The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
ysbreker replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
Since I've got roughly 11 weeks 4 days 19 hours 16 minutes and 43 seconds worth of MP3's in my playlist it's quite a wild selection I get dished out by shuffle play. But other than that here's some recent albums I really like: I totally love in rainbows. But that might be because I got pretty late on the radiohead boat. Unkle - war stories is more than excelent  Underworld has released a new CD aswell: Oblivion with Bells. And it's good. Really mellow and minimalistic. Perfect for a sunday autumn afternoon sitting in the sun while reading a book. For a compilation album 'Modular: leave them all behind 2' is a nice collection of popular music you'll most likely hear on a good evening out. Worth checking out if you're into that kind of stuff PS. Wrestlevania: You're not alone in your progressive house love here. I love me some good progressive every now & then! [edit] How could I forget the awesome portal soundtrack?! Great ambient music plus the best end credits song ever created! -
I think I need to move to canada. Or figure out where the cool geeky girls hang out over here :/

The funny thing is TF2 is remarkably playable with a higher ping. I've been playing regularly on US server without serious effects. But since most of us Thumbers are from the EU (right?) using a EU server shouldn't be a problem I think? I know that danJW and Spaff are in some kind of clan and have a server. Maybe we could (ab)use that one for this event? Now all we need is a date and time.

I've been browsing the shack comments lately and they have a few handy greasemonkey scripts. I've adapted one of them for the idle thumbs forums: The youtube embedinator. What this script does, surprisingly, is change any link to a youtube (or liveleak, or break.com) movie into the embedded movie itself. So you can watch the movie from the comfort of this very forum! Saving you form the horrible youtube comments and wear & tear on your browser back button. I took the liberty of uploading the script in case you want to try this greasemonkey script yourself. You can get it here. When you've got it up and running the youtube link below should give you the youtube player right in this forum!

That is a video of the serpent mother. See my thread 'how was your weekend' for more info on it

Since I've got a new job per october first I celebrated by buing some new books! Yay! I bought the following books: William Gibson - Spook country The latest novel by one of the best writers today. I can't wait till I get to read this. Terry Pratchett - making money The latests in a very long line of still great books about the famous discworld. This is the second book with Moist von Lipwig and it goes about, you guessed it, making money. Alastair Reynolds - Zima blue A collection of short fiction by an author who writes great hard SF. Curious how this collection will be. Orson Scott Card - Ender's Shadow Sequel to Enders game. I got Enders game from a colleague when I left my previous job. curious about his ender universe. Orson Scott Card - Shadow of the Hegemon Also takes place in the Ender universe so I thought I check it out as well. Richard Matheson - I am legend Because you all said it was such a great book I bought this one as well. So any comments on my bookbuying? Any books I should definately check out?

It's entirely clientside. So you can only use it when you install the greasemonkey extension and grab the script from my site. So there is no need to limit anything.

Oh man, that movie/commercial(?) can't be real! Please tell me it's a parody?

I'm about to go crazy and rent a TF2 server. So we can have an idlethumbs battle night. Anyone up for that?

This might just be the very game that makes me finally buy a 360.

It's episode 2 + TF2 + Portal + Peggle Extreme for only $45. I don't find that expensive at all. What is everyone's problem for getting Halflife 2 and episode 1 free with the package? Did you really expect that ep2 + portal + TF2 would be cheaper than 45 dollars? -
Haven't played this myself, but I did find this site that has a nice movie of some ingame action: http://mattplays.com/game/call-of-juarez/

What is the title of the song from the first trailer? I know that song. In fact I think I have it on my HDD somewhere. But for the life of me I can't figure out the name :/

It's also available on steam now. I'm still on the fence about getting this. But when I do it will most likely be via steam.

All I did today was watch the lookout and Dennis P.
