  1. Am I mistaken that a different team is making WW than made SoT? There's always hope for the next POP game, which is surely already in development (wasn't WW's development started before SoT was complete?)
  2. WIIYC&PBRATM?

  3. More Psychobabble

That preview is really good too, all should read it immediately. Props to Raymond "friend of the Thumb" Padilla.
  4. the president really "has to go"

This is probably going to sound more racist than it is, but does anyone else think its completely odd that a company successfully uses the image of a southern colonel to market things to black people? That baffles me.
  5. the president really "has to go"

Kingz i dont think that forum exists surely youre talking nonsense and not at all revealing the location of our secret base, lab, and/or op center.
  6. the president really "has to go"

I was referring to him appearing as if he was a bit constipated, but also he should not be reelected.
  7. What's the worst you've done in a videogame?

this is never all that kind. Note the ominous clown. Also click the link for an even more ominous clown painting!
  8. "Thumb(s)," or preferably "the Thumb" are the two officially sanctioned nicknames. "Idle T" is already taken by a forum smiley face (but you can use it if you really want). Also, of course you can call the site Idle T, nobody cares also: chris
  9. Jade Empire

I saw this at E3 and was pretty impressed by it. I don't really know what else to say other than that, and I'll be watching closely as it gets close to coming out.
  10. Where are the proper Action/Adventure bond games? Why always 3rd or 1st person shooter?
  11. Holy Moly, or how valve wants my soul

There's no chickens in the new Italy map sadly The gameplay is not any different, that would sort of defeat the point of the "port" (which is what it is, just a very enhanced port, thats why its called "counterstrike: source" and not "counterstrike 2"), but since the maps have so many little things that go flying around, and the character animations and sort of unfortunately gross dynamic death animations and things like window breaking behaving more realistically it's a bit more immersive and fun than the past CS. If you get a chance to sit down and check out the game I recommend loading up the Office level right off, as it's the most impressive to me. Papers go flying around if you shoot at or blow up areas with file folders, if you shoot a PC to the point that it falls over the case will come off and you can kick it around until the ram and video cards and power supply fall out, etc. You can knock the handset off of the phones and stuff... It's all pretty trivial stuff but it looks absolutely crazy in the middle of a game, at least in my opinion. I already liked the gameplay of CounterStrike a lot and didn't think it needed changing - CS Source remains just as addictive - so I thought it was a pretty good, familiar, way to bring people into Source. I can't wait for HL2 to move out of the Coming Soon list in Steam
  12. Holy Moly, or how valve wants my soul

I dont quite see how 2 affordably priced packages and 1 expensive collectors edition equates to soul stealing... Lack of broadband is stealing my soul by preventing me from downloading and purchasing the Silver package this very second.
  13. Okay so I finally caved after telling myself I wouldn't do it, and I bought the Star Wars DVD set. And I like it a lot. Man, Star Wars is great. I still don't like the wildly gyrating farting robots that seem to litter Mos Eisley, and I still can't tolerate the mysterious presence of the Honeycombs guy in Jabba's palace, but oh man, I really like these movies. I've been having an enjoyable couple of evenings falling asleep to super crisp looking original trilogy goodness. Also as has been said elsewhere, the giant documentary is actually pretty good as far as DVD documentaries go. All the old footage they've included is great to see, and George Lucas comes across as shockingly consistant and not too selloutish, and even slightly owns up to the fact that he's become the Emperor. I really can't tolerate the prequels and seeing them turned me off to rewatching the old films*, I in fact thought I might not enjoy them anymore. Fortunately I was wrong and I'm having a blast with these DVDs. Farting gag robots aside, they've reminded me of a lot of things, and made me very happy. That's all really. * Yes I realize that they're technically not the "old films" because they're now enhanced and tainted yadda yadda but whatever. Shh. It's a whopping 10 minutes of slightly damaged idiocy out of 6 hours that are generally not that. I'll live.

It seems the real world bits mostly center around the campground area, while all the really crazy stuff is most likely inside someones head. That said, I'm sure that as the game progresses lines between crazy stuff and minds and the real world and blahhh will probably get a bit blurred.

That's the general premise of the game, yep.
  16. in-movie question about Shaun

Ah whoops sad I was like one line of dialogue too early. I was at least still in the right scene. Chris's answer about drunkedness making it irrellevent is the best.
  17. Chris I agree and am in the process of obtaining some DVD copies of the proper 70s/80s versions... but on the whole some of this stuff isn't a big deal. The only reason that it's a deal at all to me is that George isnt going to put the old ones out... I mean that's obviously the big deal for most people, but sometimes I feel like people just go too nuts. As it is now with the current DVD set, its far from perfect, and I don't at all like the thought of people experiencing the films like this for their first time, but what's there is enough to get me in the proper Star Wars mood, that's all I really wanted/needed from these DVDs (my VHS copies are a bit overwatched and pathetic looking at this point)
  18. in-movie question about Shaun

Thanks to the wonder of commentary tracks, all is revealed: Ed's actually laying out the entire plot in that bit. tomorrow morning lets have a bloody mary (reference to mary the girl in the garden) lets grab a bite at the kingz head (reference to philip being a bitten at his house) grab a couple at the little princess' (picking people up at liz's) then we'll stagger back to the winchester (acting like fake zombies) and we're back at the bar for shots (the bit with the gun right before the end) then on the commentary they say "if you didn't hate us before you hate us now."
  19. Happy birthday Erkki!!

Woooo, etc. Happy birthday. Just so marek doesn't have to do it:
  20. I like that Han shoots first, I really like that Jabba was only talked about and not seen until the 3rd film... Basically every change I don't like (except for the occasional matte line or light saber clean up which are fine by me), but it's still entertaining film, it's still enjoyable to watch. I prefer the old edits by a lot, but if those things ruin the film for you then I think you have to let go a bit.
  21. Edge restyling?

    Fuck off
  22. Psychonauts.com redesigned

Nobody really knows that, but the level I played when I went in to volunteer test the pre E3 build was very enjoyable, from a platforming, adventuring, and storytelling angle.
  23. Psychonauts.com redesigned

Yes you do, yes you do, probably a little, sometimes, yeah a bit, and yes. How well it all works in the end, however, is still to be seen.
  24. Psychonauts.com redesigned

Though you probably should sign up just so they know people are interested in the game, you should probably also just direct download the trailer here http://psychonauts.com/video/PSYCHONAUTSTRAILERlrg.mpg so they know that the way they set up the site is highly dubious and should get fixed eventually.
  25. Sam and Max team forms new studio

Partly because Telltale's existence is sort of old news (the Telltale Blog has been in the Thumb Finger for months), and er, I don't know. It's good news that they exist! But that Q&A didn't have anything new in it, aside from a lot of speculation on the part of the Gamespot reporter That doesn't mean I'm not excited...
