  1. Idle Thumbs 303: Great Play Dad

I don't remember if it was this episode (this is what happens when you have so many episodes and I listen to them all in a row) but I don't know if I've ever felt a greater video game kinship with Jake and his reluctance to get a Wii U for Zelda and then have to buy a Switch in a few months for Mario if it's good. Like, I never had a Wii or a Wii U, and there are Wii U games I would want to play on it, but the Switch is the new and sexy thing with only 1 game on it.
  2. Slowly working my way through the back catalog of Idle Thumbs as we enter the "Fuck Chris" era of the Idle Thumbs hiatus in our march towards the Countdown to Tears. I jumped on somewhere in the Sean, Jake, Chris Kickstarter revival era, so a lot of this will be new to me. I thought Fanboy's Lament was okay at first, until it got to its first like...key change? Then it got pretty good. Gave me a Bowie-esque vibe.
  3. The only actual movie thing I've seen on the Universal Backlot tour was the set for Evan Almighty, the ill conceived Bruce Almighty sequel starring Steve Carell. Also there was that Community episode full of flashbacks that were never on the show, and a bunch of them clearly take place on the Universal Backlot. One or more scenes takes place in the Jaws lake.
  4. The most intriguing thing I've heard about Crazy Ex Girlfriend among all the praise is that the titular ex/object of desire on the show is an East Asian man who is allowed to be a fairly jock-y and bro-y type instead of, you know, weird and nerdy and good at math/martial arts.
  5. Just call the endorsements section "Important Correspondence" Keep it on brand. edit: Or whatever Idle Weekend calls its "what are you up to this weekend?" section.
  6. So um, I take it by the outro that "Icy Hot: is it icy, or hot?" is going to be a Linda Richman-esque zen koan/running gag that will never be given a real answer? Or should I have sent in an email instead of sending a tweet? Either way; The idea was that it "Goes on Icy to dull the pain, then gets hot to relax it away". I think my grandpa always had a tub of it lying around for his sore arms and legs, Now if we're talking Head-On, I have no idea. I think they figured out it was basically just some homeopathic nonsense, which at best was massaging the head to increase blood flow and help manage pain
  7. That's gotta be some sort of Idle Thumbs blasphemy, up there with cursing the name of Far Cry 2.
  8. Maybe there's other hidden gems like Sean's accidental Fallout 4 spoiler in these.
  9. Totally caught that Nick was Goldblum-ing before it was called out on the show. I know it's silly, but I'm glad to hear the ad-reads staying as "live" ad reads, and not some pretaped boring nonsense. I guess this means that people will probably still want to hear the ad-supported versions for more of that hot #content
  10. I don't understand what Chris, Nick, and Jake were saying: should I unsubscribe from the Idle Thumbs podcast feed and also not subscribe to Important, If True?
  11. If I,IT is going to use the same email address Idle Thumbs used (questions [at] idle thumbs dot net), do you want us to stop sending in video game related questions, or....?
  12. Also, would it have been wiser to put the teaser for Important, If True into the Idle Thumbs podcast feed to make more people aware? I know Waypoint did it when they switched from Vice Gaming's New Podcast to Waypoint Radio. They put a short note in the original feed basically saying "Hey, we're in this other feed now. Sub to that!" I know Idle Thumbs isn't ending (yet) and so you want people to stay subbed to both shows, but I feel like your main way of promoting I,IT was via Twitter which not everyone who listens uses (clearly, if they thought Chris was bald and Nick was a caveman) and on an episode of a show that people are already apparently not listening to all the way through/at all (as per Chris' reasons for why Idle Thumbs is on hiatus anyway) Also, we all know Idle Thumbs is ending so Nick can take the name over as his E-Sports handle.
  13. You should have called this podcast Idle Truths.
  14. It's like they decided to do an episode just for me about underrated things that I actually enjoyed quite a bit. Arkham Origins is good and has a sense of holiday melancholy you rarely get in games. It's a Shane Black movie in game form. And it actually has decent/good boss battles and good DLC. Brandon Routh was a solid and underrated Superman who got the short end of the stick in terms of public perception of that movie. I'm glad his career seems to have bounced back in recent years, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night not withstanding.
