I have these weird raw-coloured artifacts all over the screen when I play, and no amount of tweaking I had done in-game seemed to fix that; also the people who made the game make no mention of any patches or ready fixes. That said, I am going to the mines right now and am not bothered too much... the present rig I have has been impressively kind and hard to crash even with games everybody is complaining about, crashabilitywise, so I am not really complaining much, you see.... Ideas?

I loved Gothic, I finished it twice, once as a swamp-dwelling hermit fighter thing and once as a mage; I've tried playing Gothic II again right before I went over to enjoying the shiny people in Butcher Bay, but I just couldn't do it. I seem to be in constant fear of making wrong decisions, even though chances are I will play the game more than once. Also, Gothic II was far uglier than the first game. I don't know how they managed to pull it off, seeing how the polygon count was higher per beast/person and the textures bigger... Maybe I am just annoyed by the foliage.

A friend of mine is house-sitting for these two other friends of mine and the guidelines for taking care of the cats that were tacked to the fridge when I visited the other day are totally insane. Three pages, double-spaced with point by point directions on cat care... with illustrations... totally fucking insane! All the while, the owner gets nothing back in terms of affection; the cat treats you like a jail keeper. These are wild animals, folks. If you droped dead one day, they would eat your carcass -- whereas if you had a pet pig, for example, it would go out in search of help.

I tried to watch it, I really did. I couldn't see the whole thing. I ran out of the room cursing in two languages, as if I have just seen a godawful soccer match where my team was butchered. As far as I have seen, the show was by and for pop personalities of no character who play mostly racing games, Halo and GTA and have a hard time reading (the teleprompter). Kartakmary Damacscy made a surprise appearance but that is where it all ended. There were no designers in attendance. I was half-hoping to see John Romero in the front row... It was like one of my worst nightmares. The opening sequence with the highly-choreographed gang brawl to the sound of two nigga's in white rapping something badly mixed would've been charmingly surreal if only it were a satire of an award show for games. It was like the whole shebang was conceived by people whose only contact with games were sixteenth-hand stories filtered twice through Joe Lieberman. The caravan is as fast as its slowest camel; gods help us all.
