WTF is a kitten doing at Double Fine? Maybe it's stuffed? Maybe it is an original Maurizio Cattelan?

You can sit behind a chair, as that awful metroid demo made apparent, but chairs are out of the question. Mr. Gates obviously doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

Who's Morticia?

There's a tamagochi game? I know about Nintendogs but I guess I wasn't paying attention... and Ridge Racer! has been the cry of the sony-is-out-of-their-mind camp.

Somebody shoot me. Somebody shoot me in the face.

Oh, god, the horror! The horror! :scary: :scary:

This is terrifying. Photorealism is a misguided goal. Photo-realism as a term applied here is really wrong. This is photorealism: What we have going on in games nowadays is some sort of shit that eludes description. It seems to try to achieve some sort of axiomatic ideal and it does it without rhyme or reason. What makes Half-Life 2 stand out as a prime example of the you-and-your-"photorealism"-can-go-to-hell school of game design is the careful attention that the artists paid to the temperature of color or way light bounces and the eyes move on people, rather than letting random technocrats stuff the game world full of shaders.

Granted, but Gurney Halleck looked like Patrick Stewart and Paul looked like Kyle MacLachlan and Lady Jessica looked like Francesca Annis, etc. The art directions were fairly uniform and so on. The handling of the story wasn't as trippy, but it was good all the same.

I read this as Twin Peaks and took a double take. This world needs more David Lynch-inspired video games. EDIT: I guess the first Dune game qualifies somewhat, no? That was a good game. I want an Eraserhead RTS Adventure.

I've been catching up on SNES stuff personally, I've never played any of those old-timey consoles before relatively recently. Link to the Past is quite a mind-blowingly good game, to name but one.

Reading Jake's and Eurogamer's impressions, I am starting to be somewhat skeptical about the gimickiness of the first wave of games that will come out of the console myself. Now, this is nothing that I see inherently wrong with the controller, I think Nintendo is just aiming to get the obvious stuff out of the way, before they go on to more thought-out endeavours.

It totally shows your whimsical, sensitive side. Or somesuch.

You're so wrong. You're so very wrong. I venture to postulate vehemently that based on nothing else than this cool factor you speak of, Wii has the upper hand this time around.

Arx Fatalis was indeed awesome. Last I heard they were making a sequel using the Source engine, but this doesn't look like much of a sequel. The trailer is still downloading, but I checked out some screenshots.

Honestly, I was somewhat disgusted by both Sony and Microsoft's console offerings until this e3, where I've realized that Microsoft is kinda neat and quaint and Sony is kinda doomed. Man, look at the three press conferences for a very stark illustration of each respective corporate culture. Microsoft is full of somewhat dull computer geeks who think they can take over the world, Nintendo is full of gleeful artistic stoners, and Sony is a soulless, statistic-spewing, flowchart-loving corporate monstrosity in which creativity might as well be severely stifled. I wonder if anything can happen between now and then that will turn the tables.

If you can have fairy boys and great apes and Italian plumbers and women from outer space named Shamus and some manner of canister-bound life forms all duking it out with umbrellas and hammers on some sort of a floating island---why not let Snake in? The more the marrier.

Has it really had that long a development time?

Al Lowe is a hack. Oh, god, how I hate that man.
-
It is odd how I expected Microsoft to be the buttboy of this generation, but now more than ever it seems Sony will take that oh-so-venerated place. * *) We don't have any Sony-centric corporate icons amongst the smilies; this is the closest I could come.

I was too. I clearly remember them saying that the new Zelda played on the (then) Revolution would allow for the controller to be used in new and amazing ways. I guessed that implied that you would just insert the Gamecube disc into the Wii and run with it--but no.

Big announcement: Wii felates, mentally and physically. Sony just sort of licks a little to appear friendly. Microsoft is already asleep.
