  1. Psychonauts in mags

Wonder how accurate that is... That's incredible if true.
  2. Psychonauts in mags

This guy gets it. He hits a million nails on a million heads in this article. Also, Holy crap! "i so very much enjoyed reading that
  3. Psychonauts in mags

That XBox Nation article is possibly my favorite game preview of all time, from a "well structured, well written, inventive" standpoint and also because it so successfully champions Psychonauts and semi-independent game development without editorializing.
  4. gaming bad for your health?

Actually somebody probably designed it on their own time, patented it, and is now trying to get paid for it.
  5. Public notice

I've slightly altered the forum header art.
  6. Dear (most of) middle America....

Yes that's what we need, Nader or a Libertarian in control. I like the existence of people like Nader, and the Libertarian party when they are serving the function of preserving checks and balances, and bringing things to light that need to be addressed, but I wouldn't want Nader or a Libertarian politician governing the nation.
  7. Dear (most of) middle America....

Yeah, I don't think he meant it quite in the same way as Bush. Did you watch the debate in which he said that?
  8. Dear (most of) middle America....

No it's not the UK's election, but they're entitled to an oppinion I'd hope? I agree with Spaff. It baffles me that the middle of America votes Republican. Busy isn't actually for family values, isn't actually for the working man. He probably doesn't give a shit one way or the other about abortion. He is just loud and well managed, and gives people $300 of their taxes back to them and instead spends imaginary money.
  9. Er the movie isn't realistic, nor is it supposed to be. It was supposed to convey those feelings in a filmey way, and I think it was really successful at that. It's a story, not a ... real thing. If one of the characters could fly around or something would you stop trying to hammer on it because the events in it aren't real but are instead symbolic?
  10. Er I think that misses the point slightly Walter. I mean one could probably easily do a remake of Lost in Translation where someone from another country feels entirely out of place in America, and whoever made it would obviously want to amp up their portrayal of "Americans" to the most extreme examples possible to enlarge the feeling of culture shock and ridiculousness and being entirely out of place... It's not so much about "those crazy Japanese" specifically. Er Chris already sort of said this entirely in his post / Italy example so nevermind.
  11. Grand Theftendo

http://www.grandtheftendo.com/ This guy's working on a full NES port of the Portland area of GTA 3, including all the missions... It looks amazingly awesome. It'll be released as a free rom download when complete. There are a couple making of pages worth checking out to look at this guys homemade NES dev software. If you were Rockstar would you release a limited edition cartridge of this? I'd buy it. Maybe.
  12. Avatars must go! ...thus spake Kingzjester

Its almost like I did it and then Kingz couldn't resist.
  13. Monkey Island

In an interview Gilbert gave forever ago he said that it was apparently a tech support nightmare and he wished he'd not put it in there in the first place.
  14. but he's too ashamed to tell anyone
  15. Flatout

Click "none" on the tape casette to make it go away.
  16. Nine point nine. NINE POINT NINE! Okay clearly the game is good... but ... will the next GTA game get an 11.8, with a little picture of the review score busting out of the top of a thermometer? A peek into the future? Why not just come out and say "Okay 10. Yep." I mean, clearly 9.9 is not forbidden in that unspoken "no game is a 9.9" way anymore. I don't know why it was forbidden in the first place considering sites like IGN etc vehemently say things like the ratings scale is not an indicator from "shit game" to "perfect game" but more "worthless" to "buy this." When you start rating things 9.9, no matter what your system, though, I think it's time to abandon scores all together, re-evaluate what the heck you're talking about, or just start being arbitrary, "Whose Line is it Anyway" style ("Graphics? 2 billion!!!!!" "Sound? NEGATIVE FORTY - DOESNT INCLUDE 5.1 SURROUND!!!!" etc). Why not? You'll still get the same idea across.
  17. ***** ***** Forums .. relocation :-D

TASTY BACON!!!! http://www.tastybacon.com ? edit: THWARTED! by VB3's better swearing protection. How weak.
  18. Arhghghghg

I think he is already blind. Note the "I'm a blind guy" shades in his self-portraitesque avatar.
  19. IGN reviews San Andreas: "9.9"

The appropriate term is "penish." People need to get with the program.
  20. Tell Us About Yourself

What it has to do with it is that I wasn't even there when you wrote the press release. Also, hi there everyone, I'm Jake. I write for the site.
  21. Tell Us About Yourself

Actually I wasn't there the first day of the show. I drove down in the middle of the night and arrived in LA at 7:30am Thursday, slept for an hour, went to the show, and failed to contribute anything worthwhile.
  22. Tell Us About Yourself

Chris and Marek are lying through their teeth of course.. We actually hate them all, including you.
  23. The Bard's Tale 6.7 at Gamespot

Also for the record, though Gamespot ranked it 6.7, Bard's Tale is averaging an acceptably higher 75% on Gamerankings.
  24. Toe Jam & Earl

Best cheezy 2D top-view co-op ever. Also: winnar (thats an MP3). I could never forget about this game obviously, but that MP3 reminded me that I really need to find and buy a new copy of it, and beat it. How can you go wrong with crazy aliens and rocket skates, and enemies designed by Steve Purcell? Answer: you can't... Also it should be added that you very easily can go wrong with that late 80s/early 90s design ethic (including copious use of really bad record scratch samples) but with TJ&E its totally acceptable. ToeJam has that huge gold chain and the backwards yellow hat... aww.
