We watched recently Scorcese's Hugo. I got just one sentence to say about it. Teal and orange.

GDC 2011: The Idle Thumbs Conf Grenade: Games Kasavin
Kolzig replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I don't know what's wrong with me, but I saved the listening of this podcast and reading of this thread for one year. I know I posted to this thread back when it was released to thank for releasing new stuff, but hoooooooooooooooooolyyyyyyy crap this was one of the best Thumbs podcasts for me. Sean Vanaman's Epic Mickey talk was unbelievable, I loved every second of that! I remember the time when the Oswald news broke out that Disney had bought back the rights, I really had no idea that this was all because of young talented interns like Vanaman thinking up ideas for a game that became Spector's Epic Mickey. Now I want to see someday a Vanaman and Spector lead Disney game. Who do I have to bribe to make that happen? -
Brian Fargo is really a superb guy. I love the Kicking it Forward idea, I hope it catches on and people join that movement!

That's awesome ThunderPeel! Really looking forward to how the project will evolve in the future.

I think I read that they were promoting it as a enhanced "HD version" with better character models and textures and from the videos I saw none of that. But yeah, the PC version was already HD years ago.

easiest is a stream downloader plugin for firefox for example. That's how I got mine as I'll watch these at a later point so I wanted to save these to my archives for later viewing.

So how is the stream video, is it archived somewhere for us poor people to watch still or were the magic moments lost to the digital space? EDIT: Nevermind, found it! http://www.twitch.tv/idlethumbs/b/312434787 http://www.twitch.tv/idlethumbs/b/312443712

this was pretty interesting, though not really ted worthy as it's more comedic, but still so true about the copyright mafia. GZadCj8O1-0

Congrats to Brian Fargo about this. It's really cool that he finally gets to make Wasteland 2. It's clear that this push went live because of Double Fine's success. Though I wonder how soon Kickstarter gets overblown with projects related to such games like DFA and Wasteland 2. elmuerte and thunderpeel, you guys are giving me nightmares, if Anarchronox 2, LBA3 or Firefly were to ever appear in Kickstarter... I don't know what the hell would happen. Too much awesome stuff would be a serious health risk for me.

Anachronox is really great, it's nice for GoG to get that to their catalog. Also extremely cool to hear if it's a patched version. So when will they get Daikatana? GoG also released Apache Longbow and Hind recently. I remember both of those and I'm really scared about those. Really extreme hardcore helicopter simulators. Also really cool that they did release the Crusader games: I bought the first one when GoG announced it. Day 1 perch. They also had a really informative interview with the guy who created the games.

Now I'm ready for the sequel. Bring it on Michel Ancel! I finally completed the whole game yesterday on PC and it was sooooo good. Such a masterpiece. I had some graphics glitches, but that didn't bother me so much. I should punish myself somehow to neglect this game for so many years. I have always wanted to play it but for unknown reasons have continuously pushed it back. Shame that Ubi didn't attach those oh so useless achievements of the HD version to the Steam version. I was checking those and I would've got 95% of those during my playthrough. I was comparing videos of the HD version and the Steam version that I have and is it really so that the textures and character models are exactly the same, just the fonts and hud looks more sharper as the font resolution has been made better for higher resolutions? Seems like a lazy Ubi Shanghai "port"?

Eric Chahi just released Another World for Android. It's working really well on at least my phone, but sometimes I really hate the touch screen controls. Anyways, I played through it on one sitting on hard difficulty that resembles the original difficulty. Such a cool game, I have played through this game so many times now on Amiga, PC and Android that I have the whole game's world map in my head.

Haha, I know how you feel. On the last day of Kickstarter still being open for this, after careful calculation I raised my $30 to cool $110. That is the most I've ever paid for any game, but the extras seem to be worth it when summed up. Also my wife is not that happy about this.

When I first heard of this I immediately thought that Chris has something to do with this. Awesome idea!

Do you plan to play the Wii version of Forgotten Sands at some point?

So this is what my friend has been working on: lxI1L1RiSJQ Cool that they got Nasa guy involved in this somehow.

Yes, we've noticed. Today we actually started watching "the last season" of Ryomaden and are now done until 40th episode. We will finish the show before the annual Japan trip in May. One of our goals this year is to go adventuring to the area that used to be called Tosa.

The Weyland Industries webpage is saying about it being 50 years anniversary since that event, so the movie will take place in 2073 from the looks of it. I've been watching lot of Japanese movies recently, and some other movies that I haven't seen in ages. During this weekend we watched Fortress and Fortress 2 starring Christopher Lambert. The first one was just as good as I remembered it to be and the sequel was as bad as I remembered it to be. Straight to video style cash in. Recently we also watched Kamui Gaiden which was a pretty weird movie full of interestingly cheap CGI work. Movie is based on a manga comic. Earlier we watched the whole trilogy of Death Note which consists of Death Note, Death Note: The Last Name and Death Note: L - Change the World. These are also based on a famous manga. Also recently we did watch Norwegian Wood which was clearly channeling Tale of Genji in a way to me. Can't really say exactly how, but that's the feeling I got from the movie. A few years ago we saw Detroit Metal City which is one of the best metal related movies I've ever seen. The connecting part with all these movies is Ken'ichi Matsuyama. We have been watching a lot of his works in the recent weeks. He is also starring in the latest NHK taiga drama Taira no Kiyomori, but that's only being watched by my wife as I have trouble with the language without subs...

I just have to hope they'll make those PC versions on Steam then. They just recently said they are looking for other platforms in addition to Playstation now that Journey is finished.

SOL: Exodus (X-Wing / TIE Fighter / FreeSpace fans take note)
Kolzig replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Video Gaming
That's going to be a long sleep. I loved Wing Commander and X-Wing/Tie Fighter space games. I was always too scared to play Elite. Chris Roberts was really great with cinematic games in an era when computers had really limited processing power. I watched my brother play the first one on Vic-20/Commodore 128, I don't remember which was it and got too scared because it looked so confusingly awesome. Then I tried Elite 2 on Amiga and never could do much in it as that was a "don't copy that floppy" from somebody and I didn't have the manual. -

Ahh shit with my browser, it looked like mikemariano's comment was the latest new one... I didn't check the date. -
That movie is a must watch on my list ever since a friend showed me that about a month ago. Could be great, could be really bad.
