Attached. :buyme: Ready for insertion into the forum list. But boo inconsistent vertical-align for non-smiley face images.

So I have been keeping one eye on log files, being a benevolent philosopher king/big brother of the server and noticed this thing: The server has barely been up for three weeks, guys. :pwned: :pwned:

Hot scoops from inside EA - honest....!

Big companies are dumb. There is no meritocracy. -
The blocks fall as they normally would if you mined them, it just eats a large radius around itself. It also behaves a little silly, and kindof fun: if you plant it, it will stay where you put it, but if you hit it, it will fall, and then explode. Also, I think it has a larger radius when surrounded by dirt rather than stone.

OK! I have put it back online. I have whitelisted a bunch of you dudes who off the top of my head sound like respectable members of society. If you log in and you see you cannot put down blocks or destroy them and your name when you chat is gray, that means you are a SHIFTY PERSON NOT TO BE TRUSTED . If you feel like you ought be able to vandalize the Idle T land, PM me or ysbreker and we'll grace you with the relevant abilities . If this works, we can turn fire back on and bring back lava griefing to the max. Ysbreker, add some words about this to your original post and we're golden.

THE SERVER MIGHT BE BEHAVING ODDLY, I AM TRYING SOMETHING OUT. BEAR WITH ME!! Thank you for your patience.

I like the "crazy gods on a rampage" feel of our world, with no enforced rigidity, not even for the downtown.

I just reset the spawn back to the old place. I think we're good to go.
-
I want to at least finish the museum, and make some sort of recording of my nook in this world. Then we can torch it.
-
And /spawn is now in the middle of Patters' castle, for some reason.
-
Seriously, some really messed up griefing going on in this bitch.
-
Yeah, last night I was running around, mining my own business, and then I decided to go /home, but the server wouldn't teleport me. So I tried /spawn, and nothing. Then I disconnected and tried to connect and couldn't. I am curious how long I had been digging and building while the client couldn't communicate with the server. It could've been a while.

You just follow the grassy from the communal chests past the marina, through the big IDLE sign, or you can take a boat and follow the path along. It is not quite done yet, my #1 Wonderland, but you can still check it out... Maybe I'll go and make the directional signs more explicit.

Oh, the horror. For the record, I thought the first half of first season was really awesome, and then it went to shit when they tried to artificially recreate these melodramatic tensions that either didn't seem to exist in the first half, or were resolved.

Doors are still a little stupid in multiplayer.

Noooo, c'mon! Fire is fun We just need to police it better. Somehow.

The Social Network was indeed good, but I find all superlative reviews that compare it to Citizen Kane or The Godfather to be way, way hyperbolic. Also, I wanted to barf when

Maybe we should share the server login infos among the addicted faithful so that we can restart the box without relying on ysbreker...

It's been a slow day at work, I could've gotten some mining in.

See, I thought ys rented some sort of box on a server that specializes in hosting things like minecraft and to reduce the need for unique IPs, these dudes put different instances of the game on different ports. There was this one time some random dude logged on and was like, WHO ARE YOU, MAN? and we were all, We're us, who the fuck are you? And he was all, Oops, wrong server. And then he bailed. So I assumed his error was in the port, rather than COMPLETELY ARBITRARY TYPO on the remainder of the numbers. Although, I guess if the number was close enough, it could've been another in a block of IPs the host had... anyway... I really know NOTHING about the server, other than that it is probably located in Germany and sublet from hetzner.de, that the ping is pretty middling from where I am sitting. There was something ys said that made me think he didn't just have a general-purpose box he ran arbitrary shit on, but a pre-baked solution. Still, this option would make more sense judging by the need for occasional reboots... agh...

25565 is the default port? Why do we even need to include it in the ip then? And why don't we have to connect to minecraft.idlethumbs.com:25565? Does the client assume the port is 25565 when you put in a domain name rather than an ip?
-
It's the server. Also, I didn't know you could force a domain to forward to a specific port. How you do that, Doug?

Man, I thought Langdell was merely a horrible, vindictive, petty trademark squatter, but the actual extent to which he went to forge all this shit makes me wonder if he is also completely insane.

The 2000 diamonds are not server commands, but an exploit that involves server latency and chests—you may have had things drop off the face of the earth when moving them within chests quickly. If you time it right, you can duplicate items. Since this is a thing, I've tried to make things difficult for me in other ways. Hence growing grass at the bottom of the world and getting the writing on the floating island to appear correct from both west and south, etc etc. I am really enjoying building all the subtle, Disneyland-style conveyors and pointers to funnel people where I want them to go. No roller coasters in my fantasy park, and I am not quite done with any of it yet, but I think there is a kind of coherent, curated adventure/experience/stroll to be had. Soon, you will all get the full dealio.
