Monkeydung, we love you and we would like you to stay. Please don't be discouraged by the loud voices of dissent coming from a small minority. Most of us are perfectly willing and able to look past your grammar and recognize your comedic genius.

  5. Read any good books lately?

I've been very lethargic reading-wise lately. In the past few months I have started a shitload of books but finished barely any. Here's a short list of the books in the pipeline or recently fully pipelined through -- most of which are littering my floor right now:  The first three (all?) Earthsea books by Ursula LeGuin (or somesuch) -- really good, light but complex at the same time. Koran -- like it more than the Bibble; didn't finish it. Dervish and Death by Mesha Selimovic -- pretty good, though it reads like Dostoyevski with the good and the bad; didn't finish it. The Defense by Vladimir Nabokov -- I am a Nabokov whore, so his stuff's always good; reading it actively right now. To Myself by Odilon Redon -- I love the guy's paintings, but I only read the first few pages; brand new book. Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov -- I love that book. This particular copy that I am looking at right now I purchased to send to Yufster but never really got to it; read it in high school and recently again. but probably  Speak Memory by Nabokov -- his memoirs; I've read only a few pages and then put it on the shelf and covered it with that copy of Master and Margarita from the previous paragraph.

  9. Read any good books lately?

I have a relatively small group of friends who are capable of withstanding my spontaneous ventures into abstract thought, while the people who firmly inhabit the real world constantly stare at me as if my very existence is something lewd and improbable. This is not because of any kind of condescending vocabulary on my part – which is what Trep would theatrically and self-righteously accuse me of. I try to use normal words (and feel like this dumbing down ought to be insulting), but every feedback is rife with new-age platitudes, boring truisms and religion so literal that it might as well be medieval. Invariably, the most retarded normal people I try to share an abstract thought with think I am having trouble speaking English and start yelling at me, so that I could understand them better. Anybody whom I meet in this accidental context and proves to have a rather interesting inner life I automatically promote from the 'most people' category. I realized recently (all over again) that I was on a completely different wavelength than the real world, that I cannot relax among the real people, that I would gladly stay in the university indefinitely. :ponycrap:

Your idealism brings tears to my eyes.

Salks, darling, weren't we talking about grumpiness the other night? :ponycrap:

Aaaaand the world's a better place.
  14. Psychonauts hate thread

I've been getting a positive pro-Psychonauts vibe from all the places I've gone to to preach the gospel of Tim. On a related note, I want a seqel to this game even if it is a 2D platformer made in one drunken afternoon on some cheap middleware platform for small developers.
  15. Nokia unveils new premium phones

It is the only phone I have; it is not some sort of fashion accessory or an umbilical cord connecting me with my social life.

  19. Spoiling the Beyond Game

I think the title is a part of a clever marketing strategy that is supposed to trick the throngs of the ever-so-numerous potential Nietzsche-reading audience into playing the game. Silly Frenchmen and their ridiculous game names: Eric Chahi made Heart of Darkness, and Ancel made Beyond Good and Evil...

  21. Tim Schafer on Icons today on G4

I doubt they'll play the whole episode, tho. Prove me wrong.

When it is really buzzing, you just press the crapolla out of that Y button as fast as possible. When you're really close to the thing, it doesn't matter if the thing is purple or not. If you turn about when you're really close, if it is more purple in one direction than another, it is a safer bet to go in that direction, tho.
  24. Game Packaging Sucks

Sasha and Milla are a famous Psychonaut team. Oleander is just the coach of the camp. Your idea is ludicrous, sir! Ludicrous!

You look at the colour of the thing. If it is purple, you're headed in the right direction, if it is blue, on the contrary. Listen to the pitch. The higher it gets, the closer you are. Occasionally tap the Y button. When the thing seems at its apex, furiously bash the Y button until the little bar graph fills up at witch point you will be richer.
