They seemed to make a mistake with the encoding. I suspect the "Large" trailer is the 320x240 one, and the Small one was supposed to be 240x18something or 160x120. Instead the "small" trailer is just the same as the "large" one, except 20 megs bigger and with weird interlacing.

Awesome. We talked to these guys at E3, they seemed cool. Hopefully they're working on something that is good and doesn't involve 80 billion crates.

Ron Gilbert has made a post about Shaun of the Dead in his blog... The interview in question is one which will be appearing on this very site in the coming weeks. Stay tuned! In the words of Chris, "It's too bad he referes to Shaun of the Dead as part of the Hollywood money machine. also too bad he calls it a 'perfect parody of zombie films'" But whatever, he liked it, and vaguely plugged an upcoming Thumb article. In other news, Ron Gilbert's Shaun of the Dead is something I'd buy, if only because that is weird.

What? No. What? ... What? Jesus. No.

Did anyone happen to read Polygon? I bought a subscription right as they went under, and instead of getting a refund I requested the previous year's issues... I was actually pretty disappointed. Their intentions were good and a few of the articles were good, but frequently instead of being insightful they seemed to get off simply on the fact that they were "mature" and "for adults" instead of pandering to the unwashed youths of America.

Those mods are all free to owners of the commercial single player version of Half Life - you could have downloaded them all on your own separately from those mods homepages and they would work with your CD key. Instead, your CD key (which is for a valid retail Half Life 1) just unlocked them for you in Steam. If you want to play Condition Zero you'll still have to buy that separately. Steam exists for single player too... It doesn't work entirely seamlessly, but if you want you can just download Steam enter your CD key and play Half Life 1 without ever installing it from the CD's - it downloads future maps through Steam as you progress through the levels.

Yes nobody here is afraid of the f-bomb, but that's not some sort of founding principle of the site. Hopefully we're not coming across as "the site who likes to cuss a lot," because that would be missing the mark by a fair bit. Are we coming across simply as "the site who likes to cuss a lot?"

If Salon called you up and interviewed you would you shut up about Trapezoid? He is a decently talented guy, even if the animutations are pretty derivitive from a certain point of view.

the initial Majesco rumor was "february 2005" but now I've seen "spring 2005" beaten around too, so probably one of those, and you know which one is more likely

I thought claiming it was a Klingon proverb was just a joke made for Kill Bill, as I've never heard that in Star Trek ¬ ¬
-
Trapezoid didn't invent that style, he just coined the term Animutation and it has caught on in some circles. Making crazy flying singing and dancing collages is what everyone does when they first get Flash or Director, he just did a very very good, entertaining job of it.

Nothing is more retarded than the "pre-order" system in gaming retail.

So I just called my local GameCrazy to find out if they had any copies of the newly released in the US Katamari Damacy only to be told that they had zero copies!! Holy shit, I thought to myself, maybe they got bought out by the crazed gaming enthusiasts who in my fantasy world completely litter Santa Cruz County. No. It turns out the store in fact STOCKED ZERO COPIES OF THE GAME because THEY GOT ZERO PREORDERS FOR THE TITLE. What is wrong here? How do I buy the game now? I get it online. I guess game stores aren't interested in actually CARRYING GAMES anymore. They're only interested in ORDERING THEM ONLINE FOR ME, making me COME PICK IT UP AT THEIR STORE, and CHARGING ME A PREMIUM FOR THE FAVOR. But I already know about the game. How do new people browsing in the store discover this game? THEY DON'T, and the game goes on to sell ZERO COPIES IN AMERICA. Will the publisher be surprised? YES! Are they retarded? YES! FUCK EVERYTHING, WE'RE DOING FIVE BLADES!! -
They got the PS2 part right though. Or one would hope they did.

Jake replied to Jake's topic in Video Gaming
Ok sorry, by "sounds like its real" I didn't literally mean "every DS is totally going to have an 802.11 repeater creating a widespread P2P gaming network across the globe," I just meant "its real that something's probably up at Nintendo with an interesting multiplayer solution for the DS." -
I suspect the PS2 one will ship later than XBox by a good margin. PC will probably ship in between the two. That's my uneducated guess.

Gamespot agrees with me! ... kind of. Regardless, that's an interesting news writeup about retailers stocking next to 0 copies of Katamari Damacy and how their shortsightedness and pre-ordering nature is possibly damaging the success of the game. -
I pity the programmer that gets the job of porting that game...

Walling two or three Sims into a room with no doors or windows and nothing but a coffee pot is a bit of a classic.

I think they made the diss small on the gamecube so japanese youth would think they're cute. Then they claimed to Americans that it was to reduce piracy by using a nonstandard format. And then developers were sad because they had so much less disc space on the Cube, and gamers were sad because they couldn't play dvds or audio cd's on their cube despite the spot where you put the disc being like 2cm too small to hold afull size disc.

I stole Wally's monacle in Monkey Island 2. But, come on guys, we've all been there right?
