Twin Peaks Rewatch 44: The Return, Part 9

That Andrew WK tweet is great. I love it. (And will point out that we haven't seen much to show that Ben is working on being good, bad, or anything at all this season, other than appearing to have mellowed with age, and the time a character told him he was good.) -
Twin Peaks Rewatch 44: The Return, Part 9

What did he do to become good in season two? It felt like everything he did had the potential to be a scheme. And because bad things happened to him he's good now? He ran a totally insane and entrenched human trafficking and drug ring. He directly fucked up dozens of human lives and we never really got a resolution to any of that. I appreciate that he let Beverly's remark stand without fully accepting or contradicting it. I don't think he deserves more than that ambiguity. I may have overstepped by saying I wish he contradicted her, but beyond that I dunno. I love Ben Horne as a character, but as a human being I find it hard to let go of his complete history and accept it on faith that he's "good" now. And I've flip flopped on that Tammy smoking shot about a dozen times haha. I don't really know what I think about it. -

Chad was a dick to Hawk when he was in the Men's room finding the diary pages. I think in general nobody likes Chad because he is straight up mean to everyone. -

I thought Matthew Lilard did a great job in that scene. -

Twin Peaks Rewatch 43: Mid-Season Intermission

Everything in this post is really good and it makes for a good read - thanks for sharing! - and it also serves as a capsule to explain why "Lynchian" as a word could mean so many different things, that it's dangerous to try and use as a universal shorthand to mean one thing. -
That's bleak! I had thought a similarly bleak thing: It's a place to raise monkeys used for medical/drug testing by either that specific university, or many universities.

Get the animator who did the ratatouille "senses" animations to do an overlay.

Apparently the screenplay for this movie is nuts because a ton of that stuff is explicitly called out. I hope that is true and not exaggerated for press tours, and is love to read the screenplay if so.

I couldn't remember if there was a generation gap there or not. Thanks for the clarification! -
Twin Peaks Rewatch 36: The Return, Part 2 Is it future or is it past? Storylines converge, and events fold in on themselves as Twin Peaks' return concludes its second episode. What will happen to Cooper now that he's left the red room? What is his doppelganger's plan and what could it mean? Was that Jacques Renault in the Roadhouse? Has James always been cool? Join us for a deeper look at Twin Peaks: The Return, Part 2. If you have a question for us or thoughts to share on the new season of Twin Peaks, write us at twinpeaks@idlethumbs.net. Looking for a place to discuss the season with fellow viewers? We recommend the Twin Peaks Rewatch forum. Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Listen in iTunes Original thread: Let's talk about the second part of tonight's two part premiere! (not counting the streaming-only episodes which make it a four part premiere... Twin Peaks can't not be numbered and released weirdly, it seems!) We'll be releasing a podcast discussing this episode sometime in the middle of this week (probably Wednesday). So if you have thoughts on the complete premiere including episodes one and two, drop them here! It's okay to be spoilery in here btw, but please use spoiler tags for any content past episode 2! As always, you can reach us at twinpeaks@idlethumbs.net too!

This. Also this. I really enjoyed Baby Driver and man it was really well put together, but yeah it didn't stick with me the way any of Edgar Wright's other work has. And it was weird how many people got murdered and then he was given a tiny sentence. I feel like I owe it a second viewing because of how much I let it just wash over me.

The podcast episode is live! This episode is a hard one to do justice to in a single episode, so fortunately for everyone we can keep talking about it next week! We're taking advantage of the week gap before Part 9, to do a "catch up, reflections, and further thoughts" episode about the season as a whole, and to continue unpacking what we saw this week. -
