a year. I went to check that and a few hours later I have an awesome Toyota Corolla, just the kind of car I was hoping to find over a year ago! For many it might not be big thing, but all my previous cars were from the 80's, so it's quite a mind exploding change to have a car that is only a few years old now. Yay for productive weekends!
  5. STEAM hacked

In the end I managed to change the password late last night just to be sure. Also I noticed that they had removed the card details from Steam, my credit card details are no longer saved there. From now on I shall be using just Paypal in Steam and possibly getting a VISA Electron for net purchases due to an interesting discussion I had with a friend who is much more paranoid about internet and personal details than me. The Steam Guard is a good thing, I believe that helps already a lot that nobody can hijack your account. I've had that working since they introduced it.
  6. STEAM hacked

Ahh damnit... And in password change I get all the time today "Steam cannot currently process your request. Please try again later." Is every Steam user in the world trying to change their passwords at the same time?
  7. The threat of Big Dog

In the future that robot will peel the skin of humans as we sleep.
  8. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

  9. Id's Rage

I don't know should I blame ATI/AMD or id Software or both. This is just fucking horrible coding. This was yesterday: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/595827150670232948/07B0F3ED6F7AB4B046C976BB3474938F55A6D782/ I got that fixed by manually adding some Ati dll files to Rage's folder. And this today right in the middle of a level, it did work for 30 minutes first: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596953697672487400/7D6854C097B415098CE16E6051EFEF9226B60423/
  10. Phoenix Wright sticks back!

Stolen from shammack's G+. 20xsntIVokk I love to torment you guys by bringing this thread up again. I also would like to see Miles Edgeworth 2 to come somewhere in US or EUR! Shall we arrange a crusade together to Capcom's offices at Chuo-ku, Osaka?
  11. Holiday giveaway of 2011

I could be interested in your Wii games, some members of my family bought their kids Wiis last year so those might be good Christmas presents. I already got them Mario Galaxy so they get finally a good game instead of the shovelware crap they are buying from discount bins all the time.
  12. Duke Nukem Forever Canned [and then not]

So yes, finally finished DNF last week. Gameplay time took me around 19h so I am truly extremely slow at playing game, but I had no rush. The game had it's Duke moments, but felt a lot like set piece gaming where all levels were like completely separately designed. The gameplay felt quite slow compared to DN3D which I just played through during summer. I'm relieved that they made the four weapon patch to the game as the idea about having only two weapons in a Duke game is quite horrible from the start. Also not a good idea to have the regen health and checkpoint saves from modern console games. Checkpoint saving made me pissed the most if I happened to die in the wrong place at the wrong time, I had to backtrack a lot of stupid sequences. Also the game made me feel like I was handheld almost the whole time and the levels did not feel open ended at all, because mostly it seemed to happen in quite small areas where the door always closed behind so you couldn't go back to the start. I did however like to hear John St. John's voice again and the beginning of the game was pretty great with the museum and all that. I really liked all the small homages and nods to the previous games and other games. The game was practically filled with constant reminders and jokes about other things, just like DN3D was. Seems I'm mostly writing about the bad aspects of the game, but overall it was a pretty mediocre game, I'm happy that the game finally came out, but also wondering that according to the history docs that came available in the menu after completing the game, that the PC single player was already done in spring 2010. How could they not see that this was not old school at all and that many changes should've been done to remove all the stupid stuff. I watched all the videos that came to the menu as well and still even today, the 2001 E3 trailer is so great. The build videos from 2006 etc. look really crappy, from those you can clearly see that 3DRealms had no idea. End verdict: I hope next one will be great as that one should be now officially first real Gearbox project. Please Randy, make it really old school and seriously, play DN3D while you design it to really get the true old school feeling. Duke will work during these times if they make it right. Lets see what happens with the DLC, it's taking too long to appear anyway and the achievements have been visible in Steam since summer so you pretty much know what to expect.
  13. My monitor just melted

Just buy a Philips Cinema 21:9. Games would look quite weird in that.
  14. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

W1ZtBCpo0eU So sad the beginning, but true. And the ending is purrrrrrfect.
  15. Recently completed video games

Managed to finally complete DNF. Took apparently 19.8 hours according to Steam clock and I started this in August so this took three months in real time, man I'm really slow playing games damnit. I'm soon like Jake or probably worse already. Going to write later something in the games thread and throw a link here. EDIT: http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/showpost.php?p=183862&postcount=271
  16. Media Player Apps

I still use foobar2000 like did years ago, but I don't listen to much music through the computer anymore as I mainly use my phone and Google Music 4.0 player in that. I just wish the proper Google Music service would become available outside of USA.
  17. General Video Game Deals Thread

Holy crap what a day again. Why can't I stop buying these sweet amazing games? I gave moneys to the Humble Bundle again, and like 30 minutes after I did so I got an email that Binding of Isaac and Blocks that Matter were added to the Bundle. I had thought about getting Isaac at some point and now I got it then AND with a Steam key which is just awesome. I also went it and bought Costume Quest, Amnesia and Vampire Bloodlines. I have Bloodlines as physical copy already, but now I can get rid of that then. No need for two copies of the same game in this case. The thing about Costume Quest is a shame in a way as Tim and co. deserve more money than 4,50 of which Gabe takes his cut.
  18. Recently completed video games

To continue the trend of not talking about recently completed video games, I remember only one game from the same era that had "familiar names in the credits" and that was Broken Sword 3. That had a lot of Adventure Gamers/Thumbs people in the credits, and I don't remember anymore why. Was it was because people filled in some official survey or something? I remember being very jealous of both back in the day, though BS3 is a crappy crate pushing game compared to the greatness that is Psychonauts.
  19. Voxatron

_q-xqI8Cm5A A friend sent me an email about this game yesterday. Game made entirely out of voxels. Everything can be destroyed in the game and it's an arena shooter. This looks pretty awesome and is said to come out later this year for PC, Mac. Technology is totally different, but art seems to remind me so much of Minecraft, the game I have never played, but have seen a lot of videos and screenshots about.
  20. Happy Birthday!

    Happy Birthday Mr. Vi-di-ou geimz!
  21. Recently completed video games

The thing that makes me very sad about the Monkey Island remakes is that they messed up the first one so much. It is the most important MI game for me and I don't get why they didn't update the first one to have the possibility to for example use the voices with the old graphics like the second one did. Especially when the dvd set came out just a short time ago. Also I would've absolutely desired to hear Ron's, Tim's and Dave's comments about the first game. Still, the originals are the greatest and there really was no need for the remakes. The only good thing was that new people got to know the greatest adventure games created by Lucasarts, but sadly everything stopped again when the president of the company got changed AGAIN after ToMI and these remakes and four games appearing in Steam.
  22. Life

I would love to get rid of iTunes from my computer. I already sold my iPod Nano in the beginning of the year to get rid off all Apple related stuff I have so I wouldn't have to use iTunes with my PC, but of course my wife has an iPod as well and now she bought iPhone 4... so shit. The only the way to get rid off it is to buy another computer and eradicate this thing from my desktop PC. I really don't like iTunes at all and I absolutely don't like the way it suggests to install Safari and something else every time an update has appeared. Also seems to slow things down, it seems like it has been coded pretty badly for PC. I've never heard it working on Mac like it works on PC.
  23. Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Available now for only 3 euros now in Steam during the Halloween sale. So practically almost for free. What is the cut between Valve and the dev regarding the prices?
  24. Renegade Ops

I could chip in for a four pack also if you'd accept me as the fourth guy. Do we pay one our share and then the one buying it gifts the 3 copies to the others?
  25. General Video Game Deals Thread

Ahh, yeah they are about to join the EU so they still have their real money instead of our artificial money.
