Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server
MrHoatzin replied to MrHoatzin's topic in Multiplayer Networking
We can build city walls in concentric circles, so as we outgrow the old downtown we can leave old inner walls when we add newer outer walls—just remove the moats and traps and complicated gates and such. Another neat thing would be if we could set up a market. Say, I start a bread garden in our city. I can set up a stall in front of my bread garden where I trade bread for diamonds or whatever. So I have a dispenser with a button, you click it and it gives you a bread, but there is a chest and I ask that you leave me some diamonds for the bread you take. I wouldn't expect one diamond for one bread, but if you use my bread, leave a diamond sometime. -

How about the next world we build, we do a proper SMP—with a caveat that we try to build as densely as possible. All the rad stuff that we wanna build goes in, but right around the hub. We mine and set up communal chests and public works, but with the concentration of a fine filigree through the world, like a proper city. As it starts to feel constrained, we can spread out as needed, make little similarly dense outposts in other places—and connect the two with roads or a train or something like that. It would be rad if each outpost gets to be self-contained, with food sources and own excavation systems and mob proofing and the like. Another neat thing would be to put the spawn point inside the communal chest area. Waddayasay? 1.9? -
To paraphrase Thompson, that cannot possibly go wrong.

Holy shit, who made the void, that place seriously freaked me out. Funny too. Man, the new shaders are really rad... I should open up my bedrock garden from the first epoch and see how it looks with the reduction in atmospheric depth that happens down there. -
Yes and on that note at least try to give a hint as to what the content of your own black bars is (not you in particular, but people in this thread specifically, having whole conversations in black bars). True, you can get the hint by scrolling up, but that becomes more of a chore when conversations wrap to the next page...

So I have been playing a little over the last couple of days (my thinggie is in the grassy field south east of spawn) and I can't say I am digging the creative mode. It is fun sure, but also somehow not as meditative and exciting. It was more fun to build ridiculous epic things by cheating in SMP than it is in a pure creative mode... -
Hey, me too. I am not demonizing anything.

That dude's name is Mammon, right? I can never remember.

It is true. The fact that the jury is out on the real implications of perpetrating all that pretend violence, doesn't mean that our younger generations don't spend a lot of time killing virtual people in grizzly ways. It is a notable aspect of the world we live in. Is it literally battlefield training? Probably not, but the fact is that unmanned drones—the unequivocal success story of military robotics—are controlled with controllers that look and feel like Playstation controllers (a really scary article with some really scary bits; they also mention Big Dog). All that hand-eye coordination does come in handy.

I can't tell if we're shocked that this kind of publication exists and is successful, or if we're just acting as observers of culture at large.
-
Well, looks to me like you've learned a valuable life lesson, son.
-
Not really.

Ditto. Maybe have some sort of puzzle-piece structure across all the episodes—where there is one hub area with portals to the areas of each episode, and as the episodes are made and released, the hub area's portals open up. Alternatively—or maybe better yet—it can follow the TellTale model where the assets are recycled from one episode to the next.

There are some really neat ones in there. You need to work more on your composition, tho. And figure out what it is you want to shoot. Take a look at the works of some masters and try to figure out what makes them great. Henri Cartier-Bresson has some of the most impressive compositions of any visual medium. Diane Arbus has some really amazing subject matter photographed starkly. W. Eugene Smith did wonders for photojournalism. Robert Mapplethorpe shot some amazing(ly NSFW) stuff that takes the depiction of the human form into a new milieu as far as the history of art is concerned. Sally Mann has been taking pictures of the wilderness outside her house and her kids, you'd think these are somewhat mundane topics, but her work is super powerful. She shoots everything on home-made glass plate negatives and it looks amazing. So, you know, immerse yourself in the work of the masters who appeal to you. Steal all that you can from them and build up on that.

It works fine. It is installed on the TV box, one of the half a dozen icons on the desktop are its, the game discs are prolly on the spindle on the coffee table.

It's been on GOG forever, no?

The only thing about Dreamhost that is worthy of complaint is the fact that they store control panel passwords in an encrypted fashion that is decryptable. If this is not a concern for you, step right up. It does annoy me a bit, but not enough to move all my shit. -
Is this when we ask if Tanu gets it?

I dreamt while passing out after lunch today that Psychonauts 2 was in the works and this was common knowledge.
-
I am guessing it is some sort of quaint euphemism.
-
Wow, that looks pretty weird, potentially rad. I wonder where they're hoping they would be able to take this game further.

In short, age of consent laws be crazy. That is amazingly progressive. In the US you summarily see "sexting" teenagers prosecuted under kiddy porn laws and permanently branded as "child sex offenders" for doing nothing that would objectively merit that degree of freakout on the authorities' part...
-
Jeez, what is the age of consent where you're from? Where was it—Azerbaijan or something?
