  1. Bitchy thread tags

Tags are disabled now. Guys, showing who posted tags everyone's mad about won't make things better, it just spreads ill will. And without the ability to apply a retroactive amnesty, I'm not doing that. So the choices are: a) People learn to use them maturely They stay disabled
  2. Nothing changed, but mobs do spawn in weird places sometimes. Actually, something's changed, because I just (a minute ago) upgraded CraftBukkit/Essentials to new stable builds.
  3. FYI, I moved the ongoing editing game into the Idle Banter forum. Not that it's not fun, but I actually use this thread to keep an eye on peoples' comments about the server and the noise was making them harder to spot.
  4. Edited

    Relocated.
  5. +1 to Bond Villains. Wonder if you could dig a giant underground cavern somewhere and drain an ocean for ransom
  6. Map issue should be fixed. dynmap didn't explicitly load a version of the google maps api, so it broke when they updated it.
  7. Agreed, though I do love a ridiculously grand central-style station with multiple platforms.

Having written several card processing systems, I can tell you it's actually pretty strictly forbidden by merchant agreements and PCI compliance rules to store CVV/CVC codes (also track data, but that's not really an issue with PSN). That said, you also don't always need the number to auth a credit transaction. It depends on the amount of fraud detection the processor is doing, but sometimes if the address and name are correct they'll auth the card with an empty CVV (as opposed to a wrong one) if they consider other risk factors to be low.
  9. Yeah it seems to have broken but I'm not sure why as there's no error output. I'm guessing it's some change Craftbukkit b377 that broke things.

More of a concern to me than credit card numbers, which are easily canceled and monitored, are the rest of the personal details. Name, address, and birthdate are a big part of what you need for identity theft. It's easy to watch for bogus charges on your credit card, but less easy to monitor (and much worse in the long term) is whether someone is applying for credit in your name. One step to take if you're worried is to place an initial fraud alert on your credit report: https://www.experian.com/fraud/ It's basically just a note on your credit report asking creditors to call you for verification before issuing credit. You only have to ask one of the three credit agencies to make it happen, and it lasts for 90 days and doesn't affect your credit score. Experian (one of the agencies) has a pretty easy online process and will give you a copy of your credit report at the end.
  11. I'm going to say you probably couldn't do pistons server-side because adding a new block requires that the client software know about it.
  12. To quote a co-worker: "Minecraft is Notch's Minecraft"
  13. Just re-updated to the newest version of CraftBukkit now that they have a recommended build out. Let me know if you see any issues (I suspect you won't)
  14. Fun thought: detector rail plus note blocks make a very nice 'train arriving' and 'train departing' signal "Please stand clear of the doors" style.
  15. Could be... I'll try to put some time into lighting it better tonight.
  16. Wonder if minecarts can pass through portals. That would be awesome
  17. http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=99951 looks like it might be a decent Frenden replacement. I like Frenden's style, but that guy redesigns stuff every release and it's drifting farther away from the clean wind waker-esque style I liked
  18. The server's updated to 1.5_01! Let me know if you see any problems.
  19. Aha! Virus scanner proxy FTL
  20. I'm guessing that error's coming from minecraft.net
  21. Hrrm, early reviews from friends playing single player say that the powered track is really slow
  22. I probably wouldn't notice if you did ¬¬
  23. Still no CraftBukkit update. For those who also would like to follow things, I'm watching https://github.com/Bukkit/CraftBukkit/commits/master for commits. They're likely committing to a local repo, so at some point there should be a mega-commit pushed to the master with 1.5 support.
  24. Also: 1.5 is out, please don't update your clients until Craftbukkit is updated for the new version if you want to keep using the server. I'll update here when that happens.
