I've got The Eye for about a year now, still haven't watched it though. I think I got the idea to get my hands on it, when I read about it in ragnar tornquist's blog.

I went to Helsinki last weekend, and I saw there A Very Long Engagement (Un Long Dimanche Fiancailles), the newest Jeunet movie. Man, it was awesome.

Owen Becomes Bond Favorite Actor Clive Owen has become favorite to replace Pierce Brosnan as James Bond following his Oscar nomination on Tuesday. British bookmakers William Hill have stopped taking bets on who will be the next 007, because customers have staked so much money on Owen following the announcement he's up for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role in Closer. The odds on Owen getting to grips with the suave superspy have been slashed from 4/1 to 5/2, with Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor second favorites with odds of 4/1. A spokesperson for William Hill says, "Owen's nomination sparked a betting frenzy from James Bond fans. They feel his heightened global recognition will have done his chances of being the next Bond a world of good."

1UP is reporting that Electronic Arts has layed off between 50-70 people from it's Los Angeles offices, where a large part of EA games are developed. Apparently the teams effected are the ones responsible for GoldenEye: Rogue Agent and Medal of Honor: Dogs of War. EA LA was also responsible for last year's Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault and The Lord of The Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/01/26/news_6117158.html

4,800 Gamers Unhappy with their PSP In a recent interview, SCE president Ken Kutaragi disclosed that over 4,800 Japanese gamers have sent in their PSPs for repair due to issues with the triangle button. The complaint is that the button is not sensitive enough, requiring it be pressed stronger than the others. Kutaragi admitted that it wasn't an issue with the PSP as it was part of the design. Because of its close proximity to the screen, the sensor under the button is a bit misaligned. Kutaragi stated, "This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to. I didn't want the PSP's LCD screen to become any smaller than this, nor did I want its machine body to become any larger."

Indeed, the trailer looks pretty sweet.

We shall see. But I know Crashday will be the best. (Actually 2nd best, nothing can beat the original Stunts.)

I came to the pc world rather late, all my friends already had pc's. My first computer was a used 486DX 33Mhz machine. It didn't have a sound card, but in some time I got enough money and bought myself a brand new Sound Blaster 16 Value card. Oh man the sweet sound of digitized speech in the first NHL Hockey, and the adlib/sb musics in Stunts and Jones in the Fast Lane. That was heaven. Hmm, I also remember building some weird crap in school with pc speakers. Doorbells and all sorts of strange unworking scrap.

http://www.forbes.com/business/feeds/ap/2004/12/20/ap1720133.html EA Buys Ubisoft Stake Electronic Arts today announced that it has purchased a 20% stake in French game company Ubisoft, for an unannounced amount of money. The purchase is subject to anti-trust clearance from the U.S. government. It seems unlikely that EA will stop at owning 19.9 percent though, so expect to see a full takeover before too long. Ubisoft is responsible for games like Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and the Splinter Cell series. God damn EA, I fucking hate that company.

Hmm, I seem to remember that at least in the past cdaccess only selled jewel cased games to outside of USA. So they kind of threw away the boxes if someone ordered the game for example from Europe.
