It's not candy, but Chis will definitely enjoy a bag of wasabi peas.

Salaries tend to be higher around here because of the cost of living, but because demand for jobs in games in so high, they tend to be immune to that. I know the difference in salary when I left Telltale was... dramatic. ...and as for part B, I think that's something of a stereotype. Lots of people may not travel far, but lots of others do. Granted, you have to travel a lot further to hit a different country (especially if you want a different country that's not Canada or Mexico). Greece is the furthest for me.

I may have just bought and consumed a bag of green tea kit-kat just now, so it only seemed right to stop into this thread. There's also a bag of Jelly Babies in my desk drawer at work for next week

Not NPS related, but the signs for National Forests are pretty much my favorite things: https://www.google.com/search?q=national%20forest%20sign&tbm=isch -
I use UberX when I use one. It's good and pretty cheap, unless you get stuck with surge pricing (where they add a multiplier onto the price because of demand). Usually you can wait it out after a half hour or so though.

Hmm, looks like a Sphinx update broke the forum's search. Downgraded it back and now it's working again.

Should be fixed again. For the curious, this happened after a security patch reverted a manual bugfix I made for http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/bugs.html/_/ip-board/ipboard-cant-detect-https-if-behind-an-ssl-terminating-load-balancer-r42909 That bug is fixed only in the 4.x branch, which isn't released yet

I think elmuerte and I seem to fall in pretty much the same place. It's not that I'm concerned it's not funny, it's that I'm pretty put off by the parody of my own industry, if that makes sense. I think it paints tech people with a really broad brush that's mostly just reinforcing already shitty stereotypes of tech industry workers, especially here in SF where it's basically the last thing we need.

I couldn't make it past the first few minutes of Silicon Valley. I think I bailed somewhere around the appearance of Brogrammers. It may be because I basically work in that world, but I found it kind of insulting. I feel pretty much the same about The Big Bang Theory, but that's insulting on a broader level. Veep is great though.

Probably that needs to be translated to latin, added to a seal, and put on a t-shirt.

For reasons I don't fully understand, Verizon data coverage is nonexistent on Marina Green and in Fort Mason.

This may not help with your girlfriend, but there are only 8 left (not including ones reserved for backers).

That's just pride about dunking.

Just so you know, Coit Tower is closed for renovation through May or June. Presumably you can still go to the base of it, just not inside or to the top.

Honestly as long as he keeps doing The Bugle I'm happy no matter what

https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=idlethumbs.net I updated openssl the same day. I haven't revoked and reissued the private key and cert, but I'm also pretty doubtful that anyone's likely to MITM thumbs. The site's always had perfect forward secrecy, also (well, as long as it's been ssl-enabled), so a stolen private key's also not good against past captured data. Never hurts to change your password if you're concerned, though. Also: 1password is half off today, for all your password paranoia needs. It's pretty great at making it easy to keep different strong passwords for each thing you use.

I think Craig Ferguson's "I'm going to do whatever I want because my show costs no money so CBS doesn't care" style wouldn't work for him or CBS in the Late Show slot. I also don't think he's the right person to put up opposite Jimmy Fallon if CBS wants to compete (which they do). Colbert, on the other hand, it absolutely the right person to compete with Fallon in that timeslot. But I'm super super sad to see the Report and "Stephen Colbert" go. Oh, and I bet Comedy Central is super bummed this didn't happen 6 months ago so they could have given John Oliver 11:30.

They're actually fulfilled by a professional order-fulfilling place, so unfortunately there's not really a way to do that

You can also do Angel Island, which never sells out. It was San Francisco's version of Ellis Island, basically. While there's less developed space to explore, it's an amazing hike because all points on the island have views of some portion of they bay: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Island_(California) http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=468

Recurring trolls are banned again. Unfortunately aperson seems to have discovered proxies, so he's hard to keep down. Feel free to report his posts when he pops back up. -

Having finished listening to the episode, I feel I should point out that the dagger breaking RSS feeds was fixed weeks ago. -

I think that's always the case with guests on podcasts that are free discussions (as opposed to interviews). Guests are coming into a group dynamic where they're maybe not as comfortable interrupting a conversation (or re-asserting control when interrupted). Thumbs is especially interruptey as podcasts go, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
