Not much stealth about this one, I'm afraid, they announced it weeks ago.

Is this, uh, a good thing?

At first I though DNC had something to do with the democratic national committee.

I'm gonna go on a wee bit of a tangent here and ask my former about their thoughts on this article. The gist of it is that people in Croatia who decide to declare themselves atheists end up labeled as "pinko commies" and "persecutors of all that is Croatian and Catholic". The country's stats (95% believers, 5% atheist) are even worse than those of the US (85% vs. 15% by some recent reckoning) and are prolly far worse than those of the enlightened secular Europe.I am well aware that since the abortion of communism and the bullshit of the '90s, with the Ustaše and the Četnici coming out of the woodwork, the church on both sides had regained a political power it didn't previously have. But I was always under the impression that there was no persecution of non-believers. That the newly-out religious and the nonreligious just kindof tolerated each other. It seems it is a lot easier to declare oneself non religious in Serbia. I don't really know anyone who is any kind of religious over there. Now that I am writing about it, it sounds completely naïve. I haven't really been paying much attention to the political scene in the Balkans in the last 10 years, and I was too young to notice nuances before.

Mine wasn't, but she gets really angry if I even suggest my presence around her did anything to lead to her dropping of the whole Jesus thing. She has a point since most of her friends and previous boyfriends were atheists. That said, wow, I just realized that she did indeed wear a crucifix when we met and at some point made a big deal of not wearing it any more. Weird that I would forget this. She is such a good atheist now, reads PZ Myers and all... I also realize that in this light my previous post sounds like a load of shit. To my defense, she claimed to be a Catholic, but was not a particularly dogmatic one and didn't much care for repression. And she wasn't opposed to prophylactics which most religious in the Bibble Belt seem to be.

The Secret of the weirdness of Monkey Island is in its use of white I like to call casual anachronism. It is an anachronism and it is just an aspect of the world.

I really enjoyed Inception too.

I dunno. I found it that non-religious, non-repressed people with healthy attitudes towards sex tend to be more comfortable about it all. The religious are just getting an extra kick out of bucking the taboo (or finally getting sanctioned by the big man in the sky and his earthy bureaucracy). But at any point they could go all guilt-ridden and flip the fuck out!

Shit, the [REDACTED] console Ron keeps peppering his blog posts with could be something faddy and en vogue, like the iPad. Which would be a super dick kind of move, what with the PC being the obvious and easiest thing one could release the game for after the consoles have been saturated.

I watched the first four hours of Stalker five years ago… I keep meaning to go back and watch the rest one day. :/

Yes. We totally hate this shit. Also, will there be a PC port? Did it happen and I missed it?

Dude, I drive into Houston happy and drive out of it wanting to murder someone. It is the most roadragey city on the planet. It doesn't help that it is the dumbest-planned city in the first world.

Hey, whatever helps. I am waiting for the Steam version.

Why do people care for disks in mostly empty boxes? If I can help it, I'd rather never buy a game on a piece of physical media again.

Man, I am right there with ya. In addition to the font being super dumb as a result of this quaint design fuckery, I can never actually READ the stupid thing because my brain is already wired with the understanding of proper Cyrillic. Every time I see this shit in the wild, I have to ask someone else to read it for me.

You are out of your mind, since none of the TellTale games (save for the Tales of Monkey Island) even allowed you to combine things in the inventory. Also, Myst?! Wtf are you doing here, go back to Just Adventure + where you belong, Judas! Apostate! Heretic!

Man, I think I have listened to the double rainbow OMG song at least a dozen times in the last couple of days.
-
What makes it, tho, is the short live-person version at the end.

I would camp at national and state parks rather than in a car by the side of the road. You should be able to make the trip with one night's sleep somewhere in the middle. What specific Texas tips would you like? Job finding? Living without cold weather?
-
On rainbows, obviously.

Fuck you Thank you, Patters! I've had that song stuck in my head for two days now!! Here's ten minutes of fantastic comedy: 8u6BZv6_DLc

Wellp, that was a rather ending. I don't remember the exact puzzle you were referring to, Chris, but I do recall wondering why they wanted to trip up the colorblind. Visually, while I dig the Grickly style, I didn't really like the way the outlines were baked into the background. It was inconsistent enough to notice. There were some objects that had these dinky outlines and were positioned against things with far fatter lines. And then some lines were obviously flattened into a wall, becoming thiner in the background and looking generally foreshortened. I wish the backgrounds were either fully 2D, or that the outlines were handled programmatically, with an outline shader or something along those lines. The story was pretty engrossing and well written, but the puzzles were hit and miss. Some were super hard, some lacked info needed to solve, yet others were utterly banal. And then it felt like it was over too soon, even by Telltale standards. On the whole a + kind of game. It was fun, but not as hot as I hoped it would be.

I was in middle school when I Know What You Did Last Summer came out. I remember even then thinking it was a dumb film, with my underdeveloped middle school brain. Nothing about this memory makes me want to revisit the movie and see if it is indeed as laughable as I remember it being. That said, around the same time, I also thought that Multiplicity was a good movie, so I could be horribly mistaken about my IKWYDLS verdict.

Wow, you've had long hair for as long as I have known you. I like the pointy hand, it is a nice fashion accessory.
