After Trep called me an idiot for giving away my Thief, I went out there and by sheer accident stumbled upon Thief GOLD (remember when Eidos used to do that shit?) in a legit package that looked worse than some Eastern European warez packs. The little slip of paper in lieu of the manual refers to the game as "Monopoly".... All that aside, the game believes my computer runs NT and is therefore DirectX impaired which is not true as I run XP and only have problem with DirectX 9 games. Is there a fix for this or should I try my luck on my sister's antediluvian, graphic-cardless computer?

I feel violated.

I had some interesting trips with pot and poppy cake. In addition to occasional moments of perfect clarity, I would be loosing my train of thought really easily. I would be waxing on and waxing off on some mundane topic of the kind that really hides something interesting and by the middle of the really involved declarative sentence I would forget what I had said so far and what I still have to say; I would loose my place in the sentence but I would remember the general context — so I would have to cheat my way out of the sentence and hope that my conversation partner doesn't catch any stark phase shifts. Those of you knowing my penchant for run-on sentences, may think I am constantly stoned, but that is not the case, no. All other drugs are really a long-term commitment that I am not eager to embrace... Besides, I am just a social smoker and drinker. Which leads me to drink: I don't. After two drinks, the abrasive teddy bear that I am becomes this fetid, gloomy depression on stilts. I can stand far more than that and still think and walk straight, but two drinks are enough to break me emotionally.

Goldeneye, on the PS was relatively easy. After about half an hour of test play I was kicking arses -- the same just didn't happen with Halo.

...and I hate the controler. The dual joystick is more awkward to me than any sort of mouse and WASD setup you can imagine.
