Warcraft 3 != Psychonauts. You might not think it, but Psychonauts is really tough on a system. Maybe you can cheat the requirements, but the game is going to be nearly unplayable anyway.

Pixel shader support is built into the GPU, so you need at least a DirectX8 compatible a newer video card.

Spotlight is just the product of a really good plugin-capable search indexer, so I would guess Longhorn will have something similar. Too bad they dumped WinFS for Longhorn, because the database backend FS probably would have made realtime content indexing easy as hell.

I'll probably go to Longhorn. Why not? Sure, it's trendy to laugh at the upcoming Windows release, but the reality is that computing moves on. Just because there isn't some massive revolutionary new visual difference between XP and the screenshots doesn't mean there aren't significant OS-level changes. As it stands, Microsoft is promising faster boot and S1 recovery time, fsater app launching, and fewer reboots on upgrade. Sounds good to me. And for the record, I use the XP style, albeit the silver/green one, not the stupid blue/green one.

So today I cancelled my World of Warcraft account. For me, the game has reached the point where it just feels like I'm grinding my way from level to level (currently at 31) by killing endless tigers and dinosaurs and whatever. Partly it's because the two friends who were playing on my server both left. One switched to Guild Wars and the other switched to another server to play with a friend of hers who I frankly cannot stand, so that left me playing by myself, which only adds to the boredom. Perhaps I'll switch to guild wars, where at least if I only play it every other week I'm not flushing money away. Or maybe I'll go back to Renegade, which I already own Anyway... just thought you all should know that I am no longer among the WoW-enabled. At least, as of the 26th.

The ring on the console itself is just a normal power status LED. The one on the controller lights up weirdly to show message alerts and stuff.
