  1. Idle Thumbs BONUS: Ruination Online March 2018 Enjoy this bonus episode drawn from the Idle Thumbs Patreon Ruination Online! Each month, we do a livestream where all topics have been posed by high-tier backers of our Patreon campaign: patreon.com/IdleThumbs. Due to popular demand, we're releasing the audio of that stream to the main podcast feed for easier listening. We'll be back with a regular episode of Idle Thumbs soon! Discussed: Your first gaming system, watching every film that ever has won--or ever will win--Best Picture at the Academy Awards, adapting our podcasts to the popular medium of anime, ASMR, #ASMRsensations, bay area restaurants' inability to stay open because our local economy is a disaster, eating take-out when in a video game development late night hell, exercise and self care, Amazon Alexa as the nexus of everything we've ever discussed, how to behave at a video game convention, the best year of our lives, 2014, The Matrix, All Robots Go To Heaven, eating foreign cuisine, a malevolent chef aiming to prepare the most disgusting possible dish of your favorite foreign cuisine, video game user experience design, designing an Idle Thumbs-themed room escape, changing one thing about the world, horrifying consequences, noticing all Academy Award-winners suddenly change to reveal possible future outcomes for mankind, enjoying things you thought you'd hate, Patreon postcards, an update on the status of George Broussard's Hamburger Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Listen in iTunes
  2. Twin Peaks Rewatch 13: The Orchid's Curse We're deep in the heart of Twin Peaks-as-ongoing-TV-series now, as a bunch of action-packed sneaking around happens, while Donna carries the emotional weight of the series herself, in her seemingly-solo search to understand Laura's murder. Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Subscribe to the RSS Feed Subscribe on iTunes Episode 14 Pre-Discussion ThreadCatching up? Listen to the Rewatch archive. --- my original pre-discussion first post: I'm admittedly pretty lost in my memory of what happens next, other than some very very big beats. This is a strange part of the show for me, on this watch-through, because I thought I actually had a pretty good handle on when things happen, when certain arcs wrap up, etc, but I guess I totally don't.
  3. Twin Peaks Rewatch 12: Laura's Secret Diary Everyone is so distracted by their own lives this week that the investigation into Laura's murder takes a bit of a back seat. Fortunately, this week, everyone's lives are pretty fun to watch. Join us in our weekly look at the complete run of Twin Peaks, as we watch "Laura's Secret Diary." 4. Twin Peaks Rewatch 9: May the Giant Be With You I've heard about you... We are back for the start of Season Two of our weekly look at the complete run of Twin Peaks. This week the elaborate, mad race of plot threads that ended season one come to a head and start cinching together into focused knots, launching nearly everyone off onto exciting new trajectories. While this episode may be one of the best episodes of Twin Peaks, it definitely has one of the worst names. 5. Important If True !!: A Funky Bad (Good) Apology This is a quick episode to let you all know that Important If True is going to be sporadic in the next couple of months, because we've all got slightly too much going on. Or, it was intended to be a quick episode about that, until Chris found a collection of novelty sound effects buttons in our recording software, then it became something slightly more stupid. We'll be back next week with a full episode, but don't be surprised if a few upcoming episodes are missed or come in a little short. If you're new to the show, we recommend you skip this episode, and browse back a couple weeks to find a full episode that sounds appealing. We're really proud of the last few months of the show and hope you enjoy it! Discussed: Hello My Future Girlfriend Send us your questions at [email protected]! 6. Twin Peaks Rewatch 8: The Last Evening Twin Peaks' first season is over, somehow ramping up every single storyline it touched, while winding down absolutely nothing. Though the finale left more questions asked than answered, we're only one third through the complete run of the series! Join us as we discuss our rewatch of "The Last Evening" and prepare for Season Two. 7. Twin Peaks Rewatch 7: Realization Time This week on our weekly examination of Twin Peaks, it seems like half the cast is heading north of the border without telling each other, at least two people are wearing disguises, and everything has gone very noir. It's time for the penultimate episode of season one, as Twin Peaks' uncountable plot threads all line themselves up for the finale, and we sort through them with your help. 8. Twin Peaks Rewatch 5: The One-Armed Man The magical starts trending toward the mundane in week five of our complete rewatch of Twin Peaks. Hopefully you're hungry for a of a lot of plot, a lot of mystery, and a peppering of moments which seem revelatory but curve into surprising bafflement, as that's what's on the menu this week, in "The One-Armed Man." 9. Twin Peaks Rewatch 4: Rest in Pain Laura Palmer is in the ground, but the reach of her past (and the impressions she has left on people) seemingly only broadens. 10. Twin Peaks Rewatch 3: Zen, or the Skill to Catch a Killer Things really take a turn for the weird as we hit episode three of our once-a-week rewatch of Twin Peaks. While this week dives headfirst into into dreams, mysticism and melodrama, Jake and Chris agree that the most important development was that Agent Cooper finally finished whittling that whistle. Twin Peaks Rewatch 2: Traces to Nowhere The pieces start moving into place, and Jake and Chris start settling in, as we roll into episode two of our weekly look at the complete run of Twin Peaks. In addition to the shows' continued exhaustive launching of new storylines, we discuss Chris' trip to the shooting locations of Twin Peaks, the reasoning behind the first season's strange episode numbering, and plenty of great points raised by listeners. 12. Important If True 55: Consider the Water Lobster Our time is precious. We all know it. But how precious? It all depends on how much of it we have. Three hundred years? Four hundred? _One hundred thousand years?_ The cosmos stretch out before us, inscrutable and infinite. The only limits are your imagination, and the unstoppable multitudes of self-cloning asexual crayfish threatening to extinguish all galactic mass. Discussed: dulcet tones, glitter bombs, helping, the hone zone, self-cloning mutant crayfish, human extinction via water lobsters, wax housing the coati, being back, thin-faced fortune-smashing robot arm, charming fortune cookie fortune-writing mom, redacted fortunes, robots making robots making microchips, The Matrix but with crayfish and the point is to get rid of glitter, Twista's extended family line obliterating all stellar mass Send us your questions at [email protected]. 13. Yes that’s true! It’s an important feature. The Minit segment got very rambly and repetitive and I cut a lot out including the part where we talk about pressing C to kill yourself. I tried to keep it in but it was in the middle of a conversation that is basically a slow paced duplicate of what’s there.
  14. My favorite episodes are the ones that are a mix of the personal (life stories from us, advice questions from readers) mixed with the absurd news and hypothetical nonsense that come up. The tricky thing about IIT is it’s completely contingent on what comes into the email inbox each week. I love doing the show, though.
  15. Twin Peaks Rewatch 45: The Return, Part 10 Twin Peaks dives deep into the uncomfortable and painful, at a very human level this week, and we do our best to talk through it all. Fortunately, in addition to a cavalcade of very dangerous, very bad people doing unconscionable things, Albert goes on a date and seems to have a great time. Join us in discussing Twin Peaks The Return, Part 10. If you have a question for us or thoughts to share on the new season of Twin Peaks, write us at [email protected]. Looking for a place to discuss the season with fellow viewers? We recommend the Twin Peaks Rewatch forum. Did you fall into a game within a game? "No worries," you think, wiping the gunk from your sunken eyes, "I'll just finish up this little Easter Egg and be moving again in no time," and delve deeper. 22. My initial outburst at the very top of the episode was because I suspected (incorrectly) that you were trying a Slyboots with Y’all... and then Nick caught on and did it himself. I realize that by drawing attention to it, I created it. Meanwhile though, that was all a distraction: While we were all y’alling, you sprang your real trap, “clam in the beverage.”
