I guess. The humor in Broken Sword's dialogue isn't ever IRREVERENT IN YOUR FACE PARADIGM SHIFTING EXTREME WIT like some things, but it's not offensive either. It's not trying to be extreme. George is a goof, like that one only moderately-funny-but-earnest uncle that everyone seems to have, and I think they captured that pretty well. He's not Sam and Max or Raz or Guybrush - he doesn't sit there dishing out a million zingers at everything he sees - but I don't think they were trying for that.

They're not "comedy games" or something... Do you assume that because they're animated?

Yeah okay okay, we all understand what you're getting at, but the only conclusion I can draw from all of it is that you don't actually get why people like the Quake games, and it doesn't seem likely that you will anytime soon, so you'd probably be better off just not wasting your brain thinking about it because you're not really contributing anything with that kind of post. This sort of observation is wholly valid and is really true - the visual design in Quake 4 is pretty uninspired and uninspiring. I feel let down in that department when I look at screenshots. But, does that mean I won't have a huge ton of fun playing rounds of well polished fast-paced DM with this game? Of course not. People love to whine that id games are "nothing but a pretty tech demo to show off id's new game engine with no gameplay to speak of," but if you actually go and watch the people who are really into the Quake multiplayer, the first thing you'll notice is how they've in fact turned all the art off - they only play these games for the gameplay. If these games aren't your cup of tea, that's totally fine, but if you sit there whining about something that - to the games intended audience - is totally irrellevent (and make no mistake - Quake 4 is aimed squarely at existing Quake fans), you're just blowing smoke.

I'll just go on the record as saying that "the sigh" is the most bullshit "effective communication method" ever always, and yet it is resoundingly popular with the ladies worldwide. Good assessment of the meaning of the sigh, though I can't tell how much of a joke that post was.

Wouldn't be surprised if Majesco wasn't their publisher next time around. I don't have any real reason to think that, but it seems likely that Majesco is going to pull it in a little bit.

Yeah who knows what that really means. Would God of War or GTA3 have been considered an "AAA" title if they hadn't done well/been well received? Driv3r clearly is not referred to as "AAA" by people even though it probably had the budget and production values of many allegedly "AAA" titles, because it is unpopular. "AAA" seems like a stupid moniker that is awarded to games after they already ship and do well, which is troubling considering the number of publishers who now say they are "only interested in picking up AAA titles" from prospective developers. In other news: the games industry is a giant retard.

I think a very large chunk was MS money, probably at least 2/3 or 3/4, otherwise I doubt Majesco would have picked it up.

I'm really glad that scene went black and white for the US version. The reviews I read of the international cut made it sound like that whole bit was a lot less interesting and unique feeling when it was in color all the way through. I liked that it went from color to black and white to that all blue shadow scene to color for a bit and then to the nearly monochrome snow scene. It was nice that it changed it up so much. Anyway...

I guess Eyes Wide Shut's non-US release doesn't have bluescreened shadow people wandering around in front of the sex, but I don't know if it's really an improvement.

Are you suggesting the footage was in fact removed for the American version? Dangerous thinking, Chris. Surely they wouldn't censor a film for an American audience. Freedom.

In other news, Marek clearly likes/liked all those shitty 80's action TV shows. I never watched any of them, except for a couple episodes. They always sort of bored me.
