    Aww, not fair!

  3. Plug your shit

Yesterday I noticed that my analytics for Hobo Lobo was registering visits on a wacky domain like blaparallax.local—as in, it was seeing pages on this domain as if this was my site. Obviously someone (in Dallas) was tinkering with a local instance of the parallaxer, which is kinda neat—and he/she has forgotten to remove the Piwik code which for whatever reason likes to be hard-coded. I threw two lines into my htaccess file… RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR} xxx.yy.zz.aaa RewriteRule ^googalyticsBdamned/piwik.js$ googalyticsBdamned/piwik2.js [PT,L] … and redirected him/her alone to a different analytics js file which contained this: alert("Hey dude, it's cool you're doing wacky things with the parallaxer, but you should really remove the piwik analytics code before you get out of local staging "); I hope that was startling. /

I kindof dig the interface. It is very brave for MS. I suspect we'll see a class action lawsuit mounted by all their legacy business clients, what with their contractual obligation to keep all software looking like it came out of 1995.
  5. What's the best way to follow Twitter

I also use this esoteric "twitter.com" website for my tweeting needs. There is also an app that lives on my phone and causes me to type wacky typos that I never notice before I send them.
  6. Life

I am sick. Missed work yesterday. Did manage to update Hobo Lobo, at long last, holy fuck, damn, yo. Last wacky long pause happened because we went to Serbia for a month. And that was practically half as long as this one. These last few months were crazy busy and they've finally let up. For a while there, we were traveling every weekend. One of these travel weekends, I lost my wedding ring in Lake Lanier, while hanging out for the weekend after someone else's wedding. Right off of this pier in the center here (this looks like a pretty old satellite image, the lake contour and the pier arrangement looked slightly different). I jumped in and it just slipped off my finger. If anyone finds it, please send it to me. Fortunately it was one of our backup rings, not the actual rings we were married with. And stuff… but anyway, NEW LOBO!

You do not put shit like that on the internet. ¬¬
  8. Plug your shit

The shittiest one is winning. Baffling.
  9. Life

This strikes me as somehow in exceptionally bad taste.
  10. Idle IPv6

    Fun times.
  11. I would totally be down for relocating to The Bay Area and doing something rad—but I might like how cheap San Antonio is a little too much, plus you can't beat a ten minute commute, plus I would have to make more than double what I make now to be able to live in the comparable level of comfort, plus the art community here is really jammin' (because it is so cheap), plus I seriously doubt the quality of breakfast tacos in the rest of the nation is up to the San Antonio standards… On the flipside, I am over the 10-month summer and the gimpy trees and all the rednecks and lack of independent coffeeshops with normal hours… But it is so cheap here and I can make my wacky widgets and put them on the internet from anywhere in the world…
  12. New people: Read this, say hi.

    Let's not be hasty.
  13. Life

Today's imperfect science (i.e. Our Best Understanding of the Universe) is somehow just as dumb as patriarchal nonsense pulled out of the asses of bronze age shepherds? Gotcha.

There is nothing wrong with the wacky colors. Move along.
  15. Plug your shit

    NOYCE
  16. What does your view look like?

Since we're all bending the rules here: this is not technically my view (tho I hope my garden looks like that sometime soon; it is well on its way) but it is a grassland which has been returned to nature some five minutes from my house. It is surprisingly under-the-sea-looking this time of year.

You should be using the em dash anyway—(option)+(shift)+(-). En dash is primarily for number intervals.
  18. Life

It was pretty horrible. Made me feel like a weird angel of death, imposing my random outside notions (justice/pity/euthanasia) on a defenseless animal with no say in the matter.
  19. New Forums! Post feedback, notes, etc here

(F)CKEr can be on the bloaty side of things. It has quirks and behaviors.
  20. New Forums! Post feedback, notes, etc here

The editor is a heavily modded CKEditor. Hope that helps if there is no obvious in-board method for adding stuff to the Wizzy Wig. One more feedback: the need to be the first emoticons in the pallete. Also don't leave the angry tomater behind!
  21. New Forums! Post feedback, notes, etc here

Oh, you know what would be neat? If pressing J or K while browsing the forums jumped to the next/prev post on the page. This forum doesn't seem to come with jQuery and I don't know if the bandwidth hit is worth the functionality... but maybe we can bake together a little something easy to swallow using Goog's closure compiler. Maybe there is a ready plugin that does this.
  22. Resonance

OMG HI! What have you been up to?

I love it when software has wacky glitchy behavior. The VLC (but not other players) in the Ubuntu TV box that sits in my living room will exhibit some sort of horrible short-circuity audio static with certain types of files—we've figured out that we can fix it if we click ahead in the timeline, and then scrub back to the beginning of the video. ??¿?!
  24. Infinite Jest

I keep hearing good things about his essays.
